Abstract

This study was aimed to know students ability in writing narrative if there is significant different before and after being taught using animated video on second grade students at SMKN 1 Rejotangan. This study was quantitative approach pre-experimental research. During the research, researcher collected data by giving pre-test, activities in experiment, and post-test. The data was an essay writing. In the first meeting students was given pretest to measure their ability in writing before being taught with animated video. Then, researcher give posttest after taught using animated video. Due to pandemic of Covid-19, Researcher did the experiment by online through zoom meeting and google form. Some problem that faced by the students in writing is hard to find ideas to write. Animated video as teaching and learning media, it can help students to get ideas after watching the animated video. The mean score of pre-test was 11.43 and the mean score of post-test was 16.86. The significant different of both scores indicated that the method is effective to improve students skill in writing narrative. The conclusion from the research is animated video can be used as media to help students writing better and succeeded teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of students' writing descriptive text taught using Personal Photograph at tenth-grade students of SMK “Sore”. In this research, the researcher used pre-experimental with a one- group pretest-posttest design. The instrument of this research was a test. The researcher gave a pre-test to the student, and then treatment about writing using Personal Photograph. After that, the researcher gives the student post-test. The population was all students of grade tenth SMK “Sore” Tulungagung with 800 students. The researcher used purposive sampling was taken X TITL 1 as the sample with total was 27 students. After getting enough data, the researcher calculated the data using the t-test. Based on the computation, the mean score of the pre-test is 5.70 and the mean of the post- test 8.41. The t-value is -9.782 consulted to the t-table at the -2.056 significance level to see whether the hypothesis is accepted or rejected. It means that t-value is lower than t-table. So, it can be stated that the hypothesis is accepted. Based on the result analysis, the researcher then concludes that using Personal Photograph effectively improved the students’ writing descriptive text at the tenth-grade students of SMK “Sore” Tulungagung.

Abstract

English as one of the most appealing subjects for student at University especially in Indonesia. Over the decade English is the subject that many students want to mastered it. To achieved it, student need to learn English as the way they need it for specific goals. One of the aspects to reach the goal in learning English is motivation. Motivation has been broadly accepted by both teachers and researchers as one of the most significant factors that influence and affect the rate and success of foreign language learning. Because teaching and learning English is not only the cognitive aspects on its but also there is psychology aspect how maintain the point of view in every student how to achieved new material as the language input that is very different with their native language. Inspired by such resume above, the study on which the present article is based aimed to investigate and to knowing kind of motivation such as instrumental and integrative motivation for student who learn English as a foreign language in Indonesia. A quantitative and qualitative analysis of the responses to a questionnaire of 50 students at university, it sought to examine the relative importance of motivational variables as theorised in the field of second language motivation. It also aimed to go further, by considering the kinds of motivation on its’. This study has gained pertinent insights on the information regarding the type and level of motivation that influence students the most. The discussions and the result is that majority of the students are integratively motivated. There is a need to motivate the students more integratively and also instrumentally.

Abstract

The objectives this research to know implementation of audio storytelling to teach listening skill in class tenth at SMK Negeri 2 Trenggalek. The research design qualitative research and the type is case study because this research based on phenomenon. This research used two instruments: observation sheet and interview. Observation sheet was used by the researcher to observe the teaching activity and interview was used to find in-depth information by the teacher about the use of storytelling as media in teaching activity. Observation sheet consisted of 6 statements based on techniques of teaching audio storytelling and lesson plan. The findings shows that the implementation of learning using audio story telling in listening has met the criteria expected by the researcher. In interview, researcher gave 6 questions to the teacher. The result shows that audio story telling can be implemented to teach listening skill in tenth grade at SMKN 2 Trenggalek.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know if there is significant effect of using Quizlet toward student vocabulary mastery. This research was using quasi-experimental research with two types of variable. First variable was the application of Quizlet as the independent variable while the second variable was the vocabulary mastery as the dependent variable. The samples in this research are students of eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 2 Trenggalek they were MIPA 2 as experimental group and MIPA 5 as control group. The experimental group was using Quizlet as learning media while the control group was not. The instrument was to collect the data of this research by pre-test and post-test. After the data was collected, the researcher analyzed the data by using independent sample t-test. Based on test the Sig. (2-tailed) of post-test were 0.000 <0.05, than as the basic rules of making independent sample t-test, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the average student learning outcomes in the experimental group and the control group. So, Quizlet application is an effective learning media for students' vocabulary mastery

Abstract

The objective of the research is to know how Town Map can improve the tenth-grade students’ ability of writing descriptive text at SMA Negeri 2 Trenggalek in the academic year 2012/2013. The research design used was collaborative action research. This research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle was divided into four stages, they are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this study were students of class X-G in the academic year 2012/2013 which consisted of 35 students. The research instruments used were tests, questionnaires, observation sheets, and field notes. Data collected with observation sheets were analyzed qualitatively, while data collected by tests and questionnaires were analyzed quantitatively. The result of this research showed that the use of Town Map can improve the writing ability of X-G class students of SMA Negeri 2 Trenggalek in writing descriptive text. This can be seen from the increase of the percentage in the pre-test, post-test in cycle one, and post-test in cycle two. The results of the pre-test showed that only 10 students (29%) out of 35 students successfully passed the writing test. Then, in the first post-test cycle there were 17 (49%) of 35 students passed and 30 students (86%) of 35 students succeeded and had achieved the success criteria in the second cycle.

Abstract

Teaching English for young learner is not a simple thing. They need different treatment in learning new things especially new language. Some teachers use games, videos, songs, etc. The researcher made an animated movie about “Numbers”. It can be used to teach first grade students to learn Numbers in English from one to ten. The researcher wants to know whether the video made is effective or not to teach first grade students in Starlight Tuition. The result is animated video is effective to teach vocabulary especial “Numbers” to young learner.
