Abstract

The research of compotition and structure of sapling vegetation at mangrove forest Siakdistrict Riau province had been carriedout on February- Apryl 2014 by survey methodswith plots (10x5) m 2 and transects. The transect was taken place 100 m from coastline. Eachindividual of saplings that account in the plot was measured diameter of breast high. Theparameter were species vegetation, density, frequency, dominancy, importance values, diversity index and similarity index. The results of this research account 11 saplings ofmangrove vegetation at mangrove forest Siak district, they are Avicennia alba, Bruguieragymnorhiza, Excoecaria agallocha, Heritiera littoralis, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Lumnitzeralittorea, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Scyphiphora hydrophillacea,Sonneratia alba and Xylocarpus granatum. Based on index values obtained importantspecies that dominate at each station is Rhizophora apiculata (St.I and III), Xylocarpusgranatum (St.II), and Sonneratia alba (St.IV). Diversity index of sapling vegetation atmangrove forest Siak districtwas moderate. Similarity index analysis of sapling vegetationat mangrove forest Siak district showed that there similarities between the saplingvegetation at I station with III station (IS=54.5%), II station with III station (61.5%), IIstation with IV station (IS=50%) and III station with IV station (76.9%). The results ofthis research was developed into units of learning modules on plant ecology course andthe title is Mangrove Community. Validation results indicate that this unit module is validand can be used by students to learning plant ecology. Keywords: Vegetation, Sapling, Mangrove

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model to theStudents' Science Process Skills of The Second Year Students of SMAN Plus of RiauProvince in learning Biology. This study was conducted from April to June 2013using the quasi experiment method with design research by posttest only controlgroup design. Samples were students of class XI.IA.4 (control class) and XI.IA.3(experimental class) which were determined based on random sampling technique.Research variables consisted of independent variables, namely Problem BasedLearning model and the dependent variable which was the students' science processskills with indicators were observation, communication, application, inference, andprediction. Data collected by using the observation sheet. The results showed that theobservation indicator on the control class was 66.67%, while the experimental class at100%. Communication indicator in the control class was 56.89%, whereas theexperimental class was 90.74%. Application indicator on the control class was33.33%, while 93.06% in the experimental class. Inference indicators on control classwas 39.56%, whereas the experimental class was 84.72%. Prediction indicator on thecontrol class was 33.33%, while the experimental class got 100%. The average scoreof process skills in control class was 45.96% with moderate category, while in theexperimental class was 93.70% with a very high category. Inferential statisticalanalysis results obtained t.test = 42.61> t.tabel 2.01 (significant). The students' highestskill score of science process skills were at observation and prediction skills (100%),while the lowest one was the inference skills (84.72%).Keywords: Learning Biology, Model Problem Based Learning, Science Process SkillsStudents

Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe biology teachers’ Technological PedagogicalContent Knowledge (TPCK) at Public Senior High School in Pekanbaru. This studyheld on November 2013 until March 2014. The sample of this study was 33 biologyteachers at Public Senior High School in Pekanbaru that selected by random samplingtechnique. This study conducted with closed-ended and open-ended questionnaire. The closed-ended questionnaire consists of 35 items and is 7 subdomains. Thesubdomains are Technological Knowledge (TK), Pedagogical Knowledge (PK),Content Knowledge (CK), Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK),Technological Content Knowledge (TCK), Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK)and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPCK). The closed-endedquestionnaire items is valid and reliable. Descriptive study was implemented in thisstudy. The result showed that biology teachers’ TK at Public Senior High School inPekanbaru was good enough (M=3,38), PK was good (M=4,05), CK was good(M=3,92), TPK was good (M=3,70), TCK was good (M=3,70), PCK was very good(M=4,26) and TPCK was good (M=3,94). An overall, biology teachers’ TPCK wasgood (M=3,72). That result indicated that biology teacher at Public Senior HighSchool in Pekanbaru could implement their technology knowledge in biologylearning. Keywords: Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge, Senior High School,Biology Teacher

Abstract

This study aims to determine the insect pollinators species in horticulture cropsflowers at Penyasawan Village Kampar Regency and for designing learning media arethe relevant to the Interaction Patterns of Living Things concept. This research is adescriptive study was conducted from June to November 2013. The method in thisstudy used a survey method. Determining of the research location by purposivesampling, based on the types of gardens in the Penyasawan Village Kampar Regency. That are cucumber (Cucumis sativus), luffa (Luffa acutangula), peppers (Capsicumannuum), and eggplant (Solanum melongena). Biological parameters measured is theinsect pollinators species, and physical parameters measured are temperature, humidity and light intensity. Based on the results of this study, founded 12 species ofinsects pollinators include Xylocopa confusa, Xylocopa latipes, Amegilla.sp, Apiscerana, Trigona.sp, Ropalidia fasciata, Nomia punctata, Hylaeus.sp, Meghachile.sp,Syrphus.sp, Hypolimna Bolina, and Appias libythea. The results of the study in theform of videos and photo of specimens will be used as a learning source of biologysuch as learning media (interactive multimedia) to supported the Interaction Patternsof Living Beings concept on material living interactions in the junior high schoolclass VII.Keywords: Insect pollinator , horticulture crops, multimedia biology learning
