This article aims to examine the Quran's resistance to economic oligarchy by referencing the interpretations of Surah Al-Humazah and Al-Hashr: 7. Employing the tafsir Nuzuli approach from the perspective of Muhammad Abid al-Jabiri, the article delves into two main issues: Firstly, the review of the tafsir Nuzuli concerning economic principles in Surah Al-Humazah and al-Hashr verse 7. Secondly, the correlation between these verses and their contextualization in relation to economic oligarchy. The study adopts a literature review using a descriptive-analytical method. Based on an analysis of interpretation aspects, sabab nuzul, and the historical context of pre-Islamic Arabia, the study concludes that the verses articulate the Quran's opposition to economic oligarchy. The interpretation of Surah Al-Humazah condemns the propaganda of economic oligarchy perpetrators, specifically a group of pagan Quraisy elites. The interpretation of al-Hashr verse 7 reveals the wealth distribution policy implemented during the Prophet's leadership in Medina based on maslahah, ensuring the avoidance of concentrating wealth exclusively among a select few affluent individuals. The sabab nuzul of these verses, associated with the conditions of pre-Islamic Arabia, elucidates the Quranic vision of economic justice, allowing for its contextualization in the present era.

Ikhtilaf is differences of opinions in understanding a matter, but not everyone can accept those differences in navigating social life. In this case, some residents of Ceurih community in Aceh can accept the occurrence of ikhtilaf, while others might find it challenging and even reject it although ideally ikhtilaf must be accepted as explained in surah An-Nisa verse 59. Based on this issue, the researcher aimed to examine the community’s understanding in resolving the problem of ikhtilaf among them so far. This study was conducted using a qualitative method with field research as a means of data collection. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis generating descriptive data in the forms of people’s words or oral and observable behaviors. The results show that there were two understandings of resolving ikhtilaf. Some people within the society agreed with the village head’s decisions to resolve disagreements as mentioned in surah An-Nisa verse 59 that it is obligatory to follow ulil amr (the leader) as long as it does not contradict with Al-Quran and Sunnah. However, others dealt with ikhtilaf by making their personal decision without consulting their leader. Therefore, not all members of the community in Ceurih village implemented the essence of surah An-Nisa verse 59 in resolving the occurrence of ikhtilaf.

The identification of the meaning of nafs wāḥidah, as produced by various interpretations through Adam, is claimed to be a biased interpretation mechanism based on certain orientations. This research aims to uncover the interpreters' orientation towards the text by situating the interpretation process as the interpreter's interaction with the text within a specific communication context. To achieve this objective, a qualitative method is employed in this research, utilizing a reception frame introduced by Wolfgang Iser. This study reveals that the interpreter's orientation towards specific meanings is constrained by the linguistic structure of the Qur'an, which has been schematized. This constraint on the interpreter's orientation occurs when seeking the contextual significance of the verse through syntagmatic and paradigmatic interconnections. The interpreter's relationship with the Qur'an within a specific communication context limits and shapes tendencies in the interpretation process, which is text-driven. In this context, the interpretation of the term nafs wāḥidah, in its various forms, does not exhibit any discernible biases towards producing meanings in alignment with the interpreter's preferences. Instead, the interpreter solely seeks contextual clues within the verse's structure, thereby associating the meaning of nafs wāḥidah with other terms in an interconnected context.

This article delves into the recitation of Surah al-Kahf on the live streaming Instagram account of the Dompet Dhuafa community during the Ramadan program. The practice of reading Surah al-Kahf is recommended as one of the Sunnah practices, particularly on Fridays, as established by the hadith of Prophet Muhammad. This phenomenon continues to evolve within society. The research adopts a library research approach and utilizes Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding theory to analyze the phenomenon of reading Surah al-Kahf. The aim is to assess the alignment of the intended message by the video producer with the message perceived by the audience. The research findings reveal two interpretative meanings, in accordance with Stuart Hall's theory of encoding. The first is the dominant position, where the informant advocates for the recitation of Surah al-Kahf as a Sunnah to be performed every Friday. The negotiated position, on the other hand, reflects the informant's belief that reading Surah al-Kahf is indeed a Friday Sunnah, but simultaneously holds a differing perspective. The intended message of the video producer, presenting the recitation of Surah al-Kahf during Ramadan through live Instagram streaming, effectively reaches the audience. This conclusion is drawn from the response of informants who incorporate the recitation of Surah al-Kahf as a regular practice on Fridays, extending beyond the month of Ramadan.

Ecology studies the reciprocal relationship between living organisms and their environment. The Al-Quran contains numerous verses that touch upon ecological themes. The ongoing reality, however, the ecological conditions of environments have not been properly solved which is evident by the rampant illegal logging and the lack of public awareness about environmental conservation. Some efforts to overcome the problem of environmental protection have been carried out by the student’s association of PA-LH Gainpala at Ar-Raniry University in Banda Aceh. This study aims to examine how ecological verses including their meanings and implications were understood and implemented in Gainpala. The type of this study is field research, and the data were collected through interviews and documentation. Then, the data were analyzed and presented using descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that Gainpala members generally had the same understanding of environmental ecology, yet they differed in terms of its implementation in protecting environments such as maintaining cleanliness and promoting environmental campaigns. Furthermore, Gainpala members also understood the messages contained in the Al-Quran, but they had not fully grasped yet the concept of ecological environment mentioned in the Al-Quran.

This paper aims to analyze the interpretive methodology of the Al-Qur’an as proposed by Sahiron Syamsuddin, and its relevance in the discourse surrounding Al-Qur’an interpretation methodology in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative methodology with a library research model, this study primarily relies on Sahiron Syamsuddin’s book “Hermeneutics and Development of the Ulumul Qur’an,” among other works. Secondary sources include books and journal articles on hermeneutics, the Qur’an, and classical to modern-contemporary Tafsir literature. These sources are analyzed using descriptive-interpretive methods and historical-philosophical approaches. The findings of this research are twofold: Firstly, Sahiron’s approach aims to contextualize the relevance of the Qur’an in addressing contemporary issues, proposing an interpretive methodology that reconstructs and integrates classical methods with modern approaches, drawing from Western hermeneutic scholars. Secondly, the ma’nā-cum-maghzā methodology is deemed relevant in the current academic milieu for several reasons: it addresses the concerns of progressive Muslim thinkers; it meets the academic demand for evolving Qur’an study methodologies; and its widespread adoption and influence in academic circles in Indonesia, particularly due to its ability to harmonize classical and contemporary interpretations.

Yāsīn is the name of one of the surahs of the Qur’an that is often recited by Muslims in various circumstances. In Dayah Insan Qur'ani, one of the religious education institutions in Aceh, the recitation was carried out when a theft occurred at Dayah. Surah Yāsīn recited for seven consecutive nights to reveal the theft perpetrator. Several questions about what the normative basis is, how it is recited, and how it affects; It needs to be answered through a study that combines literature review and field study. To obtain primary data, a series of observations, interviews and documentation studies were conducted. Data were analyzed using domain analysis techniques as commonly done in social research, as well as cultural theme analysis techniques that are often used in cultural research. The results showed that so far, no evidence has been found specifically regarding the teaching of the recitation of Surah Yāsīn to reveal theft cases. The recitation of Surah Yāsīn is performed jointly between the students and teachers for seven consecutive nights. This practice is seen as a form of tabarruk with verses of the Qur’an and is also part of tawassul. The influence felt by victims of theft includes a sense of calm and sincerity in accepting test of losing certain items. The effect of this activity on the perpetrators of theft is the emergence of fear, anxiety that encourages some of the perpetrators to return the stolen goods either secretly or openly.

This study examines the eschatological interpretations in Tafsir Fayḍ al-Raḥmān by Sholeh Darat, a prominent Javanese mufasir of the 19th century. It delves into the nuances of Sholeh Darat's interpretation of Surah al-Baqarah verses 24-25, exploring its method, sources, and style, particularly in the context of the Javanese cultural milieu. The research employs library research and content analysis methods, incorporating a historical approach to understand Sholeh Darat's interpretations within the socio-political and cultural dynamics of his era. The study reveals that Sholeh Darat's interpretations are a blend of traditional Sunni views and Sufistic insights, which he adapts to the Javanese context, thus making Islamic eschatology more accessible to the local populace. His critiques of Mu’tazilah views and the rationalist movement of his time reflect his role in safeguarding Islamic orthodoxy in Java. The study concludes that Sholeh Darat's eschatological interpretations in Tafsir Fayḍ al-Raḥmān significantly impact both the religious understanding and social practices of Javanese Muslims, strengthening their faith and providing a more relatable and comprehensible view of Islamic eschatology.

Reciting Al-Quran has become part of Muslim daily practices as a form of worship not only to obtain rewards and to seek tranquility through dzikr (remembering God) but also to comprehend its meanings. The routines of reading the Al-Quran have been done by various groups of age including elderly women in Al-Munawwarah mosque who also learn tahsin (Quranic recitation) diligently to read the Al-Quran properly. This study aims to investigate the relationship between Al-Quran recitation routines and memory retention of elderly women in Al-Munawwarah mosque in Lhok Bengkuang village, Tapaktuan district. The researchers used a quantitative approach to conduct this study with field research as a means to collect data. This data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires to the respondents of the selected sample. Then the data were analyzed by using SPSS to examine the correlation or level of significant relationship between Al-Quran recitation frequency and elderly women’s memory retention. The results of the study show that a significant interrelationship or inferential correlation value of 0.008, with a coefficient correlation value of 0.710 was obtained. The value was less than alpha (0.05), thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the routines of reading the Al-Quran and cognitive function.
