The development of communication technology, especially mobile phones, has affected various aspects of life, including education. At the high school level, the use of mobile phones in class has become an issue that has positive and negative impacts. On the one hand, mobile phones facilitate access to information and support learning, but on the other hand, they cause distraction, reduce concentration, and affect student discipline. Several studies have shown that uncontrolled mobile phone use has a negative impact on students' academic achievement. However, when used wisely, mobile phones can be an effective learning tool. This study aims to explore the effect of mobile phone use on high school students' concentration and active participation in learning. The conclusion suggests that schools need to implement a balanced policy to control mobile phone use and maximize its benefits in education.

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the anti-bullying school program at SMAS Al Azhar Medan based on the perceptions of grade XII students. The program includes various initiatives such as positive discipline, Roots Indonesia, anti-bullying day, and buddy program. The method used was a survey involving 144 respondents from grade XII students. The results showed that most students (55.6%) felt that the program was effective in creating a safe and comfortable environment. As many as 33.3% of students felt comfortable interacting, while 11.1% of students considered the program ineffective. The t-test and ANOVA showed significant differences in student perceptions based on various factors. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that although the anti-bullying program at SMAS Al Azhar Medan has a positive impact, evaluation and improvement are still needed to increase its effectiveness. This study provides recommendations for further development of programs that can strengthen awareness and prevention of bullying in schools.

The objectives of this research are: 1). To find out the criminal act of corruption as a special crime. 2). To find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in handling the criminal act of corruption as a special crime. 3). To find out the efforts made to maximize the performance of handling the criminal act of corruption as a special crime. The results of this study are that efforts to eradicate corruption through fair law enforcement currently still seem to require a tough struggle. Because the crime of corruption is an extraordinary crime (extra ordinary crime) which is different from ordinary criminal crimes, the efforts that must be made require an integrated and extraordinary system. As an extraordinary crime (extra ordinary crime), eradicating corruption requires extraordinary political will so that the President as head of state becomes an important figure in mobilizing and coordinating the role of the Police, Prosecutors, Courts, and the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) to become a powerful force, so that KKN practices, such as bribery, price inflation, gratuities, and other abuses of authority carried out by civil servants or state officials, both at the central and regional levels, can have their room to move narrowed through extraordinary and integrated enforcement methods.

The regulation of restorative justice within the criminal justice system in Indonesia is currently governed by the respective law enforcement agencies, but it has not been codified in the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), which can lead to legal uncertainty. Consequently, there are legal implications arising from the lack of synchronization in the regulation of restorative justice within Indonesia’s criminal justice system, particularly from the perspective of legal certainty. Therefore, this study aims to reconstruct the regulation of restorative justice to ensure legal certainty in the future. This research is a normative-juridical study utilizing both statutory and synchronic approaches. There are fundamental differences concerning the conditions and limitations of criminal acts as regulated by Police Regulation No. 8 of 2021, Prosecutor's Regulation No. 15 of 2020, and Supreme Court Regulation No. 1 of 2024. The existing partial guidelines on restorative justice, particularly regarding the conditions set forth, are inconsistent and cause legal uncertainty in determining which cases may be eligible for restorative justice, especially those under the Police institution, where the criteria are considered overly broad. Thus, the differences in restorative justice regulations among the respective agencies lead to inconsistencies in the conditions and limitations of criminal acts, as well as confusion in the restorative justice process during the investigation and inquiry stages within the Police. There is a need for specific regulation on restorative justice to be incorporated into the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) to avoid inconsistencies and legal uncertainty.

Implementation of criminal sanctions for violations of selling in prohibited places. The formulation of the problem in this study is the factors causing violations of selling in prohibited places, obstacles received in the process of resolving cases of Violations of Selling in Prohibited Places and what is done in implementing sanctions for violations of selling in prohibited places. The purpose of the study is to determine the factors causing violations of selling in prohibited places, to determine the obstacles received in the process of resolving cases of Violations of Selling in Prohibited Places and to determine what efforts are made in implementing sanctions for violations of selling in prohibited places. The results of this study indicate that the factors causing violations of selling in prohibited places are the limited availability of adequate jobs accompanied by an increase in the number of unemployed, economic difficulties, the existence of business opportunities with little capital and quite in demand by many people who are economically affected and the existence of a very rapid flow of urbanization. The obstacles received in the process of resolving cases of Violations of Selling in Prohibited Places consist of internal factors and external factors. Efforts made in implementing sanctions against violations of selling in prohibited places are to increase government attention to street vendors through the provision of adequate and suitable locations, increasing prevention activities through officer patrols and increasing self-security in each environment, both residential and vital places. The government should be able to provide a solution by providing a proper and appropriate place to sell for street vendors so that their existence does not disrupt public order.

There has been intense scrutiny about the design and delivery of curricular in South Africa higher education institutions. Various policies and laws have been established to ensure that the South African higher education contributes to the transformation agenda of the nation. This study contributes to this debate by examining how the South African higher education policies contributes to the transformation of curriculum to meet contemporary socioeconomic needs. The study employs a morphogenetic approach to explore how existing frameworks, such as the Higher Education Act of 1997 and the White Paper for Post-School Education and Training (2014), have shaped the curriculum design and implementation processes in South African universities. The paper begins by discussing the internationalisation of higher education curricula and highlights the need for graduates to develop global competencies. It further examines the role of the South African internationalisation policy in preparing students for the global economy. The research also addresses how policy gaps, such as the inadequate focus on decolonisation and the lack of alignment with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), impact the effectiveness of curriculum transformation efforts. The findings reveal that despite numerous policy frameworks and strategic documents, there remains a disconnect between the goals of higher education policies and the practical realities of curriculum design and delivery. This disconnect contributes to the numerous challenges in the higher education sector, manifested through student protests and dissatisfaction with the relevance of academic programs. The paper concludes that a more nuanced approach to curriculum reform is necessary, one that bridges policy intentions with practical outcomes through continuous dialogue among universities, the government, and industry stakeholders.

"Kurikulum Merdeka" (Independent Curriculum). This paper looks at how the Merdeka Curriculum was developed and implemented in an attempt to raise the standard of instruction at SMA Unggulan Al-Azhar Medan using policy analysis and pertinent theoretical frameworks. In order to understand the goals of the policy, the tactics used, and its effects on the caliber of education, we gather and examine pertinent policy documents, literature evaluations, and pertinent research findings. Our research pinpoints important elements that affect the Merdeka Curriculum's success, including the function of educators and a well-organized curriculum. Furthermore, we identify implementation issues encountered while putting the Merdeka Curriculum into practice and offer suggestions for its advancement and enhancement. In addition to providing insights for education to improve the quality of learning at SMA Unggulan Al-Azhar Medan, this research advances our qualitative understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum as an educational strategy.

This study aims to explore the impact of excessive study hours on students' mental and physical health. In the context of modern education, many students experience pressure to achieve high academic results, which often results in unbalanced study hours. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, this study collected data from 20 students in various classes of SMA AL-Azhar Medan. The results showed that students who studied more than 10 hours per day tended to experience increased levels of stress, anxiety, and sleep problems. In addition, negative impacts were also seen on physical health, with increased complaints such as headaches, drowsiness and fatigue. These findings highlight the need for a more balanced approach to managing study hours, as well as the importance of interventions from schools and parents to support student well-being. Recommendations for healthier educational policies and learning practices are presented as an effort to create a sustainable learning environment.

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of physical fitness gymnastics in improving learning outcomes of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) at Al-Azhar Private High School, Medan. Physical fitness gymnastics is carried out every Wednesday as part of PJOK learning, with the hope of improving students' physical fitness and learning motivation. The research method uses a qualitative approach with the DDAER model (Diagnosis, Design, Action, Evaluation, Reflection) developed by Mulyati Ningsih (2011). The subjects of the study consisted of students who were actively involved in PJOK activities at Al-Azhar Private High School, Medan. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of the study showed that the implementation of physical fitness gymnastics had a positive impact on student learning outcomes in PJOK subjects, as well as increasing student motivation and participation in physical activities at school. Factors that support the effectiveness of physical fitness gymnastics include students' internal motivation and school environmental support, while inhibiting factors include limited facilities and implementation time. This study concludes that physical fitness gymnastics can be used as an effective learning method in improving the quality of physical education at Al-Azhar Private High School, Medan.

English learning independence is currently problematic in carrying out the learning process. English learning independence is certainly influenced by many factors. This study aims to analyze and determine the relationship between teacher interpersonal communication and visual learning styles on students' English learning independence. This study is included in quantitative research with an associative causal nature. The sample of this study was 168 students spread across Saffiyatul Amaliyah students. The research data were collected using a research scale that was declared valid and reliable. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study showed that (1)There is a relationship between teacher interpersonal communication and students' English learning independence.Based on the results of the study, it was found that the regression coefficient value of the Interpersonal Communication variable (X1) was 0.329, which is positive. This means that Teacher Interpersonal Communication (X1) has a positive effect on English Learning Independence (Y). It is known that the t statistic or t count of Interpersonal Communication (X1) is 4.863> t table = 1.97 and the Sig. value is 0.000, which is <0.05 significance level, then Interpersonal Communication (X1) has a significant effect on English Learning Independence (Y). So it can be concluded that Teacher Interpersonal Communication (X1) has a positive and significant effect on English Learning Independence (Y).(2)There is an influence of visual learning style on students' independence in learning English.Based on the research results, it was found that the regression coefficient value of the Visual Learning Style variable (X2) was 0.106, which is positive. This means that when the Visual Learning Style (X2) increases by 1 unit, the English Learning Independence (Y) tends to increase by 0.106. It is known that the t statistic or t count of the Visual Learning Style (X2) is 1.997> t table = 1.97 and the Sig. value is 0.047, which is <0.05 significance level, then the Visual Learning Style (X2) has a significant effect on English Learning Independence (Y).(3)There is an influence of interpersonal communication between teachers and visual learning styles on students' English learning independence., Based on the results of the hypothesis test that has been carried out, it was found that the calculated F value is 13.965 and the Sig. value is 0.000. It is known that the calculated F value is 13.965 > F table 3.050 and the Sig. value is 0.000 < 0.05, then Interpersonal Communication (X1) and Visual Learning Style (X2) together or simultaneously have a significant effect on English Learning Independence (Y), and the coefficient of determination (R-Square) is 0.145. This value can be interpreted that the variables Interpersonal Communication (X1) and Visual Learning Style (X2) are able to influence English Learning Independence (Y) by 14.5%. it can be concluded that the visual learning style and teacher interpersonal communication together have an effect on English learning independence in students. The contribution of both in influencing learning independence is 14.5%. the remaining 100% - 14.5% = 85.5% is explained by other variables or factors.
