Pillar of Physics Education: International Journal on Physics Education is an open-access and peer-reviewed journal, published by Universitas Negeri Padang, which is dedicated to intercharge for the results of high-quality in all aspect of physics education. Abstract

Achieving the competencies of students in science subjects has not shown optimal results because students are not accustomed to finding, searching for, and solving their own concepts learned, but only listening and writing what is conveyed by the teacher. Teachers often deliver learning material by lecture methods rather than practicing in the laboratory. In addition, students still depend on what is conveyed by the teacher and the low interest or willingness of students to read can also lead to low competency of students. Assessment activities that still focus on the final assessment must be changed to authentic assessment, where authentic assessment assesses from the preparation, process, and final results of learning activities. Therefore, researchers chose to use the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPS) model with authentic assessments to be able to improve students' competencies. This research is limited to heat and energy material which aims to investigate the effect of the application of the CUPS model on increasing the competency of VII grade students in SMP 3 Lengayang.The type of research conducted is Quasy Experiment Research with the design of Randomized Control Group Only Design. The population of this study was VII grade students of SMP 3 Lengayang who were enrolled in the odd semester of the 2017/2018 academic year. Sampling is done by purposive sampling technique. Knowledge competency data were obtained through written tests. Data obtained were analyzed using two similarity tests on average.The results showed that knowledge competency data, the average experimental class 78.36 was higher than the control class 70.26. The data is normally distributed and the variance is homogeneous, so that the two similarity tests are carried out on average with the t-test, obtained tcount = 2,378 and t table = 2,019. It can be concluded that the application of LKS is based on the CUPS model by giving an influence on increasing the achievement of science competencies of the seventh grade students of SMP 3 Lengayang on all three competencies

Abstract

Increasing the achievement of learners' physical competencies can be done one of them by using a variety of teaching materials, as well as the use of learning models that can improve student learning activities. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of integrated physics teaching materials on social intelligence through a problem-based learning model towards the achievement of physics competencies of class X students of SMAN 16 Padang. This research is classified as Pre-Experimental Design with the design of Pretest- Posttest One Group Design. The population used is all students in class X 2018/2019. The sample is determined using purposive sampling technique. The data of this study include data on attitudes, knowledge and skills competency. After doing the research and continuing with analyzing the data it can be concluded that the use of integrated physics teaching materials social intelligence through problem-based learning models affects the achievement of knowledge competencies by 64.91% while the achievement of student skills competencies is 73.91%.

Abstract

The purpose of research analyzes misconceptions of students in understanding the material stairght motion and parabolic motion in class X SMAN 1 Padang. This type of research was descriptive with a quantitative approach. The population this research was all students class X SMAN 1 Padang who were enrolled in the 2018/2019 school year. The sampling in this research taken with purposive sampling technique. The sample in this research consisted of five classes. The research instrument was a multipe choice FCI test question with open reasons accompanied by CRI. The result of anlyziz data gotten that avrage of misconceptions was 67,5%, unknowing was 22,86%, knowing was 8,42%, knowing but not sure was 1,29%. The froms of misconception experienced by students are: 1) heavy bals faster than light balls, 2) the greater the gravitational force if it approaches the ground or the surface of the earth, 3) the acceleration of the beam b is greater than the beam  a  because when beam a was on the five line beam B was on seven line. The causes of misconceptions are associative thinking, humanistic thinking, wrong intuisi, incomplete/ wrong reasoning, cognitive development, students abilities, and student experience.
