Abstract

Based on data from the International Diabetes Federation in 2014, it was found that type 2 diabetes sufferers are increasing every year in every country and by 2035 it is estimated that diabetes sufferers will increase to 592 million people, and Indonesia is in 7th place. Diabetes is a degenerative disease that occurs for life. Diabetics will experience difficult times due to changes in themselves, so they need support from those around them, especially family support to help them control their lifestyle and self-management care for families with diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic disease that requires diabetes self-management to prevent serious complications. This study aims to identify the relationship between family support and self-management of people with diabetes mellitus at the Ainon Pematangsiantar Clinic. The design in this study used a quantitative approach to cross sectional design with a sample of 35 respondents. Data analysis used the Chi Square test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between family support and diabetes self-management (p value = 0.274 at a = 0.05). Researchers suggest the need for dissemination of information related to self-management through counseling and also the need for home visits for those who cannot attend the Ainon Clinic due to physical conditions that do not allow it.

Abstract

The corporate environment has changed dramatically since the start of globalization, both in terms of complexity and dynamism. Companies are coping with shifting market conditions, changing workforce demographics and diversity, technological advancements, increased customer and quality focus, a talent shortage, and shifting economic realities (Noe, 2002). In order to attain long-term sustainability and total organizational success, it is crucial for businesses to continuously alter their business strategy, policies, and practices to conform to the shifting needs of the business environment. In other words, firms are compelled to implement and successfully manage change continuously (Bridges & Mitchell, 2000; Kanter, 1985). Despite the fact that organizations need to manage change more effectively, 70% of change initiatives fail (Beer &Nohria, 2000), and this failure rate has remained stable over time. Insufficient attention to issues relating to people is one of the most frequently mentioned causes of change implementation failure (Spiker & Lesser, 1995; Kotter, 1995). During the 1990s, there has been widespread recognition of the significance of employees, their psychological reactions, and their behavior during organizational transformation; yet, in practice, managers do not place enough emphasis on these concerns (Becker & Gerhart, 1996). Others who have conducted empirical studies in this area concur with this viewpoint. For instance, research on the implementation of a customer relationship management (CRM) project at three banks in New Zealand and discovered that firms tend to prioritize technological difficulties while ignoring issues relating to people.

Abstract

A lot depends on the financial institutions of an economy and their adequate performance drives the nation towards economic development. Banks are the main financial institutions of any country and they ensure financial stability by providing timely financial services to its customers. Both public and private sector banks are necessary in an economy which will give them a healthy competition among each other such that they will contribute towards the financial development of the country. The financial soundness of the banking sector is very much necessary especially in a country like India that will drive one step forward towards inclusive growth. Looking at the banking sector of our economy in the recent scenario, the researchers attempted to evaluate the financial performance of both public and private sector banks of our country with the help of the largest banks of their kind. CAMEL model was used in the study to compare the overall financial performance between the top most banks such that the objectives of the study can be fulfilled. The results of the study were quite clear and it ensures that the private sector banks of our country are giving tough competition to its peer counterparts. Finally, conclusion has been provided by the researchers based on the findings of the study such that the sector can be improved in coming times not only to satisfy its customers but also to ensure economic sustainability in the economy. Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem in Indonesia that is a cross-sectoral problem due to its complex and multifactor causal factors. The government has a role of involvement and capacity in stunting reduction interventions. One of the determinants of stunting in Aceh Singkil District is open defecation which is an indicator of WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) that contributes to the incidence of inflammatory diseases. This study aims to analyze the determinant of open defecation with stunting incidence in Aceh Singkil District. This study used a qualitative design with Focus Group Discussion data collection techniques for the regional working unit in Aceh Singkil District. The results showed that open defecation is still one of the causes of stunting in Aceh Singkil District where open defecation behavior still exists, such as digging landfills, flying toilets, and public bathing, washing, and toilet facilities in rivers. The problems related to this are the low level of proper drinking water facilities, the behavior of open defecation, and the lack of clean water sources. The conclusion is that there is a need for support from policymakers in improving specific interventions carried out by cross-sectors, especially the rules on Gampoeng for residents who are still doing defecation.

Abstract

Abstract: Gender inequality remains a persistent issue worldwide. In order to measure and track progress towards gender equality, the Gender Inequality Index (GII) was introduced by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2010. The GII is a composite index that measures gender-based inequalities in three dimensions: reproductive health, empowerment, and labor market participation. This paper provides an overview of the methodology used to calculate the GII, including the selection of indicators and the weighting system. We also discuss the strengths and limitations of the GII as a measure of gender inequality, and highlight areas for future research.
