Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding probiotics to water quality, Bacillus sp population and production performance of striped catfish. Completely randomized design experiment with three treatments ponds without probiotics without changing water (NN), ponds plus probiotics without changing water (PNW) and ponds given probiotics with 10% water change per day (PW). three replications each. The results showed that the water quality in the experimental pond was still within the acceptable range for fish growth. The TOM levels of the ponds that were given probiotics were lower than the control ponds. The PNW ponds with the lowest TOM levels turned out to have the highest TAN levels. The population of Bacillus sp in NN, PNW and PW ponds was not significantly different (P>0.05), however, the population of Bacillus PNW was 42.51% higher than NN, while PW was 17.38% higher than NN ponds. The abundance of plankton and the uniformity index of NN, PNW, and PW ponds were not significantly different (P>0.05). The abundance of plankton in NN was 203% higher than PNW and PW was 73% higher than PNW ponds. The growth rate and individual weight gain were significantly different (P<0.05), the growth rate of the PNW pond was higher than that of the NN pond, while the PW pond was the same as the PNW and NN ponds. The highest additional individual weight was in the PW pond, followed by the PNW pond and the lowest in the NN pond. Survival and biomass addition were not significantly different (P>0.05).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the best dose of herbal supplements in feed for growth and survival of Colossoma macropomum with a recirculation system. This research was conducted from 27 November - 6 January 2021 at the UPT Experiment Pool Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University of Riau. The container used was a black tub with a volume of 100 L as many as 15 units with a stocking density of 20 individuals / 60 L. This study used a one-factor completely randomized design (CRD) method with five levels of treatment and three replications. The level of treatment applied in this study was P0 = without giving herbal supplements (control), P1 = doses of herbal supplements 100 mL / kg of feed, P2 = 200 mL/kg of feed, P3 = 300 mL / kg of feed, and P4 = 400 mL / kg of feed. The results showed that giving herbal supplements to feed with different doses had a significant effect (P <0.05) on growth but had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the survival of Colossoma macropomum. The best treatment was found at the herbal supplement dosage of 300 ml / kg of feed, which resulted in absolute weight growth (24.24 g), absolute length growth (5.04 cm), specific growth rate (5.29%), feed efficiency (137, 96%), feed conversion ratio (0.72), survival rate (93.3%), total erythrocytes 1.64x104 cells / mm3, hemoglobin level 9.00 g/dL and blood glucose 89.33 mg/dL.

Abstract

The increase in the human population causes the amount of organic and inorganic waste to increase. The decomposition of inorganic waste is relatively longer compared to organic waste, therefore it is very harmful to the coastal environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the type, weight, distribution, density, and to compare the density and type of inorganic waste at Sebalang Beach and Tanjung Selaki Beach. Garbage collection and measurement of oceanographic parameters were carried out directly from March to April 2020. Garbage was collected on a 100 meter transect following the shoreline at each point at high tide and low tide. Current and wave were measured at two points with four repetitions. Waste data is separated by type, weight and presented descriptively. The results showed that the amount of macro-debris waste was higher than meso-debris waste with plastic waste that was more dominant than other types of waste. Sebalang Beach has a higher density of trash than Tanjung Selaki Beach.
