Abstract

The environmental issues to be addressed, particularly in refrigeration and air conditioning, is the destruction of ozone layer and the effects of global warming due to the usage of un-environmental friendly refrigerant, as R22, or generally synthetic refrigerant. These refrigerants had high ODP and GWP. One alternative refrigerant is hydrocarbon refrigerant (HC). Hydrocarbons have several advantages such as environmental friendly and replace the previous refrigerant, without replacing components, and less filling need. The working pressure is also lower, thus reducing the power consumption. With these advantages, the Hydrocarbon refrigerants are good alternative. In other hand, to improve performance of refrigeration system is by lowering the temperature of liquid line using heat exchanger. In this study, numerical simulation was conducted to examine the effect of liquid to suction heat exchanger utilization on the performance of a unitary air-conditioning system using hydrocarbon refrigerant as a cooling fluid. The results are, heat exchanger utilization increases refrigeration effect by rising of effectivity, the highest increasing is about 7%. LSHX also rise up the compression work with increase of effectivity by 19%. Coefficient of performance (COP) and relative capacity index decrease by 5%. Decreasing of performance is higher in the unit that operates at higher temperature.

Abstract

Although many new approaches have been developed in facility planning, the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) procedure still appears to be widely used particularly for container terminal layout design. This paper presents a revised Systematic Layout Planning which can address some of the limitations on its application for Container Terminal System (CTS). According to the literature SLP lacks a method to use information on containers handling routings as input data, and it does not have the ability to generate layouts that are a hybrid combination of functional and cellular layouts for CTS. SLP is based on aggregation of an Activity Relationship Chart and/or a From-To-Chart into an Activity Relationship Diagram. This is followed by the determination of the amount of space required to be assigned to each activity and the availability of that space for CTS. However, Flow Analysis can be incorporated to the method to identify causes of delay in containers flows such as complex operation sequences at CTS, high volume, variety of equipments, ineffective facility layout, and inappropriate assignment of equipments for operations. This study suggest that the integration of flow analysis in the enhanced SLP for CTS can be done to achieve a better layout design methodology. Moreover, using SLP with flow analysis approach can provide a higher flexibility to cope with fluctuations are common in the process.

Abstract

This research is based on background behind the results of observations and experiences researcher, that process especially the surface turning is strongly influenced by the cutting angle of the tool, feeding, cutting speed ,depth of cut and others. Problem of this research is how the influence of variation feeding, cutting speed ,depth of cut on the use of the lathe process to the level of roughness workpiece surface ST 37. This research uses factorial method 2k K is variable. The variables used in this research are cutting speed (50 m / min and 80 m / min), depth of cut (0.3 mm and 0.7 mm) and feeding (0.07 mm / rev - 0.09 mm / rev). The conclusions of the results of this study are cutting speed and depth of cut have significant influence against surface roughness, where as the rate of infestation is not significant effect on surface roughness. because the cutting speed and depth of cut has a F-value greater than Ftable. Based on the conclusions of the results of this study, it is recommended: To obtain optimum surface roughness is to use lowest cutting speeds and lowest depth of cut while the feeding can be set at maximum conditions because no significant effect on surface roughness. In this study the optimum surface roughness obtained was 1.90 µm under experimental conditions; cutting speed 80 m / min (lowest), feeding 0.09 mm / rev (low) and depth of cut 0.3 mm (lowest).

Abstract

In line with the economical development, there are a lot of old buildings renovation which produces material waste like stayrofoam. To use the existing stayrofoam waste, the research on the use of stayrofoam waste for concrete mixture was performed considering that stayrofoam is hard enough. By using part of stayrofoam fraction in the aggregate for concrete mixture, it is expected that it doesn’t affect the quality or pressure strength of the produced concrete. This is more economical since the pebble price is more expensive than stayrofoam price. The aim of the research is to find out the percentage of stayrofoam in the coarse aggregate for concrete mixture so that it doesn’t affect the concrete pressure strength, seek for the correlation between concrete pressure strength and the percentage of stayrofoam in coarse aggregate for concrete mixture, seek for the correlation between concrete pressure strength and aggregate weathering. In this research, the testing material is in the form of cube 10 x 10 x 10 cm with 8 test specimens, percentage of stayrofoam tile in the mixture, that is 0, 5, 10, 15 % of its coarse aggregats. From the research results, the compressive strength without stayrofoam 128 kgf / cm2 medium if the aggregate coarsely mixed stayrofoam 5% compressive strength of concrete to 103 kgf / cm2. can be said concrete compressive strength decreased by 24,30 kgf / cm2 at 7 days concrete age. Strong strength without stayrofoam 128 kgf / cm2 moderate when aggregate coarsely mixed stayrofoam 10% concrete compressive strength to 77.90 kgf / cm2. The compressive strength of concrete drops by 50.10 kgf / cm2. However, at stayrofoam mixture 15% compressive strength of concrete at 7 days old was 119,50 kgf / cm2 and decrease only 8,50 kgf / cm2. The addition of stayrofoam affects the compressive strength of the concrete.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate whether the relationship between bank competition and bank risky behavior linear or non-linear. Using Indonesian bank-level data, we run an empirical analysis using GMM (Generalized Method of Moment) method. We find that bank competition has negative correlation with bank risky behavior, while positivecoefficient for the quadratic form of competition. This result provide strong support for non-linear relationship between bank competition and bank risky behavior in Indonesia.

Abstract

The current fuel demand in Indonesia has increased. In contrary, fossil oil supply has decreased. It will be concerned if fossil oil run out. So, it is urged to replace it with bioethanol. Compared to fossil fuels, bioethanol has the advantages of being renewable, providing cleaner burning and producing no green-house gases. Biotehanol is a fuel derived from renewable sources of feedstock. There are a lot of natural resources that need to be investigated for ethanol production such as sweet potato and cassava. This study was used experimental method. Ethanol yielded from cassava was higher than sweet potato. Highest effective fermentation time was at 72 hours at any condition. Adding inokulum Zymomonas mobilis was increased the ethanol yielded on cassava and sweet potato. Inoculum concentration at 14% was the most effective and highest ethanol yielded. This treatment was produced ethanol yielded about 59% for cassava and 47% for sweet potato.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see the extent to which the role of management control system to waste and its implications for financial performance on flexible packaging company in Indonesia especially those located on the island of Java. Waste reduce the variables that affect the cost elements in this case the cost of goods sold. With good control of waste expected cost of production related to the production process of getting down and ultimately financial performance such as gross profit margin will increase. Waste can be defined as anything that adds to the time and cost of making a product but do not add value to the product from the process of transformation of inputs into outputs therefore need to be eliminated. All of these activities is a waste to extend the production process (production lead time). Associated with seven types of waste that are most common in industrial packaging is overproduction, inventory, overprocessing, and defect therefore the role of management control system becomes very important to implement and run as effectively and efficiently as possible in order to minimize waste that is because if the waste can be reduced then profit by itself will increase and ultimately financial performance will be better. This study used data from 107 respondents were 107 flexible packaging company in Indonesia, located on Java Island, while an analytical technique used is path analysis using IBM SPSS software version 20. From the data processing result that management control systems and a significant positive effect to waste, on the other side, and waste management control system simultaneously also affects positively and significant to financial performance, while waste is positive but not significant effect on financial performance as well as management control systems but not significant positive effect on financial performance.

Abstract

In the industrial era 4.0, the agricultural sector began to shift to the concept of modern agriculture that embraces sustainable agriculture. The concept of sustainable agriculture is to pay attention to human needs in the future. Many ways can be applied in the development of sustainable agriculture, one of which is hydroponic farming. However, at present, hydroponic plants are not widely known to the public due to the lack of promotion media for hydroponic farmers, resulting in the absence of a buying and selling process for hydroponic vegetables. One of the efforts is to develop a hydroponic e-marketplace based education system. The hydroponic e-marketplace-based trading system can be used as an alternative for hydroponic farmers, as a media for promotion, communication and information. The benefits felt by hydroponic farmers and consumers directly and indirectly have a positive influence, especially from the increasingly broad marketing channels can increase production demand, make it easier for consumers to shop for hydroponic vegetables by saving time and energy, and makes it easier for consumers to see the market price of hydroponic vegetables for sale.
