Abstract

This study presents the conflict in bankruptcy case of PT TX, the biggest cellular telecommunication operator in Indonesia. GMCR method is used for describing conflict condition in bankruptcy until equilibrium solution is obtained. There are three conflict situations (frames). Every player has desires formulated as options. All options are combined to generate scenarios. The scenarios are sorted by player’s preferences, then stability analysis is done by using solution concept. The result shows that 1 (one) scenario in frame I, 9 (nine) scenarios in frame II, and 6 (six) scenarios in frame III are feasible. Equilibrium solution scenarios for conlict are obtained which are scenario 3 for frame I, scenario 13 for frame II, and scenario 2 for frame III. Keywords: Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR), Game Theory, Conflict, Bankruptcy

Abstract

Risk is the impact due to the uncertainty arising from the effort to achieve the company's goals. Risk management is a process to reduce corporate losses due to risk. PT Telkom one of the SOEs that has implemented risk management with COSO-CRM as references that combine with good corporate governance, has managed  the risks, such as; legal and compliance. This success is due to the commitment of PT Telkom's leaders to make risk management as a corporate culture. Leaders who implemented leadership - "model the way" is the figure required in managing these fraud risks. Leaders should be able to inspire all members of the company to have a corporate culture that includes a culture of risk. The risk culture allows every member of a company to be proactive in every action, decision, and policy for the company's stakeholders. Keywords: risk, SOEs, COSO_CRM, leadership, model the way

Abstract

The volume of bank credit could lead to procyclicality problems. This study analyzes the factors that influence the volume of bank credit. This study uses panel data regression, with monthly data on credit volume, Non Perfoming Loan (NPL), Third-Party Funds (DPK) and Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) of domestic and foreign banks, from January 2013 until August 2014. NPL, DPK, and CAR are used as independent variables. The research result shows that Fixed Effect method is the best technique to show the significant variable which influence the volume of bank credit. In addition, NPL and CAR have significant influence on the volume of the bank credit. Keywords: NPL, DPK, CAR, Credit, Procyclicality

Abstract

Funding liquidity issues have become the main cause of crisis particularly due to banks’ interconnectedness. This study assesses funding liquidity risk faced by Indonesian banks and also identified which bank can be classified to systemically important banks (SIBs). Each bank’s funding liquidity risk is measured by the distance between the real liquidity condition and the ideal condition, while the identification of SIBs is based on the size and interconnectedness of every bank. This study employs liquidity mismatch index which contains of relative liquidity surplus and absolute liquidity surplus to current assets and current liabilities of 80 Indonesian conventional banks from January 2007 until December 2014. The result according to the relative liquidity surplus is that Indonesian banking system’s liquidity condition is near to the ideal condition, yet there are few banks experiencing too much excess liquidity. According to the absolute liquidity surplus, the result is that banks with higher core equity (classified in BUKU 3 and 4) are more potentially to become SIBs. Keywords: funding liquidity risk, systemically important banks, relative liquidity surplus, absolute liquidity surplus, risk contribution

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the effect of profitability, capital structure, growth prospect, and company valuation on abnormal return (market-adjusted model) of public companies around the announcement of stock split in Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period of 2010-2013. In this research, Return on Equity (ROE) is used as a proxy of profitability, Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) as a proxy of capital structure, Price to Earnings Ratio (PER) as a proxy of growth prospect, and Price to Book Value (PBV) as a proxy of company valuation. The results of this research indicate that profitability, capital structure, growth prospect, and company valuation simultaneously have no significant effect on abnormal return. Partially, profitability has positive and not significant effect on abnormal return, while capital structure, growth prospect, and company valuation have negative and not significant effect on abnormal return. Keywords: Profitability, Capital Structure, Growth Prospect, Company Valuation, Stock Split, Reverse Split, and Abnormal Return

Abstract

The process of insurance claims begins when the insurer submits a claim to the insurance company until the decision stage of the court. In practice, a number of insurance claim processes face problems causing disputes. Badan Mediasi dan Arbitrase Asuransi Indonesia (BMAI) reported that during the period 2006-2016 there have been 618 cases of insurance disputes. This study aims to create a model of insurance cheating behavior based on game theory approach. The result of backward induction analysis yields eight propositions which explain that the cheating of insurance claim can be done either by the dishonest policy holder or the dishonest claim clerk. Keywords: backward induction, game theory, insurance claim, insurance dispute, modelling

Abstract

This study discusses the impact oil price volatility on macroeconomic variables, in particular economic growth, inflation, and output gap. Data used in this study are the quarterly standard deviation of oil spot price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), and macroeconomic variables of 19 countries in the world for the period of time of 1997.Q1 – 2013.Q4. This study uses Least Square Dummy Variable (LSDV) equation that is converted into Fixed Effect Model (FEM). This study concludes that oil price volatility influences inflation, output gap, and economic growth. Through inflation, oil price volatility affects the interest rate. Moreover, estimation using equation system also shows the interconnection among macroeconomic variables and how oil price volatility could influence other variables. Keywords: oil price volatility, macroeconomic variables, inflation, interest rate

Abstract

The effect of economic integration on environmental quality in the member country is still debatable. Economic intergration is believed to increase economic activity in the country, and if Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis is confirmed, increased national income will accelerate the environmental quality improvement. Indonesia is the member of several economic integrations, including AFTA. This study aims to investigate the effect of AFTA on environmental quality in Indonesia, through investigating Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC). An Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression analysis is employed, and CO2 emission as environmental quality indicator is used as dependent variable (it was planned that this study also used forest cover, and SO2 emission, as dependent variables; but data limitation problem on those variables has withdrawn the plan). Two independent variables, namely: number of population and economy opennes, other than Indonesia’s GDP per capita. The result suggests that AFTA does not affect the environmental quality in Indonesia. Keywords: Economic Integration, AFTA, environmental quality, Environmental Kuznets Curve
