Local milk production can only meet 18 to 20 percent of the national milk demand. This study aims to investigate the level of technical efficiency of the people's small hold farmers’ cattles in Java and to analyze factors that influence milk production using Stochastic Frontier Analysis. The results showed that the feed per animal per day had a positive effect on the average milk production per animal per day; while the size of cage per animal had a negative effect. The average level of efficiency of dairy cattle business in Java is 83.56 percent, but statistically there are effects of inefficiency in this business. The rapid development of information and communication technology has caused the emergence of a new economy, indicated by the phenomenon of internet-based businesses or e-commerce. This research uses the Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to analyzes the impact of e-commerce on Indonesia’s economic growth in 1996-2015. The results show that the development of e-commerce as represented by the increase of the number of e-commerce transaction value, the increase of the number of business websites, and the number of internet users is proven to bring positive impact on Indonesia’s economic growth. This validates the hypothesis which states the increasing number of e-commerce transaction value, which is formed by the interaction between business websites as the supply indicator and the internet users as the demand indicator, shall bring enhancement to the intensity of macroeconomic activities. However, the effect is only significant for the long-run relationship but is not significant in the short-run relationship. Keywords: e-commerce; economic growth; ARDL

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) benefits the host country by technology transfer and spillover effect toward its workforce. Meanwhile, the quality of human capital (HC) in the host country may attract FDI. This study aims to examine the relationship of FDI inflow and the quality of HC in Indonesia and India and to investigate FDI orientation. Applied two-stage least square to time series data of the year 2000-2015, the result shows a causal relationship between FDI and HC in Indonesia, but one-way relationship from FDI to HC in India. Government spending on education and health has positive effects on HC in both countries. In Indonesia, FDI is positively affected by HC and growth, while in India, only by country risk index. Keywords: Foreign Direct Investment, human capital, two stage least square

Compared to other countries, housing financing in Indonesia is relatively left behind. In Indonesia, housing financing is dominantly by banking’s mortgage loan. Furthermore, the ratio of home loan to GDP of the country is still insignificant. If we compare to other countries’ banking sector, Indonesia’s banking sector is less efficient. This could be observed from the interest rate spread of the banking sector. This article argues that, housing policy in Indonesia should focus on improving housing financing efficiency through: efficient primary housing financing, liquid and stable bond market, and supporting regulation based on cost and benefit analysis; in order to provide affordable housing for low income people in Indonesia. Keywords: housing financing; housing policy; banking sector efficiency; Indonesia

ABSTRACTCapital account liberalization possibly promotes growth. However, the policy is considered a source of crisis. This study examines the effect of foreign capital inflows, in terms of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) and FPI (Foreign Portfolio Investment), on economic growth and examines the determinants of capital flows to selected Asian countries over the 1998-2017 period. Based on the Two-Stage Least Square result, higher USA growth rates and lower interest rate differential are push factors of FDI, while domestic economic growth is a pull factor of FDI and FPI. The long-run FDI positively and significantly affects growth, whereas FPI has a negative but non-significant effect. The result indicates that an increase in growth can boost FDI inflows thereupon leads to higher growth. Keywords: economic growth; capital flows; liberalization
