The objects of this research focusing on five most developed MSME in Sambirejo Village, Ngawen, Gunung Kidul namely food, processed zinc, woven cloth, tile and local gabion. The business processes analyzed by using supply chain management approach. This study conducted a qualitative method based on interview and observation. Results of the study show that the pattern of MSME supply chains in Sambirejo Village is still relatively simple. In their processes, these MSME supply raw materials from suppliers or distributors of raw materials then process them. Abstract

ABSTRACTCompetition has long been debated as a vital factor determining banking performance and stability. The broad perspectives are divided into two streams, the ‘competition-fragility’ and ‘competition-stability’ view. Banking industry in Indonesia is experiencing consolidation waves as an effort to strengthen capital and enhance intermediation performance. The consolidation, however, inevitably alter the degree of competition. In this study, we propose a detailed assessment of competition effect through disentanglement amongst different bank clusters, particularly with respect to BUKU classification. The separation is done through Fixed Effect Vector Decomposition method, complemented by interaction variables. We found an indication that competition amongst Indonesian banks can be divided into two segments: the first containing BUKU1 and 2, while the latter BUKU3 and 4. Observing 57 banks using monthly data in 2006-2015, our study supports the competition-stability view, suggesting competition has positive influences on bank soundness. Adding more market power to the leader in each segment (BUKU2 and BUKU4, respectively) would have insignificant, if not malign, effect; the opposite for the challenger. Further, aside from competition, we found that interbank interaction promotes soundness. Keywords: competition; bank soundness; fixed effect vector decomposition

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn 2011, the Indonesian government issued a Tax Holiday policy as an incentive to attract investment. However, the policy is still considered not optimal in increasing FDI realization in Indonesian pioneer industry. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Tax Holiday policy in increasing the realization of direct investment in Indonesian pioneer industry; as well as to investigate other factors influencing the inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the industry. The results of descriptive analysis and VECM show that Tax Holiday policy has increased the realization of direct investment of pioneer industries in 2012 and 2014 by 5.17% and 4.66%, respectively. In addition, there are other factors that influence the FDI inflow to the Indonesian pioneer industry, namely: GDP, economic openness, labor force participation, loan interest rates, exchange rates, and per-capita GDP. Maintaining the stability of these factors is important to support Tax Holiday's policy in increasing direct investment activities in Indonesia pioneer industry. Keywords: tax holiday; Foreign Direct Investment; Indonesian pioneer industry

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe relationship between government expenditures and economic growth is an ambiguous relationship. The results of previous empirical studies indicate that the relationship between the two variables can be a positive or negative relationship. The purpose of this study is to investigate a more detailed relationship between economic growth and government expenditures. The detailed information between these two variables is obtained by investigating the direction of the relations in three levels, i.e. in various countries, in Indonesia, and in provinces in Indonesia. Furthermore, this research also investigates the variables which can drive the economic growth in those three groups of estimations. This research is conducted by using fixed effects panel data method for 96 countries and 33 provinces in Indonesia. The countries’ data are estimated for the period of 1991–2014, while the provinces in Indonesia  data are estimated for the period 2011–2013. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the relationship between government expenditures and economic growth depends on many factors. Moreover, the results also show variations in the relations between the two observed variables in the three groups of estimations. Keywords: economic growth; government expenditures; panel data; fixed effects model

Abstract

Special and continuous attention need to be paid to the phenomenon of underground economic activities, especially in deciding the determination of this economic activities to decrease, monitor, and prevent phenomena that are adverse to national/regional income. The aims of this study are to analyze the activities and the potential for corrupt behavior of the underground economic agents, looking to avoid the tax revenues and implications on interest prices from underground economic activities. The method used for this research is a Explanatory Sequential Mix Methods, first analyzed quantitatively by formulating an equation model and applied using the purposefully selected method. The findings of the study showed that corruptive behavior in the underground economic activities has a positive influence on the amount of money supplied in narrow terms (M1-currency) from the regional levels in the 3T (foremost-outermost-underdeveloped) region. Increased corruption levels can boost the amount of money circulating in society. During most of the higher tax collection, the supply of money will increase (M1). It is necessary to implement pentahelix elements to build a synergy between actors and to begin implementing and mastering electronic/digital systems with E-Government systems in every financial transaction.   Keywords: Underground economy; narrow money; tax on revenue; sequential explanatory methods; corruption
