Abstract

Decreased water quality greatly affects the life of various aquatic organisms, one of which is fish. Various community activities around the watershed can produce a variety of contaminants, both organic and inorganic. These pollutants can contaminate the river either directly or indirectly. The polluted aquatic environment will affect the diversity of fish. The purpose of this study is to examine the diversity of fish in the Siak River of Tebing Tinggi Okura Village of Pekanbaru City which was conducted from June to July 2021. Survey method is used in this study. Fish sampling is done through fishing with local fishermen using fishing gear, namely “belat”. The results of the study showed the number of fish obtained in this study is as many as 7 fish families consisting of 13 species. The value of the diversity index (H') is 2.13, the dominance index (C) is 0.35 and the uniformity index (E) is 0.6. This results that the diversity of fish in the Siak River of Tebing Tinggi Okura Village is still relatively moderate. Low dominance index (C) value caused by thebalance of uniformity index value (E)

Abstract

Selectivity of fishing gear is defined as the ability of  fishing  gear  to  achieve certain fishing targets according to type and size during the fishing process and allows all unwanted bycatch to be released without injury. The  purpose of this study was to determine the  selectivity  of  mesh  size  and composition of drift gill net in PPN Sungailiat. The result  of this research is that  the drift gill net with mesh size of 8.89 cm catches tuna with a fork length range of 32 – 45.7 cm and the highest catching ratio is found in the fork length (L) = 37.7  cm with Sa = 0.999289326. Meanwhile, the mesh size of 10.16 cm caught fish that had a fork length range of 36.6 – 50.3 cm and the highest catch ratio was for the fork length (L) = 43.3 cm with Sb = 0.999974108. So that the drift gill nets with mesh size 10.16 cm are more selective than drift gill nets with a mesh size of 8.89 cm, because the L value is larger and the S value is closer to 1.  As  well  as  catching more large fish that deserve to be caught (≥ 40 cm).

Abstract

Freshwater lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus) is a freshwater fishery commodity that has a very promising selling price. The price of live freshwater lobster can be sold up to Rp. 250,000/kg and frozen to death at a price of Rp. 100,000 in Pekanbaru. The export value of lobster commodities in Indonesia grows by an average of 3.54% per year. One way to maintain the life of the lobster during the lobster export process is by means of a dry system of live transportation. Giving natural anesthetics can use green betel leaf extract. The purpose of this study was to determine the storage time of freshwater crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) given natural anesthesia with green betel leaf extract (Piper betle L). This study used a laboratory experimental method with a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) as the treatment was storage time consisting of 4 levels of treatment, namely 6, 12, 18, and 24 hours and repeated 3 times. The test parameters of this study were the length of time awake, survival, and body weight loss of lobster during storage. The best treatment in this study was K2 a storage time of 12 hours getting survival rates of up to 90% and body weight loss during storage of 3%.

Abstract

The development program aims to improve the quality of life of the community. One form of measuring the quality of human resources is the Human Development Index (HDI). This indicator also applies to fishermen communities. HDI is an important indicator to measure and plan the success of developing the quality of life of fishermen communities. This research was conducted from May to August 2021 in Ransang Barat District. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey method. Sampling was carried out by accident methode on 30 fishermen scattered on the coast of Ransang Barat District. The data analysis technique in determining the HDI value is the calculation based on the geometric mean of the health index, knowledge index and expenditure index which refers to the UNDP calculation model. Based on the results of the analysis, the HDI value of the Ransang Barat fishermen community was 57.07. These values can be broken down based on 3 aspects that make up the HDI as follows: Health index 71.67; Education index 66.83; and the Expenditure index of 39.78. The value of the health index is indicated by the child mortality rate which is influenced by public access to health facilities. The low education index is caused by the limited economic and physical access of the community to basic education facilities. The expenditure index value is influenced by low productivity which causes low income and affects the limited ability of the community to access the necessities of life. Based on the AHP analysis, it is found that the fishing community development policies with an HDI perspective are prioritized to increase access to capital and fishery production inputs (priority 1) and the development of alternative livelihoods (priority 2).

Abstract

Fish is a fishery resource that has very important economic value. One of the fishery commodities in Indonesia which is produced and exported in large quantities is bluefin tuna (Thunnus maccoyii). The high protein content causes tuna to be easily damaged if it is not immediately processed and stored at high ambient temperatures and can cause histamine. Histamine is a compound derived from the amino acid histidine which is formed due to the action of bacteria that have decarboxylase enzymes. The formation of histamine is influenced by several factors, including temperature and pH. The purpose of this study was to identify histamine content in raw materials and final products of bluefin tuna (Thunnus maccoyii) loin form. This test uses the ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method with VERATOX media (Veratox Quantitative Histamine Test Neogen). Histamine testing was carried out for approximately 5 days using 2 repetitions for both raw materials and frozen tuna loin products. The histamine content in raw materials and final products of frozen tuna loin does not exceed the SNI 4104:2015 standard, which is 100 ppm. The average histamine test result for raw tuna loin was 0.52 ppm and the average histamine test result for the final product was 0.96 ppm.
