Abstract

Abstract

The need for carp (Cyprinus carpio) from year to year continues to increase with the increase in population. Consumer demand for fish consumption has experienced a shift, from fresh (frozen) fish to live fish. The obstacles often faced by cultivators are death before the fish arrive at their destination, the cause of fish death is due to stress and physical damage due to mishandling. To avoid the high mortality rate of carp during the transportation process, fish entrepreneurs have begun to develop a dry transportation system, namely a system of transporting live fish using non-water transportation media. In the transportation of live fish without water media, the fish are made in a state of calm or stunning. Anesthesia can be done by giving an anesthetic in which the fish becomes unconscious during the transportation process. The advantage of stunning this fish is that it makes it easier to carry out the transportation process without water media, makes the fish not move much during the transportation process and minimizes the risk of fish being injured so as to allow a longer transportation time. One of the natural ingredients that can be used for anesthesia is tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of anesthetic tobacco extract (N. tobacum) on the hematological condition of carp (C. carpio) by dry transportation method. The treatments tested were soaking tobacco extract as fish anesthetic before transportation with different concentrations, namely, in treatment 1 (P1) without soaking tobacco extract, treatment 2 (P2) soaking tobacco extract 1 ml, treatment 3 (P3) soaking tobacco extract 2 ml, treatment (P4), soaking extract 3 ml. The results of this study that the use of tobacco leaf extract as an anesthetic in the dry transportation system causes hematological levels to increase and decrease but are still in normal levels, the best dose of tobacco extract is 1ml/L with a stunning speed of 917 minutes, recovery time is 239 minutes and has an SR value of 76%.

Abstract

Wastewater from vaname shrimp culture with a semi biofloc system, was used for milkfish cultivation without additional feed. Fish seeds are stocked 4000 with 18 days of age. The Milkfish pond is 2000 m2, the water level is 0,7 m. Water quality was observed 2 months cultivation. Water samples were taken everyweeks around 9 am, from March to April 2022. During the research, temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2 and salinity were relatively stable, except for nitrate and phosphate levels. First observation the levels of nitrate were 0,059 mg/l and phosphate was 0,064 mg/l. When the fish were 2,5 months, nitrate levels increased by 425,4% to 0,31 mg/l and phosphate increased by 479,7% to 0,371 mg/l. This increase is thought the addition of residual water from vannamei shrimp cultivation, so that the pond water level becomes 80 cm. Observation of milkfish at the age of 3 months, nitrate levels decreased 42,6% to 0,178 mg/l and phosphate decreased 8,4% to 0,34 mg/l. This decreasing is thought because nitrate and phosphate are used as a source of nutrients for phytoplankton. The milkfish are 3,5 months, the nitrate level decreases by 58,4% to 0,074 mg/l, but the phosphate level increases by 8,24% to 0,368 mg/l. The increase in phosphate is thought to be from the decomposition of fish feces. And the decreasing of nitrate because used as a source of nutrients for phytoplankton. Water quality monitoring must be carried out regularly, to preserve pond water quality.

Abstract

Poecilia sp. is one type of ornamental fish that has distinctive characteristics because molly fish are freshwater ornamental fish that are able to live and breed in saline (brackish water) environments. Induction of molly fish spawning can be done with salinity treatment on the spawning media because the endocrine system in molly fish which plays a role in regulating body balance against changes in environmental conditions, especially changes in salinity will become more active so that it affects metabolism and reproduction (Taufik & Kusrini, 2006). The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in salinity as a spawning stimulant in molly fish. the method used in this study: P1. Salinity 10 ppt, P2. Salinity 15 ppt, P3. salinity 20 ppt, P4. Salinity 25 ppt, P5. 30 ppt with three replications. Parameters observed were Gonad Maturity Level (TKG), Gonad Maturity Index (IKG), survival rate (SR), and gestation period. The reared fish showed good gonad maturity so that spawning occurred. The results of this study, the highest gonadal maturity level was found at P1 salinity 10 ppt and P2 salinity 15 ppt the best, namely TKG V compared to P3, P4, and P5 namely TKG IV. The best gonadal maturity index was treatment P1 which was 14.28±2.0c followed by P2 11.71±2.0bc, P3 10.74±0.76abc P5 8.01±2.34ab and P4 7.27±2, 84a. The fastest gestation period was in P1 and P2, namely 44 days and 23 days. The highest survival rate occurred in P1 and P2, which was 100%. The highest absolute weight average was found in P1 which was 8.01±0.82c P2 6.33±0.5bc. The conclusion of this study, different salinity has a significant effect on the gonadal maturity index and absolute weight of golden black molly fish.
