Abstract

Ornamental fish is a fish that is much favored by the public because it has a beautiful color. The demand for ornamental fish is increasing every year both in the domestic and international markets, based on data from the KKP in 2018 the export value of hyacinth reached USD 32.23 million and in 2020 Indonesia targets to produce 1.8 billion ornamental fish. One of the ornamental fish that is much favored by the public is Betta fish (Betta sp). From an economic point of view, male betta fish cultivation is less profitable because of its poor body color and morphology. Male betta fish are more popular than female fish, because they have advantages in terms of color and morphology. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the highest male sex presentation of betta fish was in treatment P4 with a total of 91.11% followed by treatment P5 with a total of 73.33% treatment P3 78.89% to treatment P2 58.89% male and followed by male sex presentation the lowest was found in treatment P1 with a total of 35.56%.

Abstract

There are still catfish hatcheries found in Tegal District that use brooders derived from the results of rearing spread seeds (jonggolan), not catfish specifically for certified breeders. The use of jonggolan as broodstock is feared to cause a decrease in the quality of catfish fry due to inbreeding or inbreeding. This research is expected to be able to determine the factors that influence the use of certified catfish broodstock so that prevention can be done to avoid losses to catfish farmers and improve the steps that need to be decided in making policies at the relevant agencies. This study uses a descriptive correlational statistical analysis method. The data was taken from all catfish hatcheries in Tegal District with a total of 100 respondents then the data was processed with SPSS 24 year 2022 software. The variables of age, last education, training or socialization about fisheries that have been followed, and the origin of the broodstock used have a significance value greater than 0.05. then there is no significant correlation (relationship) to the parental strain variable used. The Capital Estimation variable has a significance value less than 0.05 (Sig. 0.000). then there is a significant correlation (relationship) to the parental strain variable used. Spearman correlation value of 0.351 indicates that the direction of the correlation is positive with a weak correlation strength.Age factor, last education, training or socialization by the Fisheries Service that has been followed, the origin of the broodstock (government assistance, independent purchase or jonggolan) does not affect the use of certified catfish breeders. Capital owned factors that influence the decision of farmers in using certified catfish broodstock.

Abstract

Abstract

Seaweed is one type of fishery commodity that is widely used both as a raw material for food, industry, medicine, and cosmetics. This causes the economic value of seaweed to help the community's economy and can increase the country's foreign exchange. Seaweed is one of the largest carotenoid producers because green seaweed generally contains chlorophyll a and b compounds and carotene compounds which can function as antioxidants. Factors that affect the content of carotenoids is the spacing of seaweed seeds. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of spacing in the basic stake system on the carotenoid content of Caulerpa lentilifera and to determine the ideal spacing that gives optimal effect on the carotenoid content of Caulerpa lentilifera. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) pattern with 6 treatments and 3 replications with treatments namely Control (25 cm spacing), P1 (20 cm spacing), P2 (30 cm spacing), P3 (20 cm spacing). plant 35 cm), P4 (planting distance 40 cm), P5 (planting distance 45 cm). The data obtained was then analyzed using variance (ANOVA) with a 95% confidence level and to find out the best growth a further test was carried out using the BNT test. The results showed that the spacing applied to the basic stake system had no effect on the carotenoid content of Caulerpa lentilifera, but had an effect on the absolute growth and specific growth rates. Spacing of 30 cm is the best distance for the growth of Caulerpa lentilifera with an absolute growth of 128.917 g and a specific growth rate of 4.965%, but the difference in spacing has no effect on the carotenoid content. The conclusion of this study was that the difference in plant spacing of the basic stake system had no effect on the carotenoid content of C. lentilifera, but had an effect on the absolute growth and specific growth rate. There was no ideal spacing to increase carotenoid content in C. lentilifera, because each treatment tended to have relatively the same carotenoid content.

Abstract

Catfish is one of the commodities with promising prospects for development, both in hatchery and grow-out activities. One of the challenges in catfish farming is the high mortality rate of intensively raised fish without water exchange. In order to increase production, the implementation of good cultivation technologies is necessary to maximize the results. One such technology that can be used is the Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). This study aims to analyze the effects of RAS using lettuce plants as biofilters on the growth and survival of Clarias gariepinus catfish. The test animals used in this study were Clarias gariepinus catfish sourced from Beta Fish Lingsar Farm, with seed size ranging from 7-8 cm. The study was conducted with three treatments (plots): pond 1 = RAS with lettuce biofilter at a stocking density of 1000 individuals, pond 2 = RAS with a stocking density of 1000 individuals, and pond 3 = RAS with a stocking density of 500 individuals. The results of the study showed that the use of the RAS system had an impact on the growth and survival of the fish. The RAS system with lettuce biofilter was able to increase the Specific Growth Rate (SGR) by 6.02% and reduce fish mortality rate with a Survival Rate (SR) value of 62.8%. Based on these findings, the use of RAS with plant biofilters can be further developed on a larger scale in aquaculture.

Abstract

The seagrass ecosystem is an ecosystem that is very important to support the sustainability of the biota that take shelter in it. The seagrass ecosystem is known as one of the areas that is vulnerable to damage. Various human activities, such as fishing and industrial activities can trigger this damage. This study aims to provide information regarding the description and level of degradation of the seagrass meadow ecosystem in Uwedikan Village. The method used is random sampling method. The results showed that there were 5 species of seagrass found, namely Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea Serullata, Cymodocea rotundata and Halophila ovalis. Seagrass cover averaged 40.60% at Tanjung Balean and 33.1% at the Tambatan Perahu. This is included in the moderate/less rich category. The highest seagrass cover was for Thalassia hemprichii with a total of 2,169 individuals at Tanjung Balean and 1,453 at the Boat Mooring. The relationship of water parameters, namely temperature, degree of acidity (pH) and brightness greatly affect the growth of seagrass ecosystems. In particular, the temperature at the two locations obtained different values, namely 29--30.5°C at Tanjung Balean and 30--35.3°C at the Tambatan Perahu.
