Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of hardening and tempering on tensile strength (ASTM E 8) and hardness (Rockwell) applied to medium carbon steel. The heat treatment process hardening is heated by a furnace at a temperature of 900 °C and 920 °C then held for 30 minutes and cooled quickly and then further processed by Tempering with each being tempered at 500 °C and cooled slowly. The results obtained are in the hardening process with a temperature variation of 900 °C, the hardness value increases from the raw material value of 5.7 HRC to 7.52 HRC and has increased again at a temperature of 920 °C of 8.08 HRC. Tempering process temperature variation of 900/ 500 °C the value is above raw material by 5.7 HRC to 7.24 HRC, down at a temperature of 920/500 °C by 6.4 HRC. For tensile testing of the hardening process against utimate stress, the value for raw material is 516,095 MPa, temperature is 900 °C/451,065 MPa and temperature is 920 °C/389,625 MPa. for yield strength raw material value is 477.4165 MPa, temperature is 900°C/270.8395 MPa, temperature is 920°C/256.4555 MPa, for modulus raw material value is 347.53 GPa, temperature is 900°C/3452605 MPa , the temperature is 920 °C/338.206 MPa, for the elongation value the raw material value is 7.871%, the temperature is 900 °C/11.392%, the temperature is 920 °C/16.448 %. for tempering to utimate stress the raw material value is 516,095 MPa, temperature 900/500 °C is 417,5635 MPa and temperature 920/500 °C is 372.416 MPa. For yield strength raw material value is 477.4165 MPa, temperature 900/500°C 304.1745 MPa, temperature 920/500 °C is 269.818 MPa, for modulus raw material value is 347.53 GPa, temperature 900 /500°C is 353.1525 MPa, temperature 920/500 °C is 366.5695 MPa, for the elongation value the raw material value is 7.871%, temperature 900/500 °C is 11.392%, temperature 920/500 ° C is 13.7665%.

Abstract

In general, plastics have low density, are insulating to electricity, have varying mechanical strength, limited temperature resistance, and varying chemical resistance so that they are widely used because of their advantages. Efforts to manage plastic waste practically and effectively to reduce the widespread pollution. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of the use of condenser cooling water on the results of the distillation of plastic waste capacity of 3 Kg. Testing was carried out in two ways: measuring the relationship of the time and heat of the kettle, the relationship of time and heat of the condenser. The results showed that the longer time achieved will be the greater the increase in the temperature of the kettle obtained that is 650C to 720C means a change (720C - 650C = 70C), and the longer time achieved will be less heat obtained ie heat value of 2805.688125 and hour later decreased by 2622.88125. In conclusion, the longer the time reached at the time of energy administration in the kettle and the provision of energy to the condenser, the greater the increase in the temperature of the kettle.

Abstract

Metal is a natural material that is very useful in various aspects of human life, one of which is non-ferrous metal material, the metal does not contain iron elements such as copper, aluminum, tin. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of Magnesium on fatigue and porosity testing, using the casting method of used Aluminum piston motor using an induction furnace with a pouring temperature of 700°C. In the fatigue test, the addition of Magnesium element by 1% gets a cycle value of 5,100, and a variation of 1.5% gets a cycle value of 5,220 and a 2% variation gets a cycle value of 5,420. As for the porosity test, the addition of Magnesium element by 1% gets a porosity value of 9.2% and a variation of 1.5% gets a porosity value of 4.5% and a variation of 2% gets a porosity value of 3.5%.

Abstract

Laser technology is now so rapidly and is used in almost all fields, such as in manufacturing, medical, arts, trade transactions and printing. Although there are various types of lasers on the market, the C02 laser is the most common in manufacturing. This is due to its relatively large power so that its use is more flexible and can be used for cutting thin sheet materials as well as rather thick materials. Laser cutting has various advantages over other manufacturing technologies because it can receive data directly from the computer, so that cutting automation can run in the industrial world. The use of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines in laser cutting systems is very necessary, because we can cut a material with the design shape we want and with good cutting quality. The method used is experimental by designing and manufacturing and testing a CO2 laser cutting CNC machine. Testing is done by finding the best feedrate and knowing the level of accuracy of the cutting results on different types of cutting grooves. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the best feedrate is 50 mm/min, and also the level of accuracy with different groove cutting shapes affects the level of cutting accuracy, the lowest accuracy coefficient is 0.73 mm.

Abstract

The depletion of fossil energy in the world is getting attention, this is due to the increasing number of human resources in the world. So that efforts can be made, one of which is finding alternative fuels, namely biogas made from cow dung and tapioca liquid waste, this study aims to determine the variation of the filling mixture on the volume of biogas produced, to know the variation of the filling mixture on the biogas flame and to determine the effect of the mixture variation. charge to the amount of flow rate produced. The research method used is bulk filling with cow dung and tapioca liquid waste using a mixed variation of 0%:100%, 10%:90, 20%: 80%, 30%: 70%, 40%: 60%, 50 % : 50%. So that the value of the volume of gas produced is proportional to the productivity of biogas. To find out the volume of biogas in the digester using a manometer U. In the study, the results obtained were the value of the filling mixture variation in biogas productivity for the highest value at the mixed variation of 50%: 50% with a value of 2.061 liter/kg. The highest blue RGB flame was obtained at a mixed variation of 70% : 30% with a value of 66.14 and a red RGB flame value was obtained at a mixed variation of 50% : 50% with a value of 42.14.

Abstract

The use of synthetic refrigerant R22 has been banned by the government which can cause damage to the ozone layer causing global warming effects. temperature (ΔT°C) of the evaporator during the test time at the time of the study. The method used in this research is to vary the refrigerant R 22 and Musicool 22 with a pressure variation of 60,70,80 Psi, the size of the room studied is 3x4x2,5 m and Split AC Changhong, LG, and Panasonic with 1 PK power. Research results it can be seen that each brand of Split AC has a different effect of electricity consumption, the lowest and highest electricity consumption at a pressure of 60 and 80 Psi. Musicool 22 refrigerant is more energy efficient than R22. It can be seen that each brand of Split AC has the effect of the temperature difference (ΔT°C) of the evaporator, which differs the highest at a pressure of 60 and 80 Psi. Musicool 22 refrigerant is more suitable for LG and Changhong brands.
