Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of arabization  as a communication strategy in the speeches of Abu Ubaidah, the spokesman of the Al-Qassam Brigades, by highlighting the relevance of arabized terms in reinforcing political messages to the Palestinian audience. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research applies Dan Sperber and Deirdre Wilson’s Relevance Theory along with lexicological and phonological approaches. The primary data were obtained from transcripts of Abu Ubaidah’s speeches sourced from the YouTube channels of AlJazeera Arabic and Al Arabiya, which were analyzed to identify arabized terms and their lexical and phonological adaptation processes. The findings reveal that terms such as “التكتيك” (tactic), “الإستراتيجية” (strategy), and “السيناريو” (scenario) were strategically chosen to enhance the relevance of the message, strengthen emotional and political resonance with the audience, and convey modern and professional connotations compared to classical arabic equivalents. Phonological adaptations further ensure that these terms are linguistically and culturally accepted. Overall, the study confirms that arabization not only strengthens political messaging but also creates strong contextual effects aligned with communicative goals, contributing significantly to the study of pragmatics, lexicology, phonology, and political communication strategies.

Abstract

Human thought continues to evolve over time, undergoing various changes. This is inseparable from the human desire to always adapt and change as the problems and needs faced increase. The emergence of Postmodernism was triggered by the existence of modernism. Modernism gives the impression of progress, luxury, and rapid progress. Modernism promises to create change towards a more stable world, where all human needs can be met. Rationality was seen as a tool to overcome myths and traditional beliefs that were considered unfounded, which had been considered to make humans weak in facing the realities of the world. Feminist criticism offers a proposal to study literature as a manifestation of the forms of power in society that we inherit, which must be changed if change is desired. This research uses a qualitative or naturalistic inquiry approach.  In naturalistic inquiry, researchers are not required to form certain conceptions or theories in advance related to the field under study. Instead, researchers can approach the field of research with an open mind and let their opinions emerge and be motivated by the facts that occur naturally in the field. Feminist literary criticism plays a very important role in analyzing Arabic literary works in the postmodern era. This is due to the fact that many contemporary Arabic literary works still tend to portray women in sexist ways, based on rigid stereotypes, marginalized from central roles, and do not even treat them as full human beings. When associated with gender issues, this approach will reveal patterns of gender relations that are not only hierarchical, but also offer other meanings that are more plural, humanist and egalitarian. The feminist figures of Arab such as Qasim Amin, Nāwal As-Sa'dāwī and Fatima Mernissi became symbols of resistance from Arab lands.

Abstract

The word caliph is a word that is quite popular among the Islamic community in general and Indonesian society in particular. Along with its development, with the existence of Islamic movements such as HTI, MMI, and FPI which are oriented towards the establishment of an Islamic state and the enforcement of Islamic law, the word caliph has experienced a shift in meaning in Indonesian society. The focus of this research is to reveal the shift in the meaning of the word caliph in Indonesian society in terms of social historical factors. The research data is in the form of books and journals relevant to the research collected through reading and recording techniques, then analyzing it and explaining the conclusions obtained. The result of this research is that the word khalifah, which basically means ‘behind’ or ‘substitute’, has shifted to become ‘the leader of the Islamic state’, ‘the leader who enforces Islamic law’, and ‘the leader who protects the religion of Islam and the leader who calls the people away from evil things’.

Abstract

This study explores the clause structure in Arabic and Mongondow languages through a contrastive linguistic approach. Although originating from different linguistic families Arabic from the Semitic family and Mongondow from the Austronesian family both languages exhibit comparable syntactic patterns worth examining. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with contrastive and content analysis techniques. Data were gathered from literature reviews and documentation of native speakers' utterances. The samples include various types of clauses: independent, dependent, verbal, nominal, adjectival, adverbial, and prepositional. The findings reveal fundamental similarities in clause structure between the two languages, particularly in the use of subject (S), predicate (P), and object (O). However, syntactic differences are identified, such as the use of ḥarf al-jarr (prepositions) in Arabic and the local preposition kon in Mongondow. Reflexive, reciprocal, and nominal clauses also display relatively consistent patterns across both languages. This study contributes to the development of comparative syntax and the preservation of regional languages. Furthermore, the findings offer practical insights for curriculum design, particularly in language education that integrates contrastive grammatical structures to enhance students’ understanding of interlingual differences in a systematic and contextual manner.

Abstract

Al-Qur’an is recognized not only as a sacred scripture containing religious teachings but also as a literary masterpiece rich in linguistic beauty and artistic imagery. Its captivating style brings vivid and meaningful visual images to life, allowing divine messages to be conveyed in a deeper and more thought-provoking manner to its readers. This study aims to analyze the use of literary imagery elements in Surah Al-Qalam and their role in effectively and aesthetically delivering religious messages. Employing a qualitative approach, the study uses descriptive analysis of the verses of Surah Al-Qalam through the lens of classical Arabic stylistics, focusing particularly on tasybīh (simile), isti‘ārah (metaphor), tashkhīṣ (personification), kināyah (irony), and majāz (metonymy). The findings reveal that these five imagery elements are harmoniously applied to express complex meanings in a visual, imaginative, and communicative manner. Tashkhīṣ animates abstract concepts; tasybīh and isti‘ārah enhance the visual representation of teachings; while kināyah and majāz deepen symbolic meaning and strengthen the rhetorical impact of the verses. The study concludes that the use of imagery in Surah Al-Qalam is not mere literary decoration but serves as a crucial instrument in clarifying and reinforcing the divine message.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the state of the Arabic environment and provide solutions to problems in the formation of the environment for suggestions in language acquisition. From a theoretical point of view, it can be used as a source of knowledge about language acquisition and environment formation. This research follows a qualitative approach and descriptive research type.  The results of this research show that the Oshian Arabic language course and the Islamic courses center have similarities and differences in Arabic language teaching. Both use the environment as a tool in the Arabic teaching process. The difference between them lies in the learning methods and strategies used in the classroom. The Oshian course focuses more on language skills, while the Islamic Courses Center focuses on understanding grammar. There are many extracurricular activities in the language environment of the Oshian course and the Islamic Courses Center.
