Abstract

Puhsarang Village is one of the religious tourism destinations in Kediri District that has the uniqueness of inculturation (adaption of church values and culture) as well as a place for meditative encounters of religious people throughout the region. The pandemic has hit the existing tourism sector and resulted in a decrease in small business income around tourist attractions. Some of the businesses affected include souvenir shops, wood sculpture, food stalls, and ‘bumbu kacang’ peanut paste production. In an effort to support Puhsarang's economic potential, the community service team carried out two main activities, namely product improvement assistance and designing social media utilization and marketplace management for local businesses. Secondly, promoting the art of karawitan as a unique characteristic of the Puhsarang tourism village. The empowerment method is carried out collaboratively with the PALAR approach, starting from the process of discussing business problems to the stage of reflecting on the business going forward. The assistance provided by the CED Team is expected to be a forum to support Community Cultural Tourism through the participation of local communities in exploring the potential of religious tourism and cultural inculturation that characterizes Puhsarang and ultimately can foster economic stretching around the village of Puhsarang.

Abstract

Zanzibar, A semi-autonomous nation of Tanzania has had a turbulent political conflict that resulted in a significant loss of life, injuries, and civic unrest. The birth of contestation of the conflict is the electoral process associated with political identity on the Island. 2010, Zanzibar adopted a power-sharing system through a referendum and subsequent constitutional amendment. The aim was to make power-sharing representable to the citizens and deeply rooted in society. Over a decade has passed, and it employs a mixed-method approach that combines quantitative and qualitative methods. Two hundred eighty-seven (287) respondents participated in the survey, and 28 individuals engaged in interviews. The findings indicate that the citizens are satisfied with some aspects of power-sharing. They are satisfied with power-sharing in promoting unity and neutralizing identity politics. Evidence of this is reflected in citizens' cooperation and equitable treatment among different ethnicities and affiliations. However, a critical concern emerges in peace-building, particularly in managing electoral violence. The citizens argued that the electoral institutions are not well managed. This emphasizes having an impartial electoral system that is fair, transparent, and honest to make citizens trust the electoral process in Zanzibar.

Abstract

The study aims to explore the relationship between socioeconomic inequalities and life expectancy in newly established provinces, specifically in Highland Papua. The initial hypothesis posits that socioeconomic inequalities, such as the Gini index and poverty rates, significantly impact public health. The analysis method employs the Pearson correlation test to examine the relationship between these variables. The results indicate no significant relationship between socioeconomic disparities and life expectancy at the specified level of significance. These findings underscore the complexity of factors influencing health, including access to health services, environmental conditions, and individual health practices. The implications of this discovery highlight the importance of a holistic approach to health policy design, focusing on public empowerment, intensive health education, cross-sectoral collaboration, and thorough policy evaluation. By integrating this approach, it is expected that overall public health will improve and existing health disparities will be reduced.
