Abstract

The focus of the post-pandemic government is to pay attention to the process of economic revival and development that still pays attention to environmental impacts in order to be able to build self-resilience with natural phenomena experienced by many countries, including Indonesia. Efforts to build resilience using the basis of Islamic philanthropy through zakat, infaq, shadaqah and waqf instruments by paying attention to the sustainability of the green economy are one way out in order to realize economic sustainability. Abstract

Indonesia's current entrepreneurship ratio is relatively low compared to other countries, indicating the need for initiatives to encourage entrepreneurial skills among the youth. This research aims to address the need for increased entrepreneurship in Indonesia, particularly among high school students in the Malang Raya region. The implementation of the community service project has successfully provided valuable entrepreneurship training to high school and vocational students, equipping them with essential knowledge and practical applications of entrepreneurship. The comprehensive training material has ignited enthusiasm and cultivated a strong interest among the participants to engage in entrepreneurial activities. By promoting an entrepreneurial mindset and imparting business strategies, including the Business Model Canvas, the training has accelerated students' understanding and education. Future research should explore different pedagogical approaches in entrepreneurship training, conduct longitudinal studies to track students' progress, and address specific challenges faced by high school and vocational students in starting and running their own businesses. By considering these research directions, entrepreneurship education can be further enhanced, leading to more effective training programs and support for young aspiring entrepreneurs in Malang Raya.

Abstract

Long-term planning in all regions in Indonesia in 2025 provides a powerful opportunity to commit governments to community empowerment, an opportunity dependent on the intention of those who are elected to power in the 2024 elections, and their commitment to stress sustainable economic development in those long-term plans, and the regulations to implement the plan. As the culture of reglomania (gila peraturan) is a key inhibiter of empowerment there is a need to change that culture to one that empowers and directs development of the green economy. This paper identifies problems with legislation, including a failure to identify the public service of creating an ordered environment for community development, including regulations for economic linkages and collaboration while providing for diversity. This leads to a reconsideration of the role of provinces, further consideration of accessibility and management of land, and integrity in government. The paper concludes with changes needed in campaigning in 2024 in order to lay the foundation for medium-term and long-term plans for building community empowerment after the elections, and provides a set of recommendations.

Abstract

Community service, one of the main tasks according to Tridharma, was carried out to optimize e-learning in the learning process for lecturers and students of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), University of Palangka Raya (UPR). The issue being discussed was e-learning not being optimally used in FEB due to lecturers’ and students’ perceptions that e-learning was not a user-friendly platform. Hence to solve this problem, several implementation methods were being used, which were online and offline coaching clinics on the use of e-learning for lecturers, e-learning workshops for students, preparation of effective guidance modules, and creation of e-learning Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The result after implementing the community service activities showed that the perceptions about e-learning were resolved after attending the community service activities which resulted in the growth of users from the lecturers and students.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of training and socialization on village fund management in Tablasupa Village, Jayapura Regency, and its impact on participants' understanding of village fund management concepts and regulations. The uniqueness of Tablasupa Village as a case study lies in its rural setting and distinct socio-economic characteristics. By focusing on Tablasupa Village, this research presents a localized perspective on village fund management, emphasizing the need for tailored approaches that consider the specific needs and dynamics of rural areas. Prior to the training, participants had limited knowledge regarding key areas such as the definition of RPJMK (Regional Medium-Term Development Plan), the Village Law, types of village income, reporting of activity/program results, and accountability. However, after the training and discussions, participants showed significant improvement in their ability to answer questions correctly, indicating the effectiveness of the training. The study suggests that the training has practical implications in enhancing participants' understanding of financial management practices and empowering rural communities. However, it is important to consider the limitations of the study, such as its narrow focus on Tablasupa Village and the constraints of time and resources. Therefore, future research should encompass a larger sample size and explore multiple locations to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of village fund management in a broader context.

Abstract

Village Law in Indonesia explicitly mandates village governments to fundamentally promote public participation and empowerment. This study aims to evaluate Village Fund Program from the perspective of community-led development. Based on Arnstein's ladder of participation and in-depth interview method, this research found out that village community participation in the government and development system was at the level of tokenism. Village governments do provide an opportunity for the public to participate in the development planning forum, but public aspirations were not guaranteed to be converted into concrete policies. In terms of community empowerment, village governments merely implemented one of the five main principles of community-led development.

Abstract

Limited marketing hinders cooperatives' ability to attract and retain members, particularly younger generations like Generation Z. This study investigates the financial preferences of Gen Z students within the cooperative context, focusing on their preferred savings products. Using a conjoint analysis of 664 participants from three Davao City universities, this paper reveals insights into this demographic's financial decision-making processes. The data shows the paramount importance of promotion in influencing Gen Z's financial choices. Efficient social media campaigns emphasizing a positive and engaging cooperative identity significantly resonate with these young adults. While convenience, like proximity to public areas, is valued, it holds less weight compared to competitive interest rates and impactful promotional strategies. These findings offer actionable recommendations for cooperatives aiming to engage Gen Z. Aligning marketing strategies with their preferred channels and messages, tailoring product offerings to prioritize competitive rates and engaging social media presence, and fostering community engagement through educational partnerships are crucial steps toward success. The implications extend beyond Davao City, providing a framework for cooperatives in developing countries to effectively engage young adults. By understanding Gen Z's unique financial preferences and leveraging this knowledge to develop targeted marketing and product offerings, cooperatives can contribute to financial inclusion and position themselves as vital partners in building a financially empowered future for this generation. This study's multi-theoretical framework paves the way for future research and initiatives aimed at promoting financial literacy and community engagement programs tailored to resonate with Gen Z.

Abstract

This paper outlines the alternative livelihood practices used by artisanal fishers for household improvement in five Zanzibar Islands fishing villages: Kizimkazi Dimbani, Chwaka, Unguja Ukuu Kaepwani, Tumbe Mashariki, and Michenzani. The cross-sectional research design was used to collect quantitative data via a questionnaire survey and qualitative data via Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and key informant interviews. Data were collected from a sample of 333 artisanal fishers drawn from the 1991 population using the Yamane formula. According to the findings of the study, approximately half of the artisanal fishers (53.45%) did not engage in any alternative livelihood practice to support the livelihood of their households and instead relied solely on artisanal fisheries. (23.12%) of the artisanal fishers were farmers, (9.91%) were seaweed farmers, and (5.41% were animal keepers. A small percentage of artisanal fishers (8.11%) engage in petty trade, tourism, and dagaa processing for sale. It is therefore recommended that the respective government, in collaboration with other fisheries stakeholders, establish the sustainability of alternative livelihood opportunities for artisanal fisher communities in order to improve their household livelihoods by diversifying their household survival and reducing the challenge of overexploitation of fishery resources.
