Abstract

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study, therefore, is to compare the developed JHS visual art curricula of the two universities (UCC and UEW) as being implemented in the colleges of education, vis-a-vis the new JHS Creative Arts and Design curriculum to find out which of the curricula covers all aspects of Creative Arts and Design in JHS. Methodology: The study adopted a qualitative research approach using document analysis and autoethnography as data collection instruments. Main Findings: The study found that whereas UCC offers a combined major of visual art, UEW offers visual art as a standalone programme but both models of visual art education do not meet the full complement of the Creative Arts and Design subject in the JHS because the performing art aspect is not catered for in both models. Novelty/Originality of this study: The study recommends that both curricula should be reviewed to factor in the performing art aspect of the JHS Creative Arts and Design subject to enable them to train teachers who are fit for purpose.

Methodology: This research uses descriptive analysis The research was held at Malang 6 Vocational High School with a population of class XII DPIB totaling 64 people and samples were taken from the entire population. Data collection using questionnaire distribution. This instrument adopts previous research with validity and reliability values that have fulfilled the criteria. Main Findings: The results of descriptive analysis of time management get an average score of 29.02 or if the percentage is equal to 72.55% and has a meaning in the level of variable development, which is at a fairly high level. The effect of time management has an r square of 4.6%, although the variable is weak against the variables of motivation and learning achievement of vocational students but still has a positive effect. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study is to determine if time management has an effect on increasing the motivation and achievement of vocational students. The impact of this research is as a reference for future researchers to conduct research further. Then this research has an impact on schools and related agencies regarding time management arrangements in schools.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: Understanding implicatures in TOEFL Short Dialogues is difficult. It is essential to develop web-based media to boost implicature understanding. This current study aimed at testing the implicature inference-making ability of English teachers, identifying the factors that affect listening difficulties and developing web-mediated audio-visual books for the TOEFL. Methodology: This is a three-phase R & D model: 1) ‘Research Phase’ (Testing the English teachers listening ability; Examining factors affecting implicatures understanding; and Profiling the English teachers listening abilities); 2) ‘Development Phase’ (Constructing the test instrument; Formulating Learning Objectives; Selecting Audio-visual materials, Designing the web-mediated audio-visual book; Validating and revising the book) and ‘Production Phase’ (Dissemination and Mass Production). Main Finding: The products of the ‘Research phase’: 1) Listening ability, 2) Factors affecting listening, 3) Profile of the English teachers’ pragmatic ability. There are five primary causes of difficulty, ‘Speech Rate Delivery,’ ‘Voice,’ ‘Sentence Complexity,’ ‘Mishearing,’ and ‘Colloquial.’ The product of the ‘Development Phase’ is a ‘Web-based audiovisual book for the TOEFL Short Dialogues.’ All lessons are aided with online links to audio and videos. Finally, the product of ‘Production Phase’ is a massed published book. Novelty/Originality of the Study: No single study has ever been reported that focused on developing a web-mediated audio-visual listening book to boost the understanding of implicatures in the TOEFL Short Dialogues.

Abstract

Research objective: Research on the analysis of the application of the group investigation learning model on chemical elements and its influence on students' critical thinking abilities, which aims to see the effect of implementing this model on students' critical thinking abilities in eastern European countries. Methodology: This research is a descriptive correlational research with a concurrent embedded mix method design . The sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique with expert consideration. Data analysis was carried out to see the effect of implementing the GI model on students' critical thinking abilities using the Bivariate Pearson test and significance testing using the t test. Main findings: the results of the correlation test between the implementation of the GI model by students and students' critical thinking abilities were obtained r xy = 0.710. The results of the normality and homogeneity tests show normal and homogeneous data. The results of the significance test obtained t = 5.878 and t table = 2.032 with dk = 34 and α = 0.05. The results of the research prove that the implementation of the group investigation learning model is going well and there is an influence between the implementation of the group investigation learning model and students' critical thinking skills in chemical elements in eastern European countries. Recent research: This research strengthens the significant influence of the GI model on students' critical thinking abilities , especially in chemistry lessons.

Understanding the literacy level in this age group is crucial for identifying areas requiring improvement and enhancing their skills. This study provides insights for educational enhancements. Methodology: The research utilized a quantitative descriptive research design involving 85 fourth-grade students as participants. Data collection methods included interviews, observations, and tests. The interactive data analysis model was applied, consisting of three essential stages: data reduction, data presentation, and concluding (verification). Main Findings: The findings from this study highlight a prevailing issue concerning the reading and writing literacy skills of students, indicating that the majority of students, over 55%, are categorized as having "Low" literacy skills, while 22.35% fall into the "Moderate" category. This concerning situation can impede the holistic development of students' abilities, necessitating prompt and effective intervention. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study is unique for its focus on evaluating the reading and writing literacy skills of fourth-grade students at Elementary School 2 Merauke. It provides valuable insights into literacy education challenges and opportunities within this context. Using an interactive data analysis model, the research comprehensively assesses the factors affecting students' literacy skills. The findings highlight the importance of addressing print awareness and vocabulary, fundamental aspects of early literacy development, and the need to enhance teaching methods, including practical media usage and using the immediate environment for improved learning.
