Abstract

The implementation of technology-based learning is a crucial need to meet the demands of 21st-century skills, especially for elementary school-aged children who are required to have digital literacy, communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills. As the educational paradigm shifts in the digital era, innovative learning models are needed to address the challenges of the times and optimize students' potential. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of implementing technology-based learning and analyze its contribution to developing 21st-century skills. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis related to the learning implementation. The results show that the implementation of technology-based learning in the school was able to improve students' digital literacy skills, teamwork, and critical thinking abilities. Teachers acted as facilitators who encouraged exploration, while students demonstrated increased learning motivation and active participation. This implementation also fostered independent learning habits and productive use of technology. The implications of this study emphasize that technology integration not only enriches learning strategies but also serves as an important foundation in shaping a generation that is adaptive, creative, and ready to face global challenges.

Abstract

This study is driven by the concern over students' low level of discipline, as evidenced by a lack of compliance with school rules and a weak awareness of responsibilities. One way to improve discipline is to implement habits of smiling, greeting, greeting, being polite, and being courteous in everyday life in the school environment. This study aims to determine the effect of this cultural habit on students' disciplinary attitudes. The method used is a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to ninth-grade students selected using a simple random sampling technique. The obtained data were then analyzed using descriptive analysis, assumption testing, and simple linear regression analysis to determine the relationship between variables. The results show that the habit of smiling, greeting, greeting, being polite, and being courteous has a positive and significant influence on students' disciplinary attitudes. The level of relationship between the two variables is in the very strong category, and the high contribution of influence indicates that this habit plays a significant role in shaping disciplinary behavior. Thus, it can be concluded that the consistent implementation of a positive culture in the school environment can increase students' awareness and compliance with applicable rules

Abstract

Social Science (IPS) learning in junior high schools is expected to promote not only content mastery but also deep and contextual understanding. However, in practice, learning remains largely teacher-centered, resulting in limited student engagement. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a deep learning approach in Social Science subjects in junior high schools in Kayen District, Pati Regency. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, involving Social Science teachers from three schools as research subjects. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that deep learning has been implemented through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages, but it is not yet optimal. During implementation, contextual learning activities have improved student engagement, although they have not fully promoted higher-order thinking skills. Evaluation practices remain focused on learning outcomes and have not effectively measured critical thinking and knowledge transfer. Therefore, improvements are needed in instructional design, teaching strategies, and assessment instruments that support higher-order thinking skills development.

Abstract

This study examines the socio-cultural adaptation of Toba Batak ethnic students at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) within a multicultural campus environment. The research aims to analyze the socio-cultural characteristics of Toba Batak students, identify the challenges encountered in social interactions, and explore the adaptation strategies they employ in daily campus life. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to understand the subjective experiences of students in facing cultural differences. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving Toba Batak students and students from other ethnic backgrounds at UNNES. The analysis applies George Herbert Mead’s Symbolic Interactionism theory to understand how identity and meaning are formed through social interaction. The findings indicate that Toba Batak students maintain strong socio-cultural identities reflected through clan affiliation, communication style, and cultural values brought from their home environment. In the multicultural setting of UNNES, they experience several challenges, including difficulties in understanding the Javanese language, communication misunderstandings caused by differences in speaking styles, and differences in culinary habits. To overcome these challenges, students actively develop adaptation strategies such as learning local language expressions, adjusting communication styles to suit the surrounding culture, and adapting eating habits by seeking alternative foods or cooking independently. The study demonstrates that socio-cultural adaptation is a dynamic process that allows students to maintain their cultural identity while simultaneously adjusting to a diverse social environment. This research contributes to the development of sociological and anthropological studies concerning cultural adaptation among ethnic minority students in higher education.
