Abstract

Data mining is the process of sorting through large data sets to identify patterns and establish relationships to solve problems through data analysis. Data mining holds great potential for the healthcare industry to enable health systems to systematically use data and analytics to identify inefficiencies and best practices that improve care and reduce costs. Data mining techniques consist of detection of Anomaly, learning the Association rules, Classification, Clustering, Regression, Time series analysis, and Summarization. In data mining, classification techniques are much popular in medical diagnosis and predicting diseases. Classification techniques are used to predict various diseases such as heart disease, lung cancer, breast cancer, liver diseases, and kidney diseases. The main objective of this work is to predict abdomen diseases like kidney and liver diseases. The work aims to predict liver diseases such as Cirrhosis, Bile Duct, Chronic Hepatitis, Liver Cancer, and Acute Hepatitis using Classification algorithms. The work also aims to predict kidney diseases such as Acute Nephritic Syndrome, Chronic Kidney disease, Acute Renal Failure, and Chronic Glomerulonephritis using Classification algorithms.  This work proposes a novel hybrid classification algorithm called WRFSVM (Weighted Random Forest Support Vector Machine) for the prediction of liver diseases and kidney diseases.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze, evaluate, and compare the results of the feasibility analysis of producing egg shells/banana peels brake pads and commercial asbestos brake pads based on engineering and economic perspectives. Mass balance and several economic parameters (i.e., gross profit margin (GPM), payback period (PBP), break-even point (BEP), cumulative net present value (CNPV), and profitability index (PI)) are calculated to analyze the feasibility projects based on engineering and economic perspectives, respectively. The process of analyzing the economic feasibility of the project is assumed to be in ideal conditions. The engineering perspective shows that the project of banana peels/egg shells brake pads and commercial asbestos brake pads are prospective if the fabrication uses simple apparatus on a large scale. Economic evaluations such as GPM, PBP, BEP, CNPV, and PI all returned positive results, indicating that the project has the potential for large-scale production. It is hoped that the research could well demonstrate the project's importance for future development and serve as a model for future production of brake pads made from agricultural waste.

Abstract

Data collection was gathered from PubMed, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and Crossref in Harzing”s Publish or Perish software. The keyword used in this study was "Flooding Stress" with the publication year of the 1962-2021 articles. Results showed that PubMed retrieves more relevant manuscripts from journal sources than other databases. The search method by whole years was the most effective and efficient if the total manuscripts are less than 1000. Flooding stress-related manuscripts were published continuously from 1994 to 2021 with Annals of Botany as the most productive journal. A combination of “Flooding Stress” with related keywords, e.g., submergence stress, anaerobic stress, and oxidative stress, improves the relevancy of the manuscript results. VOSviewer keyword analysis found that there were 5 clusters discussing oxidative stress, tolerant mechanism, physiological mechanism, flood occurrence, and molecular mechanism. Based on the density visualizations, the anaerobic metabolism, mRNA expression level, SOD, fv/fm, leaf gas exchange, ABA biosynthesis, and halophyte lead to potential topics of flooding stress research to be studied in the future.

Abstract

Air quality is an important issue worldwide due to the health implications on man and livestock. For this reason, different countries constructed the air quality index (AQI) which depicts pollution levels and the impact on health. PAQI is an example of an air quality index built by Plume Labs, Paris, France. It has seven levels (Low, Moderate, High, Very High, Excessive, Extreme, and Airpocalypse) of pollution which are linked to the World Health Organization (WHO) limits. This study aimed to assess the AQI of five different towns in Nigeria using the satellite model data released by Plumes Labs. Daily data of the towns were recorded between 9 am and 7 pm for 60 days and statistically analyzed. The air quality index was determined by whatever pollutant was measuring the highest. It was observed that PM2.5 and 03 (30 and 40 respectively) had the highest concentration levels most times. The results were compared with the PAQI indicator. The air quality of the towns has reached high levels of pollution above the maximum limit for 24 hours established by WHO.

Abstract

Breast cancer is the leading cause of mortality globally. Several attempts have been made to use data mining methodology together with machine learning techniques to develop systems that can detect or prevent breast cancer. In line with the reviewed paper; large datasets for illness analysis have been developed. In this study, the results of selected Machine Learning algorithms are compared: Decision Table, J48, SGD, bagging, and Naïve Bayes Updateable on Wisconsin Breast Cancer Original dataset was conducted using weka tools. Exploratory data analysis, pre-processed with supervised attribute selection and class order, was used to identify potential features to aid the performance of the chosen algorithms in classification. The empirical result showed that Decision Table explores greater likelihood (74% correctly classified instances, True Positive Rate of 0.752, False Positive Rate of 0.478, Precision of 0.77, receiver operating characteristic Area of 0.682) in terms of accuracy and efficiency compared with others. This study's comparison technique is thought to aid breast cancer detection.

Abstract

A power transformer used to transfer electrical energy in any part of the electrical or electronic circuit between the generator and distribution primary circuits. The aims of this study was to developed a mathematical model for determining the End-of-life of power transformers. The paper employed the use of 2-Furaldehyde (2FAL) content values of 0.5 ppm to 10ppm and Arrhenius Parameters in determining the Degree of Polymerization (DP) of the transformer using Jacobi and Gauss-Seidel numerical analysis iterative techniques. The techniques were implemented in a MATLAB environment. The End-of-life of the transformer was determined by adding the service age at any point in time to the remaining lifetime at that point. The developed mathematical model yielded a DP range of 247 ≤ DP ≤ 1184 with a lifespan of 273678 hours for a virgin transformer, based on a constant hotspot temperature of 1100C. The developed model gave a better approach to determining the end-of-life of power transformers based on the parameters of insulation level and the temperature of the system. Therefore, by effective control of the condition of operation, it would be possible to estimate the useful lifetime of a power transformer at any time.

Abstract

Paranitrophenol (PNP) is one of the toxic chemicals, non-degradable, and bioaccumulative. In the present work, the nonlinear analysis method was used to assess the kinetics and equilibrium for PNP adsorption on commercially available Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) from an aqueous solution. The adsorption kinetic data were analyzed using the Pseudo First Order (PFO), Pseudo Second Order (PSO), and Elovich models. The experimental data were fitted using two-parameter isotherms model (Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin) and three parameters isotherms model (Sips, Redlich – Peterson and Toth). For the kinetic study, the adsorption process fitted the PSO model. Among two-parameter models, the Freundlich is better described for PNP adsorption on PAC. From three-parameter isotherms, the Sips model was found to be the best representative for PNP adsorption on the PAC. The results of the present study showed the efficiency of using PAC as an adsorbent for the removal of PNP from an aqueous solution.
