This researchused descriptive qualitative research. The data of this research were script, character and film onParasite film (2019) as the source of data. This research focuses on personality trait of Kim KiTaek's character based on theory of McCrae and Costa (1990), social inequality problemsexperienced by Kim Ki Taek's character based on Abad Badruzaman (2009: 284) and moralvalues in film “parasite” based on Wantah (2006). The results of this research were (1)personality traits of Kim Ki Taek character were oppeners and neuroticism but is low inagreeableness, (2) Social inequality of Kim Ki Taek character were social inequality – economy,(3) Moral values of “Parasite” film were Moral Ethics and Decency.Keywords: Personality Traits, Social Inequality, Poverty, Moral.

Abstract

Acquisition of Kosa Kata Bahasa Karo of a Four Year Karonese ChildEndamya Bevi Nesra Barus, Elia Masa GintingsUniversitas Negeri MedanAbstractThis study analyzed the acquisition of kosa kata Bahasa Karo of a fouryear old Karonese Child. The instrument of collecting data is by voice recordingof child in his daily activity. Particular attention is seeing aspects that affectchild’s acquisition as defined by using theory of Skinner, Behaviorist Theory. Theresult show that the child acquired 5 words of noun, 3 words of verb, 5 words ofadjective, 2 words of adverb, 2 words of pronoun, 1 word of preposition, 1 wordof conjunction, and 6 words of interjection. There are 2 aspects that affect child’sacquisition namely social interaction with his environment and imitation frompeople around him.Keywords: Child’s Acquisition Word, Skinner Theory, Karonese Child.

Registration Number: 2163321043. Developing English SpeakingWorksheets of Descriptive Text Based on Scientific Approach for Students ofMarketing Program at SMK Negeri 1 Medan. English Educational Program,Medan State University, 2021.The aim of this study was to develop English speaking worksheet of descriptive textbased on scientific approach for students of marketing program. This study wasconducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design through six stages;gathering information and data, analyzing data, designing materials, validating byexperts, revising, and final product. The subject of the study was grade X students ofSMK Negeri 1 Medan. The data were gathered by interviewing the English teacher,observing handbook, syllabus and the teaching and learning process and distributingquestionnaires to 33 respondents to get the students’ needs. The results of gathering thedata prove that the student needs English speaking worksheet which can motivate andencourage the students to speak actively in English. The result of the product was amarketing speaking worksheet based on six stages in scientific approach. The score ofvalidation from the validator was 95,3% and it was categorized as very good or relevant.Keywords:Worksheet, Speaking, Scientific Approach, English for Specific Purposes,Research and Development (R&D)

Medan Kota, Kota Medan, Sumatera Utara, 20216, IndonesiaEmail: anggiridhohabibi@gmail.com, zuindraidris@gmail.comAbstractThis research focused on the grammatical errors found in the undergraduate thesis abstracts ofIndustrial Engineering Department Students of Universitas Sumatera Utara. There are three problemsand objectives formulated in this study that focused on finding out the types, process of analyzing, andthe most dominant type of grammatical error occurred in the thesis abstract. This research is adescriptive qualitative study that examined the thesis abstracts using the steps of error analysisproposed by Ellis and Barkhuizen (2005). The grammatical errors are classified into the 4 types ofgrammatical errors proposed by Dulay, Burt, and Krashen (1982), which are addition, omission,misformation, and misordering. The results showed that there were 143 errors found from the 24 thesisabstracts that being sampled. Omission is the most dominant type of grammatical error with 67 errors(47%), followed by misformation with 35 errors (25%), addition with 29 errors (20%), and misorderingwith 12 errors (8%).Keywords: grammar, types, error, error analysis, abstract

Developing English Digital Conversation Media for Speaking Activities Based on Task Based Learning. A Thesis. English Educational Program, State University of Medan, 2020. This research was aimed to develop English digital conversation media for speaking activities based on the students’ need at SMAN 1 Kec. Binjai Kab.Langkat. This research was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) method. There were seven steps applied in this research, the steps were: 1). Potential and Problem 2). Gathering data and information 3). Product design 4). Validating to experts 5). Revising Design 6). Product test 7). Final product revision. The subject of this research was tenth grade students of social science at SMAN 1 Kec. Binjai Kab. Langkat. The instruments of collecting data were questionnaires and interview. The data analyzed by using descriptive technique. Need analysis questionnaire was calculated using percentage by Suharto (2006) to get an information of students’ need before developing digital conversation media. Expert judgment data were calculated by using Likert Scale, mean and criteria interval of expert judgment to know the validity of digital conversation media which has been develop. The result of expert validation was 4,5 which mean English conversation media is Very Good category. Therefore the media is appropriate to use in the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Kec.Binjai Kab.Langkat to teach speaking. State University ofMedan, 2021.The objectives of this study were to discover the implementation of Genre-BasedApproach in teaching writing text for Tenth Grade at SMA Yayasan PendidikanMulia and to investigate the reasons why teachers use Genre-Based Approach.This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative design. The subject ofthis study was English teacher and students in grade tenth from SMA PendidikanMulia. The techniques of collecting data were observation, interview, anddocumentation. The data were taken from SMA Swasta Mulia Medan, from theresearch, it was found that in applying Genre-Based Approach in Englishcurriculum, and there are five steps that teacher implemented: building knowledgeof field, modeling, joint construction, independent construction and linking relatedtext. From the teacher‟s interview, the result could be found that the reasons whythe teacher of SMA Swasta Mulia Medan using Genre-Based Approach and theproblem faced by teacher and also the solution in teaching writing text.Keywords: Genre-Based Approach, Descriptive Text, Writing Skill.
