Abstract

Symbiosis of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) with Rhizophora spp was observed a Terusan Village, Mempawah Hilir Districts, West Kalimantan.. Purpose of the study is : (1) want to obtain information of association of AMF with Rhizophora spp , (2) the types of AMF associated with Rhizophora spp. This research was conducted for 3 months in Terusan Village, Mempawah Hilir District, West Kalimantan and Silviculture Laboratory, Faculty of Forestry, Tanjungpura University. The research was conducted by lane technique survey method. The results of this study showed that there are 7 types of AMF namely Gigaspora sp, Glomus sp1, Glomus sp2, Glomus sp3, Glomus sp4, Glomus sp5, and Glomus sp6. The total number of spores there are 2,903 spores while for the root sample found the internal hyphae and vesicle in the root.Keywords: Rhizophora spp, mycorrhiza, Mangrove, Terusan Village

Abstract

Forest harvesting is a logging activity, distribution of trunks, skidding, loading and transportation. This activity involves a lot of heavy equipment that results in soil compaction and reduced vegetation cover. This condition causes changes in soil fertility conditions. This study aims to determine changes in soil fertility that occur due to forest exploitation activities. Namely by observing the physical and chemical properties of the soil in the area of the former skid trail, ex-TPn, former TPk, former logging areas. The research method used for data retrieval is the survey method with porposive sampling, while the data obtained is analyzed using descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the analysis of the physical and chemical properties of the soil, it shows that the former TPN area is the area with the lowest soil fertility value. Former logging areas have the best quality of soil fertility compared to other areas; such as former skid trails, former TPk and former Tpn areas even though they are still included in the low fertility classification, with organic matter in the former logged area of 2.24%. The organic matter content is only 0.8% with clay texture.Keyword: harvesting, forest, forest land, soil fertility

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sifat antibakteri dari ekstrak metanol kulit kayu manga pelam (Mangifera laurina Blum.) terhadap Enterococcus faecalis. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan meliputi pembuatan ekstrak methanol (maserasi), skrining fitokimia dan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri (cakram difusi Kirby and Beuer). Kulit kayu M. laurina memiliki rendemen sebesar 17,99% (kadar air serbuk10,17%), dan terdeteksi mengandung golongan senyawa aktif seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, fenolik dan tanin. Aktivitas antibakteri tertinggi khususnya dalam penghambatan pertumbuhan E. faecalis adalah pada kosentrasi 200mg/mL dengan zona hambat 6.042±0,813 mm.

Abstract

Estabilishment of plantation forest (HTI) is one of the land rehabilitation program in Indonesia. The goal of HTI program is to reclaim land for this purpuse. This research aims to characterize physical and chemical change in soil after the reclamation with Acacia mangium Wild. This research employed the survey method, and soil sampling was done purposively. Data were analyzed using a complete random design (RAL). Result show that there were changes in soil physical and chemical properties in area planted with Acacia mangium Wild. C-organic, N-total, K, pH, and porosity of soil increased after the HTI program. Also, soil texture getting improved. P decreased during early planting was decreased, possibly because it used in large amounts for plant growth. After the 6th year after planting the P content started to increase. This is possibly because Acacia mangium Wild partly died-off and dead plant part decomposed and released P to the soil. Abstract

The main problem of cement board manufacturing technology is the length of curing time required to achieve the complete hardening cement. In this reseach, acceleration curing technology has been developed through injection of carbon dioxide (CO2). This research was aimed to analyze the characteristics of cement boards that are made by using CO2 to accelerate the curing process. The wood materials used in this study was candlenut (Aleurites moluccana). Cement board is made with the composition of wood, cement, water: 1: 2.5: 1.25 with a target density of 1 g cm-3. CO2 injection is applied in three phase namely, liquid phase (15oC temperature & 50 kg cm-2 pressure), gas phase (27 oC temperature & 50 kg cm-2 pressure), and super-critical phase (35 oC temperature & 80 kg cm-2 pressure). Each phase is combined with three levels treatment time, namely, 10, 30, and 60 minutes. As a control, cement board with a conventional curing process that was conditioned for 28 days in room condition has been produced. The research results indicated that CO2 injection applications in various phases to produce cement board have better characteristics compared to that of conventional cement board. Cement board using CO2 injection in liquid phase has better characteristics compared to those of gas and super critical phases. However the optimum conditions achieved in the injection time for 60 minutes, while applications with supercritical CO2 has been able to achieve the best results with 10 minutes of injection time. Abstract

Arenga pinnata Merr is a multipurpose trees species  that has long been known to produce industrial materials. Based on the utilization of Arenga pinnata Merr is not only limited to the food alone but also used as a raw material for industrial and land conservation. Arenga pinnata Merr has prospect good to be developed in the tree crop plantations. Arenga pinnata Merr cultivation activities require good quality seeds. Currently Arenga pinnata Merr still growing naturally in the forest. Exploitation by the farmers during this time in the form of Arenga pinnata Merr exploitation of the forest without cultivation. There are concerns Arenga pinnata Merr that grows in nature will be destroyed. The purpose of this research to study the effect of a doses of organic fertilizer and dolomite lime on the growth of Arenga pinnata Merr in the nursery. The study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design factorial models. The study consisted of two factors: factors of organic fertilizer and lime dolomite with five repetitions with a number of plant samples as many as 100 plants. The measured parameters include length midrib, stem diameter and stem height were analyzed using SAS IX. The research proves that organic fertilizer dose of 300 g and 35 g dolomite lime can increase the growth of palm in the nursery.   Keywords: Arenga pinnata Merr, fertilizer, lime, organic.

Abstract

This present research aims to identify related actor, in the formation and development farmers by the format rules, format relation and important role management of people forests in the village of Gattareng. The result of this research is to give inforaton for the farmers about Institutional Form analysis of the people forests by the form, format relation and important role management of the people forests. In addition, this research is conducted in October – November 2017. The research site is in gattareng village, Marioriwawo district, Soppeng regency. The methods of data collection used in this research are observation and interview. Based on research results it was concluded that related actor in establishment and development farmers of the people forests is the farmers, village head in the village of Gattareng, Forestry service in soppeng regency and the peopleof the farmers. In the formation Baccewe farmers the village of gattareng Mr. Bide is the had of the farmers make a formal role and activties by Baccewe farmers. The formal role of Baccewe Farmers is, the membership of farmers where in the membership must have a farmers, meeting for the membership of the farmers must twice for a week and all of the applicable regulation have a sanctions. Important role  the management of people forests in the Village of Gattareng basically for public welfare of the people around the forests. Forestry service and agriculture servise in Soppeng regency do sustainable development of forest resources. By doing policy forest management optimize premises active engagement from people around the forest whose life depends on the forest. Abstract

AbstractThe paper describes a landscape dynamic (Change Index-CI) of Ketapang and Kayong Utara Districs, West Kalimantan, in 1990-2018 and its correlation of peoples’ welfare condition and environmental condition change. Land-based investment has increased sharply in the past 20 years. This condition influences landscape dynamic and climate condition. CI is identified through spatial and temporal analysis by calculating human intervention level to land cover. Meanwhile, the condition of peoples’ welfare at sub-district level is measured from the district’s Human Development Index (HDI) which is analyzed from CI. In this analysis, the HDI is considered a dependent variable and CI level as the independent variable. Landscape environmental condition uses information on annual average temperature of landscape. The study applies simple regression method for the 2000, 2010 and 2018 HDIs with the CI of 1990-2000, 2000-2001 and 2010-2018 periods in 26 sub-districts. The results show that CI has positive correlation with the HDI of 0.086 regression coefficient value. It implies that there is significant correlation of the HDI and CI. The higher the CI value, the higher the HDI will increase. Thus, the regression result is the HDI = 60.103+0.086CI, with <0.05 value (significant). It means every growth by 1% at each sub-district, it will lead the rise of HDI by 0.086% at that sub-district. Meanwhile, the average of annual landscape temperature ascends along the growing CI. The temperature increases significantly by 0.95oC during 1990-2018 periods following the massive land-based investment. On the other hand, prior to the massive land-based investment during 1985-1990, the temperature increase was 0.32oC. Keywords: Change Index, Environmental Condition, Oil Palm, Spatial, Temperature, Welfare AbstrakJurnal ini menggambarkan dinamika lanskap (Change Index – CI) Kabupaten Ketapang dan Kabupaten Kayong Utara, Provinsi Kalimantan Barat pada periode 1990 – 2018 kaitannya dengan kesejahteraan masyarakat dan perubahan kondisi lingkungan. Investasi berbasis lahan mengalami peningkatan secara signifikan dalam 20 tahun terakhir. Kondisi ini mempengaruhi dinamika lanskap dan kondisi iklim. CI dapat diidentifikasi dengan memperhitungkan tekanan manusia terhadap tutupan lahan baik secara spasial dan temporal. Sementara itu, kondisi kesejahteraan masyarakat pada wilayah administrasi kecamatan dihitung dihitung dari Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM) wilayah Kabupaten yang dihasilkan dari analisis menggunakan CI. Pada Analisis ini, IPM merupakan variabel terikat dan indek CI merupakan variabel bebas. Kondisi lingkungan landskap menggunakan informasi suhu rata-rata tahunan.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode regresi sederhana antara nilai IPM tahun 2000, 2010, dan 2018 dengan CI periode tahun 1990-2000, 2000-2001, dan 2010-2018 pada 26 wilayah kecamatan. Hasilnya menunjukkan korelasi positif dengan nilai koefisien regresi IPM sebesar 0.086. Ini berarti bahwa terdapat korelasi signifikan antara IPM dan CI. Kenaikan nilai CI akan meningkatkan nilai IPM. Sehingga, regresi yang dihasilkan adalah IPM = 60.103+0.086CI, dengan nilai <0.05 yang berarti bahwa korelasinya sangat signifikan. Hal ini berarti bahwa setiap kenaikan CI sebesar 1% pada setiap kecamatan, maka ini akan meningkatkan nilai IPM sebesar 0.086% pada kecamatan tersebut. Sementara itu, suhu rata-rata tahunan pada lanskap mengalami kenaikan selama adanya peningkatan CI. Suhu pada lanskap meningkat drastis sebesar 0.95oC selama periode 1990-2018, hal ini sejalan dengan investasi berbasis lahan mengalami peningkatan secara massif. Abstract

This research is purposed to find out the sumateranus elephants natural salting behavior and to find out the salt content in the soli in sumateranus elephants salt licks by used exploration method. The result of the research shows that adult male and female of sumateranus elephant have the same natural salting behaviour. The natural salting bahaviour is divided into 4 division based on the shepherding place, the are swamp, savannah, edge, and mudhole. Salting frequency is influenced by 3 factors they are the availability of woof, condition of health, and weather. The longest salting duration in mudhole. The way of salting is utilizing organs among others: trunk, tusks, ang feet. The average of salt inside the soil in salting place is 0,0133%. Abstract

The aim of this research is to analysis the effect of vegetation structure on abundance of mangrove clam (Polymesoda erosa Lightfoot 1786) at dry season in mangrove forest of Segaraanakan Cilacap. This forest has a degradation area from 17.090 hectare to 9.272 hectare because of illegal logging on mangrove vegetation. The degradation of mangrove vegetation will cause on degradation on mangrove clams. Method of the research was stratified purposive sampling based on mangrove. vegetation  The results of research showed that from cubic regression analysis the mangrove saplings vegetations has no effect onthe abundance of mangrove clams, vice versa, the mangrove seedlings has an effect onthe abundance of mangrove clams. Bio-environment analysis results indicate that mangrove seedlings which influence to mangrove clams abundance were Acanthu sebrateatus, Avicennia marina, Acrostimum speciosum and Sonneratia alba.
