Abstract

Utilization of the natural resources potential of flora and fauna as well as its environmental services in the area of natural tourism refers to the principles of social forest management in its utilization based on ecological, social and economic sustainability. the development of the needs of natural tourism, the natural conservation areas such as National Parks, Forest Parks and Nature Parks. Methods of data collection is done by interview technique assisted by questionnaire tool which submitted to the respondent. The respondent collected by purposive sampling is technique of determining sample with certain consideration. Result of research indicate that society attitude toward determination of mangrove area become tourism object 85 respondent tend to Neutral equal to 62,35%, 08,23% Tend to Reject and Receive equal to 29,42%. Community attitude tend to be neutral to Stipulation of Tourism Object of Mangrove Forest area. This proves that the Sea Dusun Pasir Laut supports or accepts with the determination of tourism objects in the mangrove forest. People who have an attitude tend to accept are people who have a high level of concern for the sustainability of the mangrove forest without ignoring the principle of sustainability.Keywords: Community Attitude, of Tourism Object, Mangrove Forest Area

Abstract

In 2009 the Goverment of Indonesia through the National Development Planning Agency has launched a Sectoral Climate Road Map, where the forestry sector relies on the development of industrial forest plantations (HTI) and forest management units (KPH) with the most efficient consideration of the cost budget and the effectiveness of technical feasibility for sustainability. The policy of HTI development by the Indonesian government furthermore has the opportunity to contribute to climate change mitigation through the REDD + scheme. This study aims to develop the strategies of  industrial forest plantation management for REDD + schemes. This study analyzed internal factors that become strengths and weaknesses as well as external factors that become opportunities and threats using SWOT analysis to develop the strategies. The management of HTI in case of  industrial forest plantation company PT. Finnantara Intiga (FI) was defined as an internal environment, while the external environment covers the entire environment related to HTI and REDD+. The results of the research showed that, the strength score is 1,817 and weakness is 1,186, so the difference is 0,631 (positive), as well as the element of opportunity is greater than the threat. The positive difference values both strength and opportunity indicate the priority strategies that will be used by PT. Finnantara Intiga in the REDD + scheme is an aggressive strategy (SO strategy)by using all the strengths and utilizing the opportunities.Keywords : Industrial forest plantation, REDD+, SWOT Analysis

Abstract

Propagul plant patterns and seeds Rhizophora stylosa Griff.on muddy site in mangrove rehabilitation area of Mendalok Village. This study aims to find the source of sapling and appropriate cropping pattern on the muddy site in mangrove rehabilitation area Mendalok Village. Research using factorial complete design with four treatment combinations, namely A1B1 (Seeds R. stylosa with square plant patterns/ 1 m x 1 m), A1B2 (Seeds R. stylosa with cluster plant pattern / 0.2 m x 0.5 m), A 2 B 1(Propagul R. stylosa with square plant patterns) and A2B2 (Propagul R. stylosa with cluster plant pattern). Each treatment was repeated 5 times. The results showed that the source of saplings (propagules and seeds) have a significant effect on living percentage and have a very real effect on the high growth, diameter and number of R. stylosa leaves. Treatment planting pattern (square and cluster) has not shown any real effectto live percent, high growth, diameter and number of leaves until age 4 months of planting. The results showed the best live percentage was shown by treatment A2B1 amounted to 69.33%. The best high growth is the treatment of A2B2which is 13.94 cm. The best diameter growth is the treatment of A1B1andA1B2 is 0.54 cm. The best growth of leaf number is treatment A1B1ie 8.48 strands. The soil at the research site is a muddy substrate with a dust texture of 60.44%, 38.02% clay and 1.54% sand. Propagules and R. stylosa seedlings can grow well if they are able to adapt to ocean currents.Keywords: cluster, muddy substrate, propagule, Rhizophora stylosa, squarePola tanam propagul dan bibit Rhizophora stylosa Griff. pada tapak berlumpur di areal rehabilitasi mangrove Desa Mendalok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan sumber anakan dan pola tanam yang sesuai pada tapak berlumpur di areal rehabilitasi mangrove Desa Mendalok. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan factorial Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 4 kombinasi perlakuan, yaitu A1B1 (Bibit R. stylosa dengan pola tanam bujursangkar/ 1 m x 1 m), A1B2 (Bibit R. stylosa dengan pola tanam cluster/ 0,2 m x 0,5 m), A2B1 (Propagul R. stylosa dengan pola tanam bujursangkar) dan A2B2 (Propagul R. stylosa dengan pola tanam cluster). Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 5 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan sumber anakan (propagul dan bibit) berpengaruh nyata bagi persen hidup dan berpengaruh sangat nyata pada pertumbuhan tinggi, diameter dan jumlah daun R. stylosa. Perlakuan pola tanam (bujursangkar dan cluster) belum menunjukkan pengaruh nyata terhadap persen hidup, pertumbuhan tinggi, diameter dan jumlah daun sampai umur 4 bulan penanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persen hidup terbaik ditunjukkan oleh perlakuan A2B1 sebesar 69,33 %. Pertumbuhan tinggi terbaik adalah perlakuan A2B2 yaitu sebesar 13,94 cm. Pertumbuhan diameter terbaik adalah perlakuan A1B1 dan A1B2 yaitu 0,54 cm. Pertumbuhan jumlah daun terbaik adalah perlakuan A1B1 yaitu 8,48 helai. Tanah di lokasi penelitian merupakan substrat berlumpur dengan tekstur debu 60,44 %, liat 38,02 % dan pasir 1,54 %. Abstract

A fundamental study was carried out to explore the properties of pandan mengkuang stem (Pandanus atrocarpus Griff). In this study chemical compound was investigated, with regards to pulp and paper production. Completely randomized design was used and as a factor was plant age. The result showed that the level of plant age, had significantly affected to the content of holocellulose, ?-cellulose, pentosan and 1% NaOH solubility. The percentage of extractive content, lignin, holocellulose, ?-cellulose, pentosan, ash content and 1% NaOH solubility were 2.83% ~ 3.71 %; 23.08% ~ 23.88%; 66.8% ~ 68.21%; 38.08% ~ 39.06%; 20.68% ~ 21.14%; 2.7% ~ 3.18%; 24.47% ~ 27.19% respectively. The overall results showed that pandan mengkuang has a promising potential to be used in pulp and paper production. Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the characteristic of composite boards made from coir, plastic waste , and urea formaldehyde (UF). The board samples were manufactured at target density of 0,7 gr/cm3. The weight ratio of waste plastic and coir was 50: 50. the UF adhesive added at 0%, 4%, 8%, 12% and 16% of the total weight of the composite board. The result shows that the characteristic of composite boards improve with UF adhesive added, however no signifivant difference was found statistically. Abstract

Forest is an important natural resource for people’s lives, including various fruits that have been used for food and other necessities. This research aimed to analyze Fruit-producing Plant Vegetations that people consume in Tembawang Area Dusun Toho Raba Desa Rasan Ngabang District Landak Regency. This research used survey method. The vegetation was analyzed by using line compartment method and the observation plots were placed according to purposive sampling, one of the most frequently used sampling technique in research. The transects were made of 3 lines with the space of 200 m between the lines; line 1 with a length of 360 m, line 2 with a length of 420 m, line 3 with a length of 460 m; and 62 observation plots.  The total area of observation was 2.48 Ha. There were 46 types of plant pound at all growth levels. 23 types of Fruit-producing Plant found in observation plots were composed of 19 types of seedling stage, 18 types of saplings stage, 18 types of pole stage, and 20 types of tree stage.Keywords : Area of Tembawang, Fruits, Species Diversity, Trees

Abstract

The aims of this research are to determine the secondary metabolite content found in the ethanol extract of kweni mango bark (Mangifera odorata Griff) and analyze its potency as a natural antibacterial against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The research was started by maceration process using 96% ethanol solvent, then evaporated at 40-50oC and obtain yield of 20,61% with powder content of 8,34%. Furthermore, phytochemical screening was performed qualitatively to determine the secondary metabolite of the extract. The results showed that ethanol extract of M. odorata Griff bark contained secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids and phenolics. In this study antibacterial activity was carried out using disc diffusion method in Plate Count Agar media and incubated for 24-48 hours. The results showed that the largest diameter of inhibitory zones formed at a concentration of 15 mg/ml for S. aureus was 12,33 mm with strong classified and for E. coli bacteria with a concentration of 200 mg/ml of 23,67 mm with very strong classified, and almost equal with the result shown by 30 µg tetracycline as positive control, which is 25 mm. The results of this study it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of the kweni mango bark (M. odorata Griff) is bacteriostatic.Keywords: antibacterial activity, Mangifera odorata Griff, phytochemical screening, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Orangutan body temperature prediction based on faeces temperature is done to determine the health condition of wild orangutans. The body temperature of orangutans in the wild is difficult to measure directly, the difficulty of measuring the body temperature of orangutans in the wild, so we need another method to be able to determine the body temperature of orangutans by measuring faecal temperature as a prediction of orangutan's body temperature in the wild. This research was carried out at the YIARI Rehabilitation site in Ketapang District and the Station Research Cabang Panti Gunung Palung National Park. The purpose of this study was to be able to predict the body temperature of orangutans based on faeces temperature at the Station Research Cabang Panti (SRCP). This study uses a non-invasive method or without measuring directly the object of research. Analysis of the study used simple linear regression using the SPSS and Microsoft Excel programs, prediction of the body temperature of orangutans in the wild was obtained based on the results of simple linear regression calculations at the YIARI rehabilitation site. Research results at the YIARI rehabilitation center were obtained by 10 individual orangutans. feces temperatures obtained an average between 33.4 ° C - 35.83 ° C and an average body temperature of 36.53 ° C - 37.5 ° C, so that the simple linear regression equation obtained is Y = 35.77 + 0.04X. There were 5 orangutans found at the Panti Branch Research Station. The results of orangutan's faecal temperature measurements average between 33.70 ° C-34.90 ° C, and prediction of orangutan body temperature between 37.12 ° C-37.17 ° C, with an average of 37.2 ° C.

Abstract

The tropical rain forest in West Borneo has a variety of plants species that have been used as an ingredient in traditional medicines such as pelanjau wood (Pentaspadon motleyi Hook.f), bakau wood (Rhizopora apiculata) and gerunggang bark (Cratoxylum arborescens (Vahl) Bl). Aim of this research is to determine the yields of pelanjau wood, bakau wood and gerunggang bark ethanol-soluble extracts and bioactive compounds through phytochemical tests. The extraction using was done ethanol as solvent and by maceration. The extracts of obtained phytochemical tested. The results showed that the yield of ethanol extracts pelanjau wood, bakau wood and gerunggang bark was 7,14%; 4,34% and 9,47%, respectively. Abstract

Management of dusung nutmeg is one form of land use systems and community-based forests can provide economic benefits, ecological and socio-cultural. This study aims to describe and explain management performance (productivity, sustainability, equity and efficiency benefits) of dusung nutmeg as a traditional agroforestry system in Maluku. The results showed: dusung formation in the Moluccas through three phases, namely gardens/fields phase, aong (former mixed farms left) phase and dusung phase. Dusung have aspects in terms of economic development, environment and management is essential for the development of its performance. The results show that (1) the cost structure and revenue productivity of farmers nutmeg correlated with the number of plants grown, (2) efforts cultivating and securing is done by the owner with the help of kewang (rangers) are assigned to secure dusung and implementation of sasi, this shows the orientation of the productivity and sustainability, (3) public priorities in dusung management is commercial needs for nutmeg and cloves and subsistence for vegetables, (4) raising dusung relatively efficient if calculated by the ratio of input and output production, and institutional is looked clearly the rights associated with ownership, control, management and so on as well as the availability of and respect for the rules to be mutually agreed between dusung owners, managers, harvesters and the surrounding communities.
