Abstract

Breast cancer is a global and national health concern that affects women worldwide and it is responsible for causing the highest number of cancer-related deaths annually. Additionally, the high incidence of breast cancer imposes a financial burden on the nation. Early breast cancer detection in reproductive age women using breast self-examination (SADARI) was chosen due to simple, inexpensive, and non-invasive procedure. SADARI is very necessary to find out any breast abnormalities so that they can be treated early. This community service project involved providing counseling to female workers in a rubber factory at Palembang city. The counseling was delivered through a lecture and demonstration of SADARI using mannequin. A pre-and post-test questionnaire containing 30 questions was utilized as the evaluation instrument. This activity aimed to measure the increase in knowledge about breast cancer early detection with SADARI among female workers in a Palembang city rubber factory. After counseling, the mean score was 1.42 points higher than before counseling, with p-value of 0.155. The results showed non-significant increase in knowledge before and after the counseling session.

Abstract

Kencong Village is one of the Kencong District villages in Jember Regency, East Java Province. Stunting is a matter that is the main program of the Health Service. However, if you look at it, the stunting rate in Kencong Village has not yet touched zero, even though there are many Community Health Centers (PusTu), Healthy Village Homes (RDS), and Elderly and Children’s Posyandu. The goals and hopes of the KKN Team are that Health Service Assets can improve and develop their quality and role in preventing stunting rates, especially in adolescents. This program is based on the KKN research method, namely the ABCD (Asset-based Community Development)-based KKN application method. The results showed that this socialization was adequate, which can be seen that the posttest average score of 69.53 was more greater than the average pretest score of 58.60, so it could be concluded that there was an increase in the score of 10.93%. The result also showed that this program deserves to be continued consistently and more optimally by collaborating between assets health service with other assets such as village officials or social communities.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with the aim of introducing and implementing a hydroponic plant system in Kalitengah Village through training activities. This was due to the potential that Kalitengah Village had, namely the enthusiasm of the Kalitengah Village community, especially the PKK group, for planting activities. The limited land of each resident's house was also the reason why hydroponic planting activities could be carried out. The method of this activity was socialization and training. The socialization was carried out as a method for delivering material about hydroponics, while the training was carried out as a method for practicing hydroponic plant nurseries, one of which was green lettuce. The results of this activity were seen through indicators of activity success. In general, this activity was attended by 60% of the total invitees. The participants took part in this activity with a high level of enthusiasm from the start of delivering the material to nursery practice. Through this training activity, the people of Kalitengah Village could immediately plant hydroponic plants without supervision from the KKN group so that this activity had a sustainable value.

Abstract

Sexually Transmitted Infections commonly abbreviated as STIs are caused by various types of microorganisms that are usually transmitted through sexual contact. Palembang is the largest contributor of STI and HIV/AIDS cases in South Sumatra. A lecture and discussion with a PowerPoint presentation and posters were used to carry out this community service project. This activity aimed to determine the increase in knowledge about STI and HIV/AIDS after health education for junior high school students in Palembang. A pre-and post-test questionnaire containing ten questions was utilized as the evaluation instrument. According to the frequency distribution of participants' knowledge before health education, 59.5% were in the category of moderate knowledge. In the meantime, after receiving health education, the participants' knowledge improved to 33.3% in the moderate category and 64.3% in the good category. Based on the mean score after health education, the value was 10.48 points greater than before health education with a p-value of 0.00. This health education about STI and HIV/AIDS can significantly improve the knowledge of participants. The most important thing in this community service was to educate students to prevent this disease, thus reducing the stigma and prevalence of these diseases.

Abstract

Anti-corruption education is needed to build children's character with integrity. Children are the next generation of the nation who should have national insight and anti-corruption integrity. It cannot be denied that there are some areas that have problems related to the implementation of anti-corruption education for children. The same thing happened in Kesamben Village, Ngajum District, Malang Regency, where the village still needs teaching staff to provide the right method in teaching anti-corruption values for children. this service activity was carried out by the UNIRA Malang KKN-T team using a service learning (S-L) approach, with the ultimate goal of stimulating children to be able to map problems, find solutions and reflect on the results of activities. Based on the service activities that have been carried out, it is evident that all participants are very enthusiastic and can map problems and solutions to reflect back on the material that has been given.

Abstract

This activity provides training in household-scale halal food production to increase family economic resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic. Members of the KWT Ngudi Mulyo are ideal community partners in this activity. It has started a home-scale business by producing a variety of snacks and cakes, but is constrained by the marketing aspect, there is no halal certification and distribution permit. To provide solutions to these problems, we conduct community service activities based on community development. This community service activity not only provides training on halal products but also provides information related to halal certification, processing of distribution permits for food products, and marketing. Halal certification and distribution permits are important factors that increase the selling value of the product because they are quite a concern for consumers when buying food products. With the implementation of this training, it is hoped that it can strengthen the existence of the food product business that was started by KWT Ngudi Mulyo and its members. Businesses that exist and continue to grow will increase economic resilience.

Abstract

Education is a process that involves imparting knowledge, skills, and values to students by more experienced or knowledgeable educators. The aim of education is to improve students' understanding, knowledge, and skills. The educational process involves interaction between teachers and students and can be done through various methods, including the use of learning media. Learning media refers to tools, resources, or methods used in the learning process to help students understand information better. Learning media can be physical objects or digital media, such as textbooks, videos, animations, or educational software. The aim of using learning media is to increase the effectiveness of learning by presenting interesting, interactive content and making it easier to understand concepts. In the context of citizenship education, interesting learning media can help students understand topics such as country history, government systems, citizens' rights and obligations, democratic values, global perspectives, and social and political involvement. One form of effective learning media is educational games, which can provide an interactive and fun learning experience for students. In implementing interesting learning media, there are several obstacles faced by teachers and students. Some of these obstacles include incompatibility with learning materials and objectives, lack of digital skills, lack of training and support, difficulty in adapting to student needs, and the time and preparation required. To overcome these obstacles, steps that can be taken include implementing training and skills development for teachers, encouraging collaboration between teachers, developing relevant and interesting content, understanding students' needs and learning styles, and encouraging innovation and creativity in media development. learning. Through the implementation of these steps, it is hoped that citizenship learning at SMKN 1 Makassar can become more interesting, interactive, and effective. Teachers and students will have a more enjoyable and meaningful learning experience, thereby increasing their understanding and involvement in citizenship education.

Abstract

As the implementation of meaningful learning on the basic education level, the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbud Ristek) held a collaborative service-learning strategy entitled Kampus Mengajar. This program has been applied since the COVID-19 Pandemic spread out in 2019 and in 2022, it had five batches: Kampus Mengajar I, II, III, IV, and V. Each category has a different vision and mission to achieve the goal of students’ development in literacy, numeracy, and technology on the targeted schools. Kampus Mengajar III with the tagline “Belajar sambil berdampak” is expected to provide significant results, particularly for the schools’ partners. This community service program focuses on developing the student’s literacy, numeracy, and technology knowledge in SD Negeri 2 Karangnongko, Kabupaten Malang. Interviews, class observations, notes, and contextual strategies were applied to collect data during the program using service learning as the research method. In conclusion, this community service program provides significant advantages for students, such as increasing their learning motivation and achievement, however, corresponding improvements need to be explored in the future for better school development.

Abstract

The formulation of the problem taken by researchers in this community service activity is how to provide knowledge and insight about plastic waste processing to the community by empowering the Bojonegoro waste bank community, and how to make ecobricks and develop creative products to reduce non-organic waste in the waste bank community. In Bojonegoro? This community service uses the (ABCD) asset-based community development method, which utilizes used goods and trash that are around that are owned by villagers and then used as material that empowers the waste bank community in Bojonegoro. In the (ABCD) method, asset-based community development has several steps in its implementation and for conducting research, namely discovery, dream, design, define and destiny. Based on the results of community service, it can be concluded as follows: How to make ecobricks using plastic waste by collecting the waste, then cutting it. After that, the bottles are filled with plastic until they are solid and then stacked into bricks. Apart from that, ecobricks can be educational tools such as educational game tools (APE) from ecobricks, and puzzle learning media from ecobricks.

Abstract

This study aims to thoroughly assess the effectiveness of a training program in enhancing the economic prospects of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) sector within the picturesque village of Desa Wisata Ciderum, located in Bogor. The research methodology employed here utilizes a comprehensive case study approach, centering on 25 UMKM practitioners who actively participated in a training program focusing on competency development and digital marketing strategies. Data were meticulously gathered through a combination of in-depth interviews and careful observations. Subsequently, a qualitative approach was employed to meticulously analyze the amassed data. The findings unequivocally demonstrated that the training program wielded a significantly positive influence. It led to substantial increases in sales figures, a notable expansion in market reach, and a remarkable enhancement of UMKM brand recognition within the community and beyond. Furthermore, this training initiative proved to be an effective solution in addressing the existing challenges related to limited knowledge and skills within the UMKM sector. It also played a pivotal role in fostering collaborative partnerships among the UMKM practitioners. The conclusions drawn from this research are of paramount importance, offering invaluable insights into the economic development of Desa Wisata Ciderum. By employing effective and sustainable training approaches, this study underscores the potential for further strengthening the UMKM sector, thereby contributing to the overall prosperity of the village.
