Abstract

The transformation of healthcare services towards sustainability is an urgent need in the face of global environmental challenges. Business sustainability in the healthcare sector is becoming increasingly important as public awareness of responsible environmental practices increases. This study aims to analyze the role of Green Innovation (GI) as an independent variable for Business Sustainability (BS), with Community and Customer Satisfaction (KM and KP) as a moderation variable in AR Bunda Hospitals. This study was conducted by adopting a quantitative approach with a survey method on respondents from the surrounding community and visits and/or families of hospital patients. The results of the study are expected to show that the implementation of Green Innovation and active community involvement are able to strengthen the role of hospitals as environmentally friendly institutions and have an impact on increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty which will have an impact on Business Sustainability. This research also contributes to the development of Green Management theory and strategic practices in sustainable hospital management in Indonesia and provides practical recommendations for the development of business strategies oriented towards environmental sustainability and community welfare.

Abstract

Choosing a study program is an important decision that influences students’ academic engagement and future career pathways. In Indonesian higher education, English Language Education Study Programs are primarily designed to prepare prospective English teachers. However, students’ reasons for selecting this program may not always align with its teacher-oriented objectives. This study aims to explore students’ motivations for choosing the English Language Education Study Program from their own perspectives. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving semi-structured interviews with five undergraduate students enrolled in the English Language Education Study Program in a private university in Yogyakarta. The data were analyzed thematically to identify recurring patterns in students’ motivations and experiences. The findings reveal three main themes: students’ interest in the English language as the primary motivation, the influence of external factors such as parental advice and admission circumstances, and a mismatch between the program’s teacher-education orientation and students’ career aspirations. The results indicate that most students chose the program to develop English proficiency rather than to pursue teaching as a long-term career. This study highlights the importance of understanding students’ motivations in order to support clearer program orientation, effective academic guidance, and curriculum development within English Language Education programs.

Abstract

It is widely acknowledged that education is paramount for all members of society. However, there has been a notable decline in the number of individuals interested in pursuing a career in teaching. This results in many students opting to pursue their studies in other academic fields rather than continuing their education in the education department. Upon reflection, it becomes evident that the motivations underlying students' decisions to enroll in these programs do not align with the department's primary objective, which is to prepare individuals to become educators. This study aims to ascertain whether students aspire to become educators or merely wish to pursue studies in this field to gain proficiency in the language. A qualitative research approach was employed to address the research questions through interviews. In the interviews, the author inquired of five participants in the English education program at UMY. The findings of this study indicate that all five participants expressed a lack of interest in pursuing a career as a teacher. Upon completion of their studies, participants can use the language skills acquired at the institute to pursue alternative career paths. Based on their academic majors, this methodology allows for examining students' interest in pursuing teacher certification.
