Abstract

Indonesian has an important role to be learned by the Thai community, especially the Thai Malay community. This is evidenced by the use of Indonesian in education in several regions in Thailand. BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) learning is closely related to the introduction of culture. In addition to the familiarization method, this research also integrates Sasirangan fabric making process training into BIPA learning. This research uses an exploratory approach and is qualitative in nature, focusing on the learning implementation process. The research subjects consisted of 70 students participating in the BIPA program and Sasirangan training at Ma'had Al-Irsyad Lil-Banat, Yala, South Thailand. Data were collected through observation, hands-on training, recording of activity results, and question and answer sessions, and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the Menyirang training significantly improved participants' Indonesian vocabulary, based on post-training evaluations. The process also encouraged cultural appreciation, with learners actively discussing Banjar culture and Sasirangan patterns. The interactive nature of the training increases the efficiency of language acquisition, as participants frequently ask questions and practice vocabulary in context. The integration of Sasirangan into BIPA learning not only enriches language comprehension, but also effectively introduces Banjar cultural heritage. These results confirm the importance of combining language learning with cultural recognition to achieve holistic educational outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates the past perceptions of Malay-Muslim identity in Thailand's Deep South, with a focus on the historical narratives found in Hikayat Patani and Sejarah Kerajaan Melayu Patani. These texts show how the region's identity was shaped by Islamic heritage, cultural traditions, and resistance to external dominance, especially during Patani's annexation by the Siamese kingdom in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The analysis focuses on the enduring themes of cultural preservation and resistance, which are still relevant in today's contexts as the Malay-Muslim community faces challenges from state integration, globalization, and modern education. By examining how historical memory and contemporary identity discourses interact, this study highlights the significance of historical narratives in forming collective identity and resistance. The results demonstrate how resilient the Malay-Muslim community has been in maintaining its religious and cultural traditions while adjusting to contemporary sociopolitical conditions. By shedding light on the evolving process of identity formation in the face of ongoing marginalization, this study advances our knowledge of the historical and cultural dynamics of the area.

Abstract

This article examines the application of Ahmad Khalafullah's thoughts to the story of Canaan. The research methodology used is a qualitative approach based on literature studies, with primary data from the book al-Fann al-Qasasi fi al-Qur'an al-Karim by Ahmad Khalafullah, as well as secondary data in the form of literature related to the story of Kan'an. The analysis was carried out by applying five components of Khalafullah's thinking, namely: Text Collection, Historical Arrangement of Texts, Text Interpretation, Chapter Division and Preparation, Authenticity and Taklid. The results of the study show that the story of Canaan is part of the literary-historical model (adabi tarikhiy), which provides a moral message that faith is an individual responsibility and cannot be inherited through family relationships. The prophet Noah showed infinite affection by inviting Can'an to board the ark, but Can'an chose to rely on his choice so that he drowned with the disbelievers of his time.
