University students in many developing countries do not experience the same mode choices in developed countries. This study implements existing influence factors of mode choice towards a university in a developing country by analyzing the characteristics of the student’s preferences in choosing the best transportation modes under different circumstances. The primary data is taken through a stated preference survey which is then analyzed using a descriptive statistics approach and findings are compared with existing studies. Firstly, commuter students show a significant interest in driving-alone mode compared to the other four mode choices. Secondly, proximity to campus proves to be influential on students’ mode choices. Thirdly, the majority of students live within their family residences, and this influence their mode choice behavior. Lastly, the results shown are correlated only with evening-period students.

Jalan Laksamana Bintan is a secondary arterial road with high vehicle intensity. They are located in industrial and schooling areas, causing traffic congestion due to many road users. This study aims to determine the performance of the road during adequate working time. This study used the IHCM 1997 method and field surveys to collect data directly. Data was taken at Jalan Laksamana bintan, Batam (Kenki Intersections – Frenkie). The results obtained from the traffic analysis on Thursday, November 10, 2022, 06.30 AM – 07.30 AM with the degree of saturation = 0.5, actual speed = 47.95 km/hour, volume = 3069.45 pcu/hour, capacity = 6082.56, and Level of Services = C. This condition indicates that Jalan Laksamana Bintan is still comfortable and suitable for use by traffic users

Roundabouts are considered to play a role as an effective replacement for signalized intersections and reduce congestion in urban areas. The increase in vehicles each year causes roundabouts to be ineffective in distributing vehicles. This paper aims to analyze road performance. The research method was carried out by means of a field survey. Data was collected from the Tuah Madani Roundabout, Batam, Indonesia. The results show that the average speed is 46 km/hour and a small degree of saturation, with a good level of service. It is stated that the roundabout is still comfortable for motorists to pass through.

Signalized intersections and roundabouts are two types of intersections with different systems. The roundabout at Basecamp intersection, in exchange for signalized intersection in the past, is a new thing in that area. This study aims to determine the opinions of basecamp intersection users who used signalized intersections before switching to the roundabout. The effectiveness of using roundabouts compared to the signalized intersection is measured from users' experience of the basecamp intersection as a benchmark. The user-experience-based questionnaire is the primary method to obtain the user's data which is presented in the form of an average scale of performance for each parameter on the radar graph. In total, roundabout outperforms signalized intersection slightly. However, there are significant gaps in performance on driver distraction-free and traffic flow where roundabouts lead. On the other side, signalized intersections significantly dominated the performance of pedestrians' safety. Meanwhile, there are slight differences in drivers' safety and a respectable gap in drivers' ability where signalized intersections lead.

Due to the country’s growing vehicle population, major cities in Indonesia are experiencing traffic congestion. Traffic congestion can result in driver delays, inconvenience, economic losses, and air pollution. This paper aims to analyze the road performance on Jalan Gajah Mada (Baloi Indah – UIB) Batam. The method that will be used to analyze the road performance on Jalan Gajah Mada (Baloi Indah – UIB) is MKJI 1997. The standard LOS value in determining the classification of roads in this study is D, or the starting current is unstable, the speed is low and varies, and the volume is close to capacity.

Public transportation has a significant role in urban life. One of the well-known public transportation in Batam City is the "Bimbar" City Bus. This research aims to get the satisfaction level of Bimbar users. The method used is data collection techniques using questionnaires, then the data obtained is processed using descriptive analysis techniques using the IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) method. As a result, the average gap between performance and importance is -0.96. The indicator with the highest gap is Cleanliness on city buses, with a value of -1.75, which means that service providers must prioritize their performance on Cleanliness on the bus so that users can feel satisfied. Another indicator that must be improved is adequate vehicle facilities and conditions because users still need to be satisfied with the performance of city bus service providers with relatively high gaps.

Carry is one of the public transportation found in Batam, Indonesia. However, there is a need for innovation so that this public transportation can compete with other public transportation and private vehicles. Therefore, this study was carried out to determine what variables must be considered when determining the level of public satisfaction with "Carry." First, the data collection method is to distribute questionnaires to 131 respondents through google forms. Then the analysis method uses IPA (Importance Performance Analysis), which is presented as a diagram with four quadrants. The results show that the user satisfaction level is 2.85 to 3.45. In contrast, the user importance level is in the range of 4.29 to 4.68, with a gap between -0.94 to -1.68. Finally, based on the study's findings, it can be determined that the variables cleanliness of public transportation facilities, the safety of service users, comfort of service users, and availability of facilities/interiors are placed in quadrant A, requiring special attention.

One of the congestion points that will be analyzed is on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Batam. Congestion will occur during the hours of entering and returning from work. Congestion occurs due to high levels of vehicles that exceed the capacity of the road. Road widening also had a temporary negative impact as traffic congestion worsened. The purpose of this paper is to analyze road performance on Jalan Ahmad Yani (Kepri Mall – Batamindo industrial area). All data is processed to obtain the road service level using the IHCM 1997 guidelines. From direct surveys and data calculations obtained, total traffic flow during peak hour is 5490 pcu/hour, free flow speed (FV) of light vehicles (LV) is 54.72 km/hour and 57 km/hour for each lane. The total capacity is 10407.21 pcu/hour, the degree of saturation per lane is 0.52 and 0.54, and the level of service of Jalan Ahmad Yani value is C.
