Abstract

Germany is one of the destinations for prospective students aiming to continue their higher education. This study aims to understand how Cirebon students adapt to academic activities and the challenges they face while studying in Germany. The research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observations, and a review of relevant previous research articles and related documents. The study employs intercultural communication theory, which covers aspects such as culture shock and adaptation phases to a new culture. The results show the stages that Cirebon students go through when adapting to a new culture: the honeymoon phase, characterized by initial excitement and enthusiasm about the new culture; followed by the frustration phase due to experiencing culture shock when facing the new culture. The next phase is readjustment, where students begin to understand and start learning about the new culture in their living environment and campus. The final phase is resolution, where Cirebon students accept the new culture in Germany. Before adaptation occurs, the study highlights challenges faced during academic activities in Germany, which are caused by internal factors such as religion, food, and weather.

The development of information and communication technology has changed the way humans interact. Social media, as one of these technological products, has become an inseparable part of everyday life. In Indonesia, social media use has increased significantly, especially among the younger generation. This research aims to identify the positive and negative impacts of social media on social interaction in Indonesian society. This study used qualitative research methods. The data collection technique in this research is a literature study. The data that has been collected is then analyzed in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that social media brings significant changes in social interactions and self-identity, including enriching social experiences, developing self-identity, simplifying the communication process, helping to build new communities, assisting individuals in expressing themselves, and increasing social awareness. However, this positive impact is also balanced by negative impacts, such as excessive use of social media leading to dependence and addiction, cyber bullying, privacy theft, social comparison, fake news, and the use of fake identities. The findings of this study have significant implications for policymakers, educators, and social media platform developers. Understanding the dual impact of social media on society can inform the creation of policies and educational programs that promote responsible social media use while mitigating its negative effects.

The tofu industry generates substantial liquid waste that poses environmental challenges due to its high chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), and pH levels. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Eco Enzymes in reducing these chemical parameters in the tofu industry waste in Klumutan Village, Saradan District. Utilizing a Quasi-Experimental method, the research employed purposive sampling of liquid waste from tofu production. The findings revealed that the application of Ecoenzyme at doses of 5%, 10%, and 15%, with detention times of 10, 15, and 20 days, significantly reduced COD, TSS, and pH levels. The results showed that both the dosage and detention time had a substantial impact on the effectiveness of Ecoenzyme in treating the waste. The implications of this study suggest that Eco Enzymes can be an effective, eco-friendly solution for improving wastewater management in the tofu industry, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability.

Abstract

National economic development through the establishment of Islamic Banks is an implementation of Article 29 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. The presence of Islamic Banking in the national economy is a strategic legal policy of the government because its operations are based on the principles of Islamic law, namely principles derived from the Qur'an, Hadith, Ijma', and Qiyas. However, in its application, these principles of Islamic law are manifested in the form of fatwas issued by the National Sharia Council-Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI) as a source of positive law for Islamic banking. Therefore, this study raises legal issues related to the legal position of the Indonesian Ulema Council in the application of sharia principles to Islamic Banking operations in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze and determine the legal position of the Indonesian Ulema Council in the application of sharia principles to Islamic Banking in Indonesia. The research method used is normative research, which provides answers to the problems raised with the perspective of what should be done. The results of the study indicate that the DSN-MUI fatwa has a crucial role as a positive legal basis in the operation of Islamic Banking in Indonesia, although formally it is not a statutory regulation. The implications of this study indicate the importance of recognizing and strengthening the role of the DSN-MUI in the national legal system to ensure compliance of Islamic Banking operations with applicable sharia principles.
