Abstract

This study compares the effectiveness of Random Forest and Naïve Bayes algorithms in classifying WhatsApp messages into three categories: normal, promotional, and fraudulent messages. With over 2.78 billion active users worldwide and 90% of Indonesian internet users utilizing WhatsApp, the platform's end-to-end encryption creates challenges for automatic spam detection, necessitating machine learning approaches. A dataset of 300 messages, equally distributed across the three categories, underwent preprocessing including cleansing, case folding, stopword removal, normalization, and stemming before being converted to numerical form using TF-IDF vectorization. Experimental results demonstrated that Naïve Bayes outperformed Random Forest with higher accuracy (88.67% vs. 86.00%), precision (89.64% vs. 88.95%), recall (88.67% vs. 86.00%), and F1-score (88.61% vs. 85.99%). Cross-validation analysis with 10-fold validation further confirmed Naïve Bayes' superior consistency and stability across all evaluation metrics. Additionally, Naïve Bayes exhibited remarkable computational efficiency, requiring only 0.13 seconds for training compared to Random Forest's 3.65 seconds. Confusion matrix analysis revealed Naïve Bayes' particular effectiveness in distinguishing between normal and fraudulent messages, crucial for preventing users from falling victim to scams. The model successfully identified key fraud indicators such as "claim," "account," and "verification" while demonstrating precision in ambiguous cases. These findings contribute significantly to developing more effective spam detection systems for encrypted messaging platforms where traditional filtering mechanisms cannot be applied, ultimately enhancing user safety and experience through automated identification of potentially harmful content.

Abstract

This study evaluates the impact of an earthquake on a mini-hydropower plant (MHP) and formulates a disaster management strategy to enhance the operational resilience of MHPs against seismic events. Data was collected through interviews with relevant stakeholders, direct observations, and analysis of pertinent documents. The findings indicate that the 2018 Lombok earthquake caused severe damage to the catchment area, triggering increased sedimentation that disrupted the MHPs operation, resulting in decreased electricity production and escalated operational costs. Mitigation measures were implemented and proved effective in reducing debris-related downtime and improving electricity generation. Thes findings are expected to provide guidance for MHP operators in mitigating the negative impacts of earthquakes and similar disasters on plant operations.

Abstract

Using fossil fuels contributes to carbon dioxide and methane emissions that increasingly damage nature. Innovations in renewable energy that are more environmentally friendly with good energy supply chain management need to be implemented immediately. Indonesia is an archipelagic country with an imbalance in energy sufficiency figures in several regions, including Balikukup village in East Kalimantan. This condition hinders people's daily activities and is a significant obstacle to business activities. This research was conducted to design a zero-carbon renewable hybrid energy innovation that can preserve the environment and improve the community's economy using solar energy and coconut shells. The design was simulated using the HOMER application to find out how much potential and electricity the residents of Balikukup village would get. This study obtained a system configuration scenario: the marine product drying machine, which has a total production of 4,106 kWh/yr. This machine requires a PV capacity of 7,627 kW/yr, 18 batteries, and an inverter capacity of 1.62 kW. In addition, coconut shell briquettes can also optimize the marine product drying machine where 100 - 150 kg of coconut shell waste can increase the drying temperature to 60° - 70° C in a faster time of around 3 - 4 hours to reduce the weight of marine products from 5 - 8 kg to 1 - ½ kg.

Abstract

Generally, the configuration of the substation grounding system is in the form of a grid or mesh, where several conductor rods are installed vertically and horizontally or combined with conductor rods planted deep in the ground from each point or not. The substation configuration is very complex because of the many variables used in accordance with IEEE Standard 80-2013. This variable also influences the allowable and actual magnitude of the step voltage and touch voltage. The substation grounding system configuration can be designed in several shapes including rectangular, square, L-shaped and T-shaped. The parameters used are an area of 70 m x 70 m, a conductor rod depth of 0.5 meters with a total conductor length for a rectangle of 1540 meters without rods, an L-Shaped shape of 1755 meters and a T-Shaped shape of 3857 meters. The results obtained by the resistance of the grounding system without rods in the T-Shaped configuration were 2.39 Ω. For the resistance results, the grounding system uses a rod with the same area and a conductor length of 3917 meters with a resistance value of 2.39 Ω in the T-shape configuration. The results of the resistance values obtained with various forms of grounding system configurations and varying conductor lengths are still safe and below the threshold or standard of the grid grounding system.

Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of transients that occur in capacitor bank switching using a power factor regulator (PFR). Electric power systems use capacitor banks to offset reactive power, enhance power factors, and minimize energy losses. However, the switching process in capacitor banks can cause significant voltage and current spikes, known as transient phenomena, which can damage equipment and disrupt system stability. This study conducts simulations and analyzes the impact of transients that occur during the capacitor bank switching process on the electric power system. The simulation is carried out using software that models the behavior of the electric power system, focusing on how the power factor regulator regulates the switching process and its impact on the resulting transients. The simulation results show that the use of PFR can reduce the negative impact of transients, but improper settings can still cause disturbances that have the potential to damage the system. These findings provide important insights for system engineers in designing and operating more reliable power systems, considering the importance of proper settings on the power factor regulator to minimize the effects of transients on capacitor bank switching. This study also recommends several mitigation strategies to reduce the impact of transients and improve overall system stability.

Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Naïve Bayes algorithms for sentiment analysis of TikTokShop application user reviews. As TikTokShop emerges as an innovative platform integrating social media with e-commerce, understanding user sentiments becomes crucial for both consumers and businesses. A balanced dataset of 3,000 user reviews (1,000 positive, 1,000 neutral, and 1,000 negative) was collected through web scraping from Google Play Store. Following comprehensive preprocessing including cleansing, case folding, normalization, tokenization, stopword removal, and stemming, the data was vectorized using TF-IDF. Performance evaluation utilized accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, confusion matrix, and 10-fold cross-validation. Results demonstrate that SVM consistently outperformed Naïve Bayes with higher accuracy (68.86% vs. 64.48%), precision (68.43% vs. 64.19%), and F1-score (68.58% vs. 62.46%). SVM exhibited balanced classification across all sentiment categories, while Naïve Bayes excelled at identifying negative sentiments (94.1% accuracy) but struggled significantly with neutral reviews (38.5%). Despite SVM's superior performance, Naïve Bayes demonstrated remarkable computational efficiency, with training time 224 times faster than SVM. The study reveals complementary strengths between the algorithms, suggesting potential value in ensemble approaches. These findings contribute to the understanding of sentiment analysis in video-based e-commerce platforms and provide valuable insights for businesses seeking to leverage user feedback for improved decision-making.

Abstract

Electrical energy has become a human need along with economic improvements and technological advances that require an unlimited supply of energy. Its nature is limited to fossil energy sources and also causes environmental pollution, so it is necessary to use renewable energy as another energy source to overcome this problem. Solar energy is freely available, is an environmentally friendly energy source whose application results have been proven and have promising prospects for the future. This paper presents the results of a research review on the use of solar energy as an alternative source of renewable energy, the basic concept of obtaining it and some results of using this energy. Next, we will briefly review the potential and use of solar energy sources in Indonesia. The high potential of solar energy in Indonesia needs to be processed and regulations that support the development of solar energy power plants as an alternative energy. Technically, solar photovoltaic energy has the potential to become an alternative energy source for the masses in the future as a substitute for fossil energy and to meet the electrical energy needs of remote areas.
