Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using sago starch, tempe flour and purple sweet potatoflour to the characteristics physicochemical and sensory of the cookies and meet the quality standard ofcookies (SNI 01-2973-1992). The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatmentand four replications. The treatment in this study were K1 (sago starch 100%), K2 (sago starch 60%, tempehflour 20%, purple sweet potato flour 20%), K3 (sago starch 50%, tempeh flour 25%, purple sweet potato flour25%), K4 (sago starch 40%, tempeh flour 30%, purple sweet potato flour 30%), K5 (sago starch 30%, tempehflour 35%, purple sweet potato flour 35%). The data obtained were statistically analyzed using analysis ofvariance (Anova). If F count is greater than or equal to F table, then conduted a further test with Duncan’sNew Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showed that the treatment significantlyeffect to the moisture content, ash content, protein content, analysis texture, descriptive sensory assessmentand hedonic sensory assessment and non significant on the overall hedonic ratings. The best cookies in thisresearch is was K3 with has 2.95% of moisture content, 1.14% of ash content, 8.86% of protein content 4.30kgf of texture, coloured purple, sweet scent purple sweet potato, slightly brittle texture and having sweetness.

Abstract

The research objective was to evaluate the effect of leguminosa biomass and NPK fertilizer with various doses on the growth of cocoa plant. Research was conducted in the experimental Garden of Riau University, Pekanbaru starting on April 2005 until December 2005. The sampling that had been applied Complete Random Sampling (RAL) factorial. First factor was Biomass which consist of Bengkuang biomass 40 g/polybag (B1) and Biomass sentro 40 g/polybag (B2). Second factor was pearl NPK fertilizer with doses of 15:15:15; those factor were P0: 0 g/polybag, P1: 2 g/polybag, P3: 4 g/polybag, P4: 6 g/polybag. Parameter observed were the characteristic of soil chemistry and biology, seed tall, seed diameter and dry weight. Result of observation show that bengkuang cultivation and sentro could repair the characteristic of soil chemistry. Interaction did not have a significant effect on crop tall, seed diameter and seed dry weight. Combination treatment of bengkuang biomass and sentro and also NPK fertilizer had a significant effect on seed tall crop diameter and seed dry weight, but did not have a significant effect on leaf number. Best treatment combination was bengkuang biomass and NPK pearl manure (B1) with 4 g/polybag dose (P2).

Abstract

The substitution of urea with Tithonia diversifolia biomass with concentration of 25 % , 50%, 75%and 100% on corn had been applied in burnt peat soil. The aim of research was to incrca.se absorpiion of soilfor elements needed, to improve the qoality of corn yield. Abstract

Tempe adalah makanan khas Indonesia yang terbuat dari biji kedelai yang difermentasi dengan jamur Rhizopusoligosporus. Tempe memiliki daya simpan yang singkat, sehingga membutuhkan pengolahan lanjutan untukmemperlama daya simpan. Nugget yang sering beredar di pasaran adalah nugget dengan bahan baku dagingatau ikan, sedangkan nugget dengan bahan baku tempe jarang dijumpai. Kacang merah merupakan sumberyang baik untuk karbohidrat kompleks, protein, vitamin B, kalsium, fosfor dan zat besi. Salah satu carapemanfaatannya adalah dengan mengolahnya menjadi tepung. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisispengaruh substitusi tepung kacang merah terhadap nugget tempe sebagai pangan kaya zat besi. Metode yangdigunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) satu faktordengan 5 (lima) kelompok perlakuan, 4 (empat) kelompok eksperimen dan 1 (satu) kelompok kontrol. Analisisstatistik yang digunakan adalah one way ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji post hoc tukey dengan derajatkepercayaan 95%. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu substitusi tepung kacang merah terhadap nugget tempe tidakberpengaruh signifikan terhadap kadar proksimat dan uji mutu hedonik tekstur dengan p value >0.05. Namunberpengaruh signifikan terhadap uji hedonik secara keseluruhan dan mutu hedonik warna, aroma, rasa sertakadar zat besi dengan p-value <0.05. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah substitusi tepung kacang merahberpengaruh nyata terhadap tingkat kesukaan, mutu hedonik, dan kadar zat besi nugget tempe.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to obtain the best concentration of palm sugar is added in the spreadableginger jam and meet the quality standards of fruit jam (SNI 3746-2008). The experiment design used CompletelyRandomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment is palm sugar with concentration(45%; 50%; 55%; 60%; 65% and 70%, respectively). Data optained were analyzed statistically using Anovaand further tested with DNMRT at the level of 5%. The treatment gave significant effect on water content, ashcontent, total dissolved solids, hedonic test, descriptive test (color, brightness, aroma of ginger, ginger flavor,richness and subtlety) and had not significant effect on degree of acidity (pH), fiber content and descriptivetest (caramel aroma and taste of sugar). The best treatment on this research was ginger jam S1, with pH 4,33,moisture content of 22,98%, ash content 2,86%, total dissolved solids 69,93%, fiber content 0,19% and interms of acceptable sensory by panelist’s.Key words: Jam, ginger, palm sugar.

Abstract

Jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) is one of biodiesel resources with high oil content of 35 to 45%. It can grow up in vegetative and generative way. Growth of this plant could be enhanced by giving natural Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) such as cow’s urine which is easy to take, easy to apply, and cheaper than other materials. PGR will be useful for plant if given in low concentration, but in high concentration it will damage the plant. This research aimed to know influence of interaction of storage period and urine concentration to the plant’s growth. It used randomized factorial block experiment with two factors and three replications. The two factors were: (1) storage time of urine (8, 12, and 16 days), and (2) cow’s urine concentration of 25, 50, 75, and 100%.Key Word : cow's urine, jarak pagar, Jatropa cuircas

Abstract

Thestudy aimed to analyze the income distribution and inequality of farmer housthold in Kuok village,Kampar District The data used in the study were collected from survey in June to November 2004. The resultof study shows that agricultural income was dominated by income distribution of farmer household.Agricultural income has the highly positive correlation to increase the total income of farmer household.Income distribution of household was high inequality, shown by the gini coefficient of 0.437. According to thefactor inequality weights of resource incomes, agricultural income contributed the largest portion to the totalincome inequality of farmer household. Income from paddy and livestock increased the income inequality ofagricultural income, and income from rubber decreased the inequality of agricultural income. The salaryfrom government employment contributed the largest portion to non-agricultural income incqualitj, and self-employment .«ich as earnings from shop keeping, unskilled labor, private sector, and other activities decreasedthe non-agricultural income inequality.

Abstract

Noodles is one of the favorite foods in Indonesia. This condition is due to the practicality in processing thenoodles so that anyone does not take long to cook it and can be served in various variations. Therefore itneeds an innovation to make dry noodles with other useful compounds such as antioxidants so that the drynoodle can be more healthful for the consumers. The research was done by factorial completely randomizeddesign experiment, ie pre treatment of red beans and the amount of beet extracts added. The results showedthat the best results was found when using pre treatment boiling for red beans for 90 minutes and the additionof 50% beet extract for making dry noodles. This treatment produced dry noodles with phytic acid of 0.398%,acid number of 0.291 mg KOH / g of oil and antioxidant activity of 42.188%.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the dose of pota«ium Tertilizer, phnt spacing and sawdust ash toincrease production of ginger and com planted at multiple cropping system. TMs research was conducted byCompletely Randomized Btocii Design (RAK) factorial consisted of 2 facton and 3 replications. The researchstarted on April and fmisbed on Augnst 2<m. The first factor was potaasinm fcrtlizcr with dose ofO kg KCVha, iOO kg KCI/ha, 200 kg KCI/ba, and 300 kg KCI/ha. The second factor was different plant spacmg ofginger crop which were 25 i3S cm, 30140 cm, and 35 x 45 cm. Every treatment and replication was 2 x 2 m.Parameters observed were height of ginger crop and corn crop, relative growth rate of ginger and corn,number of ginger crop, wet weight of ^nger crop, dry weight of ginger crop, the timeflowersappear of corn,dry grain weight of com crop, and weight of 100 com grains. The result of linear analysb of variant wascontinued by Duncan New Multi|rie Range Test (DNMRT) at 5 level Researchrasnhindicated that application%of potassium fertilizer with dose of 100 kg/ha and 25 x 3S cm of ginger crop spacing represented the besttreatmen t to increase production of ginger and application of potassium fertSizer with dose of300 kg/ha and30 X 40 cm, 35 x 45 cm represented (he best treatments to increase production of corn.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain the best percentage of mixed kolang kaling and pineapple fruit tomeet the quality of jam baes on SNI No. 01-3746:2008. This study used experimental method using a completerandomized design (RAL) consisting of five treatments with three replications to obtain fifteen experimentalunits. The treatment of this study was the percentage of kolang kaling porridge and pineapple pulp: KN1(90:10), KN2 (80: 20), KN3 (70: 30%) KN4 (60:40) and KN5 (50:50). Data were analyzed using Analysis ofVariance (ANOVA) and Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The best treatment of thisresearch was KN5 which had moisture content of 26,56%, ash content of 0,49%, crude fiber of 0,85%, totaldissolved solid of 65,20 °brix, sucrose content of 54,74%, viscosity 104421,22 cPs. The results of the sensorytest were descriptively colored of yellow, flavourful of kolang kaling and pineapple fruit, the taste of kolangkaling and pineapple fruit, soft texture and overall assessment hedonic jam was favored by panelists.
