Abstract

Ikan patin (pangasius sp.) mengandung lemak dan protein tinggi sehingga rentan mengalami pembusukan. Untuk mengurangi risiko tersebut, dilakukan pendinginan pada penyimpanan serta pengemasan ikan patin dengan penambahan indikator kesegaran untuk mempermudah konsumen mengenali kualitas ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan warna indikator selama masa penyimpanan, serta mengetahui korelasi perubahan warna label indikator dengan mutu ikan patin. Label indikator dibuat menggunakan pewarna alami berupa antosianin dari ekstrak ubi ungu. Ubi ungu diekstraksi dengan menggunakan alkohol 70%, kemudian dilakukan variasi pH pada lautan ekstrak (pH 2, 5, 8, dan 11). Variasi pH ini digunakan sebagai larutan indikator. Sensitivitas larutan terhadap gas amin diuji dengan menggunakan NH4OH yang diletakan bersama larutan indikator di wadah tertutup selama 2 jam. Pengujian label indikator dilakukan dengan aplikasi pada ikan patin, selain itu dilakukan pengukuran nilai L*a*b*, pH ikan, dan uji organoleptik yang dilakukan setiap 4 hari selama 12 hari dengan 2 ulangan. Hasil uji sensitivitas didapatkan bahwa larutan indikator sensitif dan menujukkan perubahan warna terhadap uap NH3 yang dihasilkan selama pengujian. Berdasarkan pengukuran nilai L*a*b, variasi pH 2 dan 5 menghasilkan perubahan warna yang signifikan dan sesuai dengan hasil pengamatan secara visual dimana warna label berubah dari merah muda dan ungu menjadi biru muda. Sedangkan variasi pH 8 dan 11 tampak terjadi pemudaran warna. Hasil pengukuran pH awal 7.4±0.0 dan pH akhir 7.7±0.28. Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukan ikan sudah tidak segar pada hari ke-4 berdasarkan penilaian kenampakan, bau, dan tekstur (SNI 2729:2013). Kesimpulan yang didapatkan adalah ekstrak antosianin ubi ungu dapat digunakan untuk mendeteksi kesegaran ikan patin.

Abstract

Utilization of organic waste for fertilizer can be enhanced by decomposer substances such as biotic or abiotic decomposers. A field experiment had been conducted to determine the impact of various kinds of decomposers applied to organic waste on chilli growth and production. The decomposer used including Trichoderma sp, stardec, EM-4 and M-Bio and assigned in the field by randomized block design. The result indicated that among decomposers used, EM-4 greatly enhanced decomposition as it promoted better plant growth and greater yield of the chilli. Abstract

Investigation study of adoption level was evaluated from activities to increase product and quality of snake fruit plant conducted by BPTP Riau until 1998. These activities were evaluatedin April to September 2005. The aim of the evaluation was to obtain data on adoption level of recommended technology, and impacts of recommended technology on productivity and farmer income. During evaluation, some information such as farmer income was collected by survey method. Result indicated that score from evaluation of activities to increase product and quality of snake fruit plant averaged 2,04 which was moderate for cooperator farmer, while score for non cooperator farmer, while score for non cooperator farmer averaged 1,69.

Abstract

The study on the innuence of altitude and season toward aphid population fluctuation inpotato plant. This research was carried out in Rimbo Data, Aia Butunibuak and Sukaraniiareas. Aphid identification was done in Laboratory of Agronomy Study Program, Faculty ofAgriculture, Andalas University, Padang, and in the Research Hall of Fruit Plant, Solok. Theaphid population fluctuation was observed by capturing the aphid flying by installing threetraps of Moerickc tray put in the potato plantation in each area. Treatment of this researchwas in the difference of position altitude of the capture area, viz, Rimbo Data (1,700 mDPL), Aia Batunibuak (1.350 m DPL), and Sukaranii (1.000 in DPL). The research resultshowed that the aphid population in the potato plantation was lower in the area of RimboData (1.700 m DPL) compared with the area of Aia Baturnbuak (1,350 m DPL) and Sukarami(1.000 m DPL). The period witliout aphid was only found in the area of Rimbo Data atOctober, and January, The type of dominant aphid in Rimbo Data was Macrosiphumeiiphorbiae, in Aia Baturnbuak and Sukaranii were Aphis fabae.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan kombinasi terbaik dari bubur kulit pisang kepok dan buah jambu biji merah pada kualitas dan karakteristik sensori fruit leather. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri dari lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan, menghasilkan 20 unit eksperimen. Perlakuan dari penelitian yaitu JK1 (bubur kulit pisang kepok 10:90 bubur jambu biji merah), JK2 (bubur kulit pisang kepok 20:80 bubur jambu biji merah), JK3 (bubur kulit pisang kepok 30:70 bubur jambu biji merah), JK4 (bubur kulit pisang kepok 40:60 bubur jambu biji merah), dan JK5 (bubur kulit pisang kepok 50:50 bubur jambu biji merah). Parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini meliputi kadar air, kadar abu, derajat keasaman (pH). Kadar serat kasar, gula pereduksi, dan uji organoleptik (deskriptif dan hedonik).  Perlakuan terbaik pada fruit leather ini adalah JK1 (kulit pisang kepok 10:90 jambu biji merah) yang memiliki kadar air 10.59%, kadar abu 1.07%, derajat keasaman (pH) 3.42, kadar serat kasar 3.91%. kadar gula pereduksi 20.66%. warna agak merah (skor 2.56), rasa jambu biji merah (skor 2.50), rasa asam sedikit manis (skor 3.33), tekstur agak kenyal (skor 2.18).

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe utilization of oxygen and steam as a snack expansion is one of the new method that have been tested toproduce a quality product. Modification of the structure and materials through the DIC (détente instantanecontrole) as of the fast autovaporasion through the extreme thermodynamic conditions by heating and rapidcooling. Comparison of steam and oxygen is entired particles to be into the material particles influence thecharacteristics and the composition of volumes largely expanded. Capacity expansion through volumes ofmaterial properly occurs properly if steam is used. Using oxygen of expansion with several experimentscannot affect a significant change in the characteristics of the material. Changes in temperature and pressureaffect the rate of expansion of the product, but the moisture content accelerate the expansion process in afood product. These modifications are generally derived from the structural characteristics of the productthat is translated through the expansion of the material conditions and also the value of the rheology ofmaterials. The composition of the structure of a product can be changed by temperature, pressure andvacuum.Key words: hydrogen, steam, DIC, snack, expansion

Abstract

The objective of this research was to observe the effect of interaction between plant catalyst 2006 fertilizer and gibberellins on the growth and yield of tomato. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which was arranged in factorial with two factors and three replications. The first factor was concentration of plant catalyst 2006 fertilizer (P) which consisted of P0 (0 g/l), P1 (1,0 g/l), P2 (I,5 g/l), P3 (2,0 g/l), and P4 (2,5 g/l). The second factor was Gibberellin (G) which consisted of G0 (0 ppm), G1 (50 ppm), G2 (75 ppm), G3 (100 ppm), and G4 (125 ppm). Parameters observed were plant height, total flower, harvesting time and fruit weight. The result of this research shows that interaction between plant catalyst 2006 fertilizer (2,0 g/l) and gibberellins (50 ppm) exhibited the best effect on harvesting-time of tomato production.

Abstract

Kenerak (Goniothalamus umbrosus) is one species of Goniothalamus genus and becomes sourcesof important traditional medicines for local people in Southeast Asia. Goniotltalamus plants are consideredto have great sources of pharmaceuthical substances and used as anticancer agent. Based on this thepreliminary study was carried out to overcome dormancy of kenerak seeds using seed explants showed thatbest result to enhance rapid germination was found for M S A4 (0.5 mg/12.4-D) medium after 3-8 weeksculture and total germination on E6 (2.0 mg/l 2.4-D 4- 0.5 mg/l B A P ) medium of 80%. This is better thanconventional methods which is about 6-12 months. Therefore la vitro technique can be used to overcomedormancy in seeds of kenerak.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to obtain exact formulation of combination of yellow sweet potato puree anddry coconut dregs based on quality standards for making cookies. This study used a completely randomizeddesign (RAL) with five treatments and three replications. The treatments of yellow sweet potato puree anddried coconut dregs on wheat flour consists of UK1 (70% yellow sweet potato puree and 0% dried coconutdregs), UK2 (65% pure yellow sweet potato and 5% dried coconut dregs), UK3 (60% yellow sweet potatopuree and 10% dried coconut dregs), UK4 (55% yellow sweet potato puree and 15% dried coconut dregs),and UK5 (50% yellow sweet potato puree and 20% dried coconut dregs). Data were statistically analyzedusing ANOVA and DNMRT at 5% level. The result of analysis of variance showed that the formulation ofcombination of yellow sweet potato puree, dry coconut dregs, and wheat flour had significantly affectedwater, ash, fat, protein, crude, and carbohydrate content as well sensory assessment. The results showed thatthe selected treatment was UK3 with which got a moisture content of 3,80%, ash content of 1,87%, fat contentof 24,90%, protein content of 7,49%, crude fiber of 4,00%, and carbohydrate content of 61,93% with thesensory description yellow in color, yellow sweet potato and coconut pulp flavour, yellow sweet potato andcoconut pulp taste, and crispy in texture and be liked overall by panelists.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe aim of this research was to get the optimum concentrations of NaOH as an alternative anticoagulant oflatex. This research was conducted at Laboratory of PT. Andalas Agrolestari, Kuantan Singingi on July toDecember 2014. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with two steps. The first step wasto know the ability of NaOH to latex stabilities and step II was to saw the ability of format acid for latexclumed after anticoagulant came in. Data obtained were treated by the analysis of variance (ANOVA) followedby Duncan’s NewMultiple Range Test (DNMRT) the level of 5%. The results showed that optimumconcentration NaOH was addition NaOH 5%. The addition of NaOH 5% had significant effect on theanticoagulant retention time, coagulant retention time, pH, ash content, volatile substance content, Po valueand PRI value, but had not significant effect on the dry rubber content and dirt content.Key words: Anticoagulant, coagulant, latex.
