Abstract

Health, according to the World Health Organization, is “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity”. Over time, different definitions have been given for various objectives. Healthy behaviors may be motivated, like regular exercise and getting sufficient sleep, while unhealthy behaviors, like smoking or more stress, can be reduced or ignored. Some variables that impact health are caused by individual decisions, such as whether for busy in high-risk activities, while others are the result of structural factors, such as how society is structured and how easy or difficult it is for individuals to get primary healthcare services. Others, including hereditary illnesses, are independent of individual and societal preferences. The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was introduced by the Indian government on April 12th, 2005. The mission's objective is to increase peoples' access to and availability of high-quality healthcare, particularly for those living in rural regions, the underprivileged, disabled, women, and children. To address the mental health issues and challenges, it must be the part of NRHM. In this paper the objective is to analyses the importance of inclusion of mental health in NRHM and to examine the role of National Mental Health Program (NMHP) and District Mental Health Program (DMHP) since its inception.

Abstract

Children are often negatively affected by large-scale rural-urban migration. This study examines the effects of cash transfer payments on left-behind children and migrant children and explores the adequacy of child cash transfer programs. Multivariate regressions were performed to examine the effects of child cash transfer benefit on two types of children using the data were from European Union and Sida granted project. We found while the transfer increased the incomes of recipient households, the living condition of children measured by meals, transportation to school, clothing expenditure, socializing expenditure, and self-reported adequacy remained disproportionately low compared with their no-transfer neighbors. The study suggests the multidimensional poverty experienced by children affected by migration requires multifaceted policy solutions.

Abstract

This study was conducted to document bryophyte species in a forest patch of Pres Roxas, Cotabato, Philippines. A modified belt transect method was employed and 3 transect lines were established along the human-established trail. Moreover 5 1x1m2    quadrats were randomly established in each transect line.  A total of 18 species of mosses and liverworts were identified. These species were classified under 11 families, and 14 genera.  Nine (9) species of bryophytes were identified from both transect 1 and 2 while in transect 3, only 5 species thrived. Of the 18 species identified, Thiudium benguetense is found in the 3 transect lines established. Two (2) were identified endemic to the Philippines - Ecthropothecium ferrugineum  and Thiudium benguetense.  Moreover, similarity index showed that 86% are discordant species and each transect line harbors unique species of bryophytes. It is recommended that intervention in the protection and conservation of the remaining flora community of the mountain ecosystem must be employed given that community is dependent on the water coming from it.
