Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop Piconet Pervasive system from previous research that analyzed security system and optimized system performance of video streaming rate data transmission over Bluetooth Piconet Pervasive network, using Symbian OS on the client side. This research was still running on client side Symbian platform by using point-topoint topology. Based on previous research, in this study, Piconet pervasive system is developed. The system runs on Android and Symbian operating system on the client side, using point-tomultipoint topology. This research is a quantitative research with experimental method. Data analysis is carried out using descriptive statistics method. In this paper, a piconet pervasive system that meets Cisco standard from previous research is developed, by optimizing server-side and Bluetooth device on client-side, where the result of packet loss meets Cisco standard. All average values of throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss parameters are eligible for Cisco standard video streaming for 5 m and 10 m measurements, where packet loss is below 5%. The results show that the greater the interference of Wi-Fi on the Bluetooth Piconet Pervasive network, the quality of video received by the client (mobile phone) decreases, marked by the increasing value of average packet loss obtained during the video streaming.

Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), malignant tumor (cancer) is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Among all types of malignant tumors, malignant breast tumor (breast cancer) is the most common malignant tumors found, especially in women. One of four ways to distinguish benign breast tumor from malignant ones is by doing Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) test. This method is simple, quick, inexpensive, and can be performed either in outpatients or inpatients. Although FNA is much more preferred than the other methods, the accuracy of FNA varies widely. Therefore, this research is conducted to find the best model to classify malignant breast tumors and benign breast tumors, based on data from FNA test by evaluating value of Area Under the Curve (AUC) of three algorithms, Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), Support Vector Machine with Radial Basic Function kernel (SVM-RBF), and Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP). The breast cancer data set used in this research is obtained from Wisconsin Breast Cancer (Original) Data set available in the UCI Machine Learning Repository. The experiment shows that SVM with eliminating missing value data set achieved the best result, with AUC value 99.23 and cost $2,740.20.

Abstract

Academic potential of students becomes the main success factor in learning activity. Academic potential analysis with various types of variables requires reliable computational classification techniques. The main objective of this study is to implement the Simple Additive Weighting formula with Standard Preference approach (PS-SAW) as a new technique in classification field. In this study, PS-SAW was implemented based on research need and research objectives. The PS-SAW method was applied by finding average value of preferences from the best data classification as a standard preference, and further becomes the basis for determining the classification of new data. The results showed that the implementation of PS-SAW in data test was more selective than the basic SAW with selectivity about 21,02%, and early recommendation by 85,99%. This research can be a reference for building major system and can be implemented in general application classification system.

Abstract

Student Admission is an annual compulsory activity which is always conducted by universities, both state university and private university. Student admission information is usually disseminated through a website, including registration information, test schedule, test location, and test result. This kind of publication requires prospective students to always monitor the pages of student admission site for checking whether there is new information or not. If prospective students do not always monitor the web, they may not getting the latest information, especially if there is a change of schedule information, location, or test result. Therefore, it is necessary to build an Androidbased student admission application by applying push notification feature. Application is built through the stages of requirement analysis, design, implementation, and testing. The test results show that Android-based student admission application is able to serve as student enrollment media. In addition, the application is also able to convey the latest information related to student admission in real time. Thus, prospective students do not need to always access the web for obtaining latest information.

Abstract

Syllabus and lesson plan (RPS and RPP in Indonesian), which consist of topics and plan for conducting a subject during a period of time, are essential elements for teaching and learning activity. Therefore, in order to conduct subject successfully, syllabus and learning plan should be revised before class started. However, the revising activity is not a simple activity and sometimes becomes a complex activity that takes time. Consequently, in many cases, teachers tend to regret doing this activity; and if do so the maximal result will not be achieved. To solve this problem, Lective Gegulang™ was built to help teacher managing syllabus and lesson plan. Using Lective Gegulang, a teacher is able to work collaboratively by sharing their documents and discussing their work. Lective Gegulang is an interactive tool that adapts dynamically to high education policy and any possible changes, so, it is easy for the teacher to modify their syllabus and lesson plan; and then evaluates its consistency. Then, testing was conducted by four education experts by validating 13 features of Lective Gegulang. The result shows that 48.1% of all features are completely compliance with the syllabus and lesson plan development flow. Then, 46.1% of features are compliance with minor improvement and 5.8% of features need major improvement. Moreover, Lective Gegulang was successfully implemented in Informatics Department, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, with all features was fulfilling all requirements needed.

Abstract

The fact that Gorontalo Province lies between Sulawesi Sea and Tomini Bay has undoubtedly resulted in its having abundant underwater tourist spots. However, the insufficient availability of fund has led to poor management of those spots. Given the insufficient fund the government has, it is important to give priority to certain spots. This study aims to determine the developmental priority of underwater tourism spots in Gorontalo using Analitycal Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Simple Additive Weighted (SAW). These methods use five criteria and 28 alternatives in determining the best priority in development of underwater tourism spots in Gorontalo Province. The result of AHP and SAW calculation showed that the best spot should be prioritized to be developed is Pulo Cinta whose score is 0,9888. This decision making method will help government, who has the final say in the issue, give priority to the best spot to be developed.

Abstract

In dynamic and wide networks, such as Metropolitan Mesh Network (MMN), routing becomes very complex because a packet can be blocked before it reaches its destination. In addition, users can also log in or log out from network topology. Therefore, a good routing algorithm, which is able to reduce time in network update process or when there is an error in the network, are required. Routing problems can be represented as the shortest path problem to facilitate completion. In this paper, a routing algorithm optimization using Adaptive Mutation Genetic Algorithm (AMGA) on MMN is presented by determining a probability of 0.000005782 at the beginning, with crossover probability of 0.000847, to reduce or avoid premature convergence.

Abstract

This paper aims to develop interactive media in the form of application of Applied Electromagnetics learning, based on Augmented Reality (AR) technology. This application is developed to visualize a point and vector in 3 dimensional coordinate system (3D) using marker and camera of Android smartphone/tablet. The system is able to visualize Cartesian coordinates, cylindrical coordinates, and spherical coordinates, points, and vectors into 3D form with optimal distance of 10--40 cm. Questionnaire results obtain MOS value of 4.31. This result suggests that learning integrated with AR technology can help improve understanding and stimulate students' motivation in exploring learning subject Applied Electromagnetics, especially the coordinate system.

Abstract

Determination of initial ability of examinees is one of the important stages in the adaptive assessment system. The accuracy of the examinee's ability level prediction will influence the appropriateness of choosen item difficulty level for each examinee. This paper discusses the patterns mining of cognitive ability based on cluster using K-Means. The K-means method is utilized to mine the examinees’ ability pattern from examinees’ pretest answers. The patterns are used for developing rules to determine examinee’s ability level in the adaptive assessment system. The addition of this method is proposed to improve the performance of the prediction methods to predict the examinees’ ability level. Extraction of graduation value at each level is done before the pattern excavation process. Patterns found become the basis of making the rules as well as replace the rules from the experts in previous studies. The prediction of participants' ability is done by implementing rule based method classifier. A total of 140 data were used for the experiment. Based on the results of the experiment, it can be concluded that the cluster-based pattern mining using K-means can be utilized to determine the cognitive ability level of examinee. The application of this method to student pretest data shows the performance improvement of all the prediction methods used in this paper, i.e. Naive Bayes, MLP, SMO, Decision Table, JRIP, and J48. This method is suitable for adaptive assessment system where the rules can be adjusted along with the addition of the number of the data as well as the addition of the number of variations in the ability pattern of examinees.

Abstract

This paper proposes the design of submersible electric motors for vessel's bow thruster. The advantages of the proposed design in comparison with a conventional electric motor are smaller diameter, without gear driven, better efficiency, low noise level, and minimizing oil leakage or more environmentally friendly. The proposed design has been manufactured and will be applied to navigation vessels. Simulation and factory acceptance test (FAT) results show that the proposed design has fulfilled the naval architect requirements and give better performance in comparison with conventional electric motor designed by NEMA standard's frame.
