Abstract

PT. Armada Internasional Motor (PT. AIM) is anautomotive company that has not only a sales division but also aworkshop division. There are some problems that occur in theworkshop division of PT. AIM, namely the ineffectiveness of datarecording of new customers for new services, as they are usingdesktop-based application, hence, the customers must come tothe office beforehand. Furthermore, the data of service needsand the Letter of Reparation Order by the Checker are notdirectly known since they are in the desktop-system located inthe office, and the Service Advisor (SA) cannot directly find outwhether the service has been completed or not because theChecker has to make a manual report to SA. From some of thoseproblems, it is concluded that a data recording system with theportable and efficient mobile technology is highly needed. Theresult of this study is an application of car service data recordingfor both the SA and the Checker. The system of car service datarecording applies Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) technology tofacilitate the delivery of notice to the SA and the Checker.

Abstract

Polytechnic Indramayu is a new Polytechnic established by the District Government of Indramayu based on the Decree of the National Education Minister of Republik Indonesia Number 124/D/O/2008 and District Local Regulation of Indramayu No.5 of 2008. In accordance with its mission to prepare graduates who are competent in their field, the selection process is required to capture prospective students and to prepare their ability to compete in the global market. The selection process is conducted based on several criteria including the score of test entrance, highschool certificate, academic and non-academic achievement, age, and parental income for determining who will be accepted as a student. Issues to be resolved through this thesis is how to design a web-based decision support systems and sms using Fuzzy Associative Memory (FAM) to determine who will be accepted as a student at Polytechnic Indramayu by grouping data into two categories of new students, accepted or not accepted. SMS Gateway in this study only run the process of sending data information of students who are accepted as a new student. Test is conducted using 20 samples of student data. The number of 20 applicants can be processed by decision support systems that are made and the announcement of the results of entrance examinations and the results of new admissions can be done more quickly in about one week.

Abstract

Transportation has important role in a country to support the economy. The lack of information about public transportation in a city causes some problems that must be faced by citizens. Some of this problems are: the citizens do not know the route of public transportation, they have to come to the station to check the train schedules, and they do not know the phone number of the taxi when they need it. This study aims to provide public transportation information system to solve that problems. The public transportation information system is built in multi platform mobile with HTML5 and Sencha Touch framework. Sencha Touch is used to build mobile application that able to run in some mobile platforms using PhoneGap technology. In addition, Sencha Touch has better graphics than other frameworks. The public transportation information system in this study helps the citizens to find the information about public transportation in Surakarta. This application runs in some mobile platforms, such as Android, Blackberry, iOS and Windows Phone.

Abstract

Basically, commutation process in a brushless DC motor needs rotor position information. However, to reduce production cost, in some specific applications such as fan or pump, the position sensors are not installed. It is possible to extract the rotor position through observing back emf signal available on the motor terminals. In this paper, implementation of a simple sensorless commutation controller algorithm for a BLDC motor is presented. The algorithm is implemented in a 16-bit digital signal processor (DSC). Experiment has shown that it produces correct timing signal to control BLDC motor from 1280 rpm up to over 3000 rpm.

Abstract

In this paper, an implementation of VoIP Services over WiMAX testbed based on IEEE Standard 802.16-2004 will be described. The quality of VoIP services over the proposed network is evaluated in terms of delay, jitter, packet loss, throughput, and Mean Opinion Score (MOS). The proposed network is implemented in both of the recommended network topologies that are point-to-point and point-to-multipoint. The VoIP Services is evaluated in the variation of background traffic with certain scheduling types. Background traffic is injected into the system to give the sense that the proposed system has variation traffic load. Scheduling types which are used in this paper are Best Effort (BE), Non-Real-Time Polling Service (nrtPS), Real-Time Polling Service (rtPS) and Unsolicited Grant Service (UGS). From the experimental results, it shows that VoIP services in P2P topology with UGS Scheduling has the minimum average of delay, jitter, packet loss is 12.688 ms, 7.472 ms, and 7.87%, respectively. Meanwhile, the highest MOS value of 3.39 is achieved when throughput equal to 134 kbps. Moreover, for VoIP Services in PMP topology has the minimum average of delay, jitter, packet loss of 12.872 ms, 7.222 ms, and 6.918%, respectively. The highest throughput of 133 kbps gives the MOS value of 3.52.

Abstract

One of the plants that is cultivated in Tomohon City is Chrysanthemum. Nowadays, the cultivation of chrysanthemum in a greenhouse is still using the conventional method where farmers are difficult to manage the process of watering and light, therefore, the efflorescence of chrysanthemum plants is disturbed. Based on that case, a control system is created using a microcontroller Arduino to adjust the temperature, humidity, light, and watering of plants in the greenhouse, and to monitor the system in a PC using Labview and TCP/IP. The results show that the system has been running according to the plan. Based on the temperature control set point, the valve will be "on" to distribute water and reducing temperature until valve will be “off” when the temperature set point is reached. Moisture control is tested when the heater is “on” and distributes steam in the greenhouse. If humidity is detected lower than the set point value, the heater will be “off”. Light control testing begins since the seed is planted up to 10 weeks by controlling the lights at the night and setting the RTC (Real time clock) for 4 hours (09.00 pm to 01:00 am).

Abstract

In this paper, a rectangular-shaped microstrip patch antenna at frequency 1575.42 MHz for GPS receiver applications is designed, fabricated, and evaluated. In order to produce circular polarization, dual-feed method is proposed. The dimensions of this antenna are: substrate length (Wg) 91 mm; substrate width (Lg) 90 mm; patch length (W) 62,5 mm; patch pidth (L) 47 mm; feed channel 50 Ω (w) 3,01 mm; and feed channel 100 Ω (w') 0,63 mm. The simulation result shows that at center frequency 1575,42 MHz, return loss has a value of -24.44 dB and VSWR 1,12. It was also obtained bandwidth 59 MHz with a frequency range from 1520 MHz to 1620 MHz. The antenna has a gain 3.514 dBi. The measurement results obtained VSWR 1,094 and return loss -26,998 dB. The center frequency was shift to 1574.52 MHz with VSWR 1,067 and return loss -29,566 dB. Additionally these antennas also have value in the -15 dB bandwidth of 9.3 MHz with axial ratio less than -3 dB. The axial ratio less than -3dB shows that this antenna has circular polarization.

Abstract

This research is intended to develop a speed sensorless induction machine model of wind turbine applications using vector orientation control method. This research is expected to use the results of previous research in induction motor applications, such as the development of adaptive vector control of sensorless induction motor for estimating the actual speed. The system in this paper consists of a wind turbine mechanical model, an induction machine model, and a vector orientation controller. The system is developed in S-Function C-MEX programs, and simulated using the MATLAB/Simulink. The system is tested in the condition that the wind speed and the reference rotor speed varies as step function. The results of the simulation show that the vector orientation controller is able to maintain the actual speed according to its reference, and the observer is able to estimate the actual rotor speed.

Abstract

This study designs a 1-phase permanent magnet generator with double-sided axial coreless 10 stator poles to get optimum output voltage and power. Permanent magnet generator is chosen because it does not require a DC excitation current and the maintenance is relatively easy, so it has potential to be applied on a low head pico hydro power plant. The design uses NdFeb (Neodymium-Iron-Boron) type permanent magnet. The study was conducted by simulation to get the flux density in the stator coil using FEMM 4.2 applications. Simulation is done with the air gap width varies from 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, and 5 mm. The depth of the magnet in the yoke varies from 0%, 5%, 10%, and 50% of the magnet thickness. Then, the flux density is used to estimate the output voltage and power of the generator. The results show that minimum output of 52.85 V and 195,56 VA is obtained at air gap distance of 5 mm and the depth of the magnet in yoke is 50%. Maximum output of 87,25 V and 322.84 VA is obtained at air gap distance of 2 mm and the depth of the magnet in yoke is 0% of the magnet thickness.

Abstract

Drainage is used to drain excess water, either from rain water or waste water. Currently, management and monitoring of drainage system is still done manually, therefore there are some lacks, for example: monitoring the condition of the drainage can not be performed continuously, requiring enough personnel to monitor all the drainage conditions, the data is not stored properly, and inability to know the condition of drainage quickly. Web-based monitoring application supported by informational dashboard is able to provide data and information on the condition of drainage system effectively and efficiently. The monitoring system is also equipped with map, so users can directly determine the current condition of each monitoring station through a two-dimensional visualization.
