Abstract

This article discusses the strategic role of academics in enhancing the socio-religious awareness of Hindu communities in Banjar Buana Sari, Stowe Brang Village, Sumbawa. The improvement of this awareness involves a youth engagement model through community service activities based on Balinese script literacy, strengthening educational motivation, and training in formulating the articles of association and bylaws of the sekaha teruna youth organization. These initiatives demonstrate a significant impact on the understanding, participation, and internalization of socio-religious aspects among Hindu adolescents. The methods applied include training, lectures, and hands-on practice. The results show an increase in Balinese script literacy skills, successful formulation of the articles of association and bylaws for the sekaha teruna, as well as openness toward improving educational awareness related to Hinduism. The impact of these activities includes a deeper understanding of Balinese script literacy, improved competency in developing organizational documents for Hindu youth groups, and greater awareness of the importance of youth education in creating a better future.

Abstract

The article aims to explain the relationship between Hindu religious insights and the diversity of socio-cultural backgrounds that must be understood in the context of Hindu religious counseling in society. This is closely related to the ability of Hindu religious counselors to deal with socio-cultural dynamics that also have an impact on the effectiveness of religious counseling. This study uses several literatures that provide an explanation of the importance of understanding the relationship between religion and socio-cultural society. The results of the study revealed that a deeper understanding of religion for a counselor positively correlates with the level of community understanding of religious values, while socio-cultural factors, including local traditions and social norms, play a key role in the process of religious counseling. A deep understanding of local culture allows religious counselors to design more contextual and relevant counseling programs for the community.

Abstract

This study explores the theological dimensions of Tantra in the Nusantara through a systematic literature review. Applying the PEOS framework and PRISMA guidelines, articles were screened from Google Scholar and GARUDA using the keywords “Tantra,” “Tantrayāna,” “Nusantara,” “ritual,” and “theology,” restricted to publications between January 1, 2020, and August 15, 2025. Four articles met the criteria for analysis. Results indicate that Tantric theology is reflected in the Śiva-Śakti principle, the body as microcosm, cosmic energy, and ritual instruments such as mantra, mudrā, and yantra. Integration occurred via symbolic assimilation, iconography, and daily practice. The study demonstrates that Tantra is not only an esoteric tradition but also a theological foundation shaping Hindu-Buddhist spirituality in the Nusantara.

Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of multicultural education in the tradition of the Topat War in Lombok, which involved Sasak Muslim and Balinese Hindu communities. The purpose of this study is to explore how the Topat War ritual functions as a means of teaching tolerance and interfaith solidarity in a multicultural society. The method used is a qualitative approach with interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The research findings show that the Topat Waris is not only a cultural ritual, but also a forum for multicultural education that strengthens interfaith relations through practices of cooperation and mutual respect. However, the application of these values to informal education is still limited. This article contributes by proposing a model of multicultural education based on local wisdom that can be applied in the formal education curriculum, connecting local traditions with social value-based education. The results of this study emphasize the importance of integrating multicultural education into the formal education system to create a more inclusive and harmonious society.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of rice as a medium of religious communication in Hindu Kaharingan rituals and the response of this belief system to individual limitations in accessing and providing ritual requirements. It employs a qualitative approach through library research with a descriptive-analytical method. The study addresses a gap in prior research that tends to separate religious, social, and economic dimensions, resulting in a fragmented understanding of rice within the Kaharingan symbolic system. The findings show that rice is not merely a material element but a sacred medium connecting humans with God (Ranying Hatalla Langit), whose meaning is socially legitimized and culturally transmitted. Ritual practices also reinforce social cohesion and collective identity. However, reliance on rice creates potential access inequality, particularly under economic constraints. Despite this, the Kaharingan belief system demonstrates adaptive capacity through collective mechanisms that sustain inclusivity and continuity. This study highlights that religious practices are shaped by dynamic interactions among sacred symbols, social structures, and economic realities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model of harmony between Hindus and Muslims in the implementation of rituals at Penataran Agung Dalem Jawa Temple, Bunutin Village. This study focuses on the implementation of religious rituals, the model of implementing Hindu and Islamic rituals, and the preservation of these ritual traditions in the midst of globalization. This research is designed in a qualitative descriptive type. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data was tested through source triangulation and method triangulation. The results of the study show that the harmony of Hindus and Muslims in Penataran Agung Dalem Jawa Temple is implemented through ritual practices in the shrine in the temple area and the taboo of using pork in certain rituals. The evolving ritual model shows the cultural acculturation between Balinese Hindu traditions and Islamic values without losing the identity of each religion. Religious rituals not only function as spiritual activities, but also as a medium of social integration and cultural communication of the community. The defense of Hindu and Islamic rituals in the era of globalization is carried out through the inheritance of cultural values to the younger generation, the consistent implementation of rituals, and the involvement of the community in traditional and religious activities. This study concludes that Penataran Agung Dalem Jawa Temple is a representation of religious moderation based on local wisdom that is able to strengthen social harmony in the midst of a multicultural society.
