Abstract

Culture is the whole complex which includes knowledge and belief, art, morals, law, customs, and habits acquired by humans as members of society. The Hindu Kaharingan community in Lamandau Regency has various kinds of religious rituals, including birth, marriage, and death. One thing that is very unique and there is a phenomenon to be studied in this research is that there is a tradition in the ritual of death called the Baadat tradition which is a tradition that can only be done by one family group who is Hindu Kaharingan only, and Baadat is only done when a family member died. This tradition is very unique in that it is a cultural hasanah or heritage from our ancestors which has a very high philosophical meaning when compared to other religious ritual traditions. Therefore, traditions like this must be preserved and maintained in their integrity even though they face various challenges and obstacles as a result of the impact of the influence on the entry of modern cultures that can change from the actual cultural order, especially in the Baadat tradition of death rituals.

Abstract

The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most important sacred texts of Hinduism. It contains profound spiritual teachings, including about the role and status of gods. The difference in the concept of gods in the Vedas and the Bhagavad Gita can be traced back to the difference in the concept of God in the two scriptures. In the Vedas, God is depicted as a transcendent being, who is outside the universe. Whereas in the Bhagavad Gita, God is depicted as an immanent being, who is present within the universe. In the Bhagavad Gita, gods are depicted as powerful and compassionate beings. They are the creators, preservers, and destroyers of the universe. Gods also play a role as spiritual teachers who guide humanity towards enlightenment. This article discusses the role and status of gods in the Bhagavad Gita. It discusses how gods are depicted in the text, and how they play a role in human life. The article aims to discuss the concept of gods in the Vedas, and to find explanations about gods, their role and status in the Bhagavad Gita. Based on the study, the concept of gods in the Vedas is different from the Bhagavad Gita. In the Vedas, gods are often equated with God, whereas in the Bhagavad Gita, gods are different from God. This difference is seen in the 39 verses of the Bhagavad Gita that deal with the role, status, and nature of the gods. This shows that the Bhagavad Gita teaches not only about the role and status of gods, but also about the nature of God itself.

Abstract

The views of several Hindu texts regarding the position of women are contradictory to the perspective of society, sometimes leading to criticism and unfavorable views on Hindu teachings. In fact, the status of women in the Vedic era was very special and noble but slowly degraded during the post-Vedic era and so on. This paper seeks to examine Vedic texts to provide an understanding of the position of women in the Vedic era in line with the demands of women's emancipation in modern times. The results showed that women, especially wives or mothers, were considered a symbol of the sanctity of the family and were highly respected because of their extraordinary role in continuing the family lineage, educating their children, practicing religion, and contributing to the development of the family and society. Kind, loyal, and well-educated personalities are the conditions laid down in the Vedic texts to actualize these roles. In terms of religious practice, women are positioned as central to the success of yajña.
