Abstract

The goal of this study was to find out if a student worksheet, which was based on project-based learning, was valid in terms of improving learning outcomes. Research and development (R&D) was employed as the method, which was carried out until the initial product design development stage. Purposive sampling was employed involving 22 students in class IV at SD Negeri 7 Metro Barat as the experimental class and 23 students in class IV at SD Negeri 3 Metro Barat as the control class. A validation questionnaire was utilised to collect data. The percentage method and descriptive analysis were utilised in the data analysis. The project-based learning student worksheet was declared valid to improve learning outcomes based on the results of an expert validation test (87.5%) on content, an expert validation test (80%) on construction, and an expert validation test (100%) on language. The implications of the findings are also discussed along with suggestions for further research.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to develop the domino game as a learning tool for Basic Spoken English students. The ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implement, and Evaluate) model was used for this investigation. This study was conducted in the English Department, with 30 students serving as subjects. These pupils were enrolled in a class called Basic Spoken English. The data collection instrument for this study was a questionnaire, a validation sheet, and an observation sheet. The validation was completed by subject matter experts and media specialists for learning and teaching English to determine whether or not the English Domino game can be used as a teaching and learning medium. The trial was done in a large group setting, with 30 students from STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo's English Department participating. The results indicate that the Domino game is an effective medium for teaching and learning to speak. The score for content validation was adequate, as was the score for media validation. Furthermore, the evaluation conducted by the lecturer of Basic Spoken English revealed that the English domino game was an excellent teaching and learning medium. Additionally, the observation score was 87.5, which is considered to be extremely good. As a result of the observation, it can be concluded that the developed Domino game not only encouraged students to be highly motivated to learn but also assisted them in improving their speaking abilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop a module of micro teaching-based technology for online learning for students at STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo and to analyze the module's validation and appropriateness for online learning. The development procedures for this research utilized a 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), as demonstrated by the validation analysis conducted with learning material experts, learning media experts, and students. The average score for all aspects combined is 82.6. It demonstrates an excellent category. This means that the microteaching module in online learning serves as instructional material for improving teaching ability through the use of technology. The microteaching online learning module is valid and appropriate for use.

Abstract

While writing is critical in education, it is a difficult skill to master. Reading is one of the many factors that affect writing. Numerous studies have established a link between reading and writing.  With that assumption, this study will examine the relationship between English reading habits and writing ability among students enrolled in the Advanced Writing Course at the English Language Education Study Program of Lambung Mangkurat University. This study adopted a quantitative approach and a correlational design, with students from batch 2018 as the research population. Using a simple random sampling technique, 50 students were randomly selected to serve as samples. A questionnaire was used to ascertain the students' reading habits, whereas a test was used to ascertain their writing abilities. Pearson Product-Moment Coefficient Correlation was then used to determine the correlation between the variables. The result showed that the correlation coefficient was 0.211 and the significance value was 0.141, indicating that H0 is acceptable because of the sig. value was ? 0.05. Therefore, there is a weak and negative correlation between students' reading habits and their writing ability. This occurred because many students with strong reading habits also have weak writing abilities, implying that the correlation between the two variables is weak.  It is suggested that students develop a reading habit by beginning with small steps such as selecting a short, easy-to-read book, setting small goals, making reading enjoyable, making reading friends, and remaining consistent.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a problem-based learning model for fourth-grade elementary school students in order to improve their communication skills. This is a research and development (R&D) project using a combined approach (mixed methods), specifically Borg and Gall research combined with ADDIE design development. The type of research that was conducted was True Experimental research with a post-test only control group design. Data collection techniques included tests and non-tests. The effectiveness of the problem-based learning model was determined through data analysis using the t-test. The results indicated that t arithmetic > t table (9.84 > 2.012) was rejected at a 5% significance level, while Ha was accepted and supported by observations of student communication skills in six lessons, which revealed an average of 80.07 percent of 24 students in the very good category. As a result, it can be concluded that the design model for problem-based learning is effective at improving communication skills.
