Abstract

Buku klasik Totality and Infinity An Essay on Exteriority tulisan Emmanuel Levinas menjadi buku pelengkap untuk memperkuat argumen mengenai martabat manusia.

Abstract

This study explores the theological meaning of the pedagogy of wisdom in the story of Solomon’s servants (1 Kings 10:1–13) as a model for developing service ethos and character in contemporary Christian education. Using a qualitative-descriptive method through theological hermeneutics, the research reveals that Solomon’s wisdom is not merely intellectual but relational and transfigurative, guiding humans into participation in the glory of God. The servants were praised not for external splendor but for their embodiment of divine wisdom through character and service. The findings propose a new paradigm in Christian education: shifting from a cognitive orientation to spiritual formation grounded in the theology of theosis. Thus, the Christian classroom becomes a space of transfiguration where both educators and learners grow together in the wisdom and character of Christ. This study highlights the importance of integrating theological dimensions into educational praxis so that character formation moves beyond morality toward divine participation.

Abstract

This paper is a contextual interpretation of John Locke's thoughts on political philosophy (democracy), which holds that a democratic climate will function well if it includes attention to human rights, upholding the freedom of every person, and the right to own property. These three elements represent concrete manifestations of a good democratic climate. The author will then use this perspective to interpret the constellation of democracy in Indonesia, with its various ongoing struggles. A good democratic climate will, in fact, support the prospects of Indonesia's demographic bonus. If not addressed, the democratic system, with its various problems, could pose a challenge in responding to the demographic bonus, especially the Dream of a Golden Indonesia 2045. Using a literature study method, we will examine Locke's political philosophy, the issues of democracy, and the demographic bonus in Indonesia. It is hoped that this study will make a valuable contribution to improving the quality of Indonesian democracy and how to address the demographic bonus.

Abstract

Abstract

The focus of this paper is to elaborate the contextual theology — specifically, the contextual Christology — of the Dayak Desa people as revealed through the Tolak Bala ritual. The Tolak Bala ritual, practiced by the Dayak Desa community in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, contains local wisdom concerning the protection of human life, salvation, and the relational harmony between human beings, the spiritual forces surrounding them, and the Supreme Reality (Petara). The methodology employed in this study is a critical reading within a synthetic/dialectical model. By using a critical reading of the Tolak Bala ritual data (collected through interviews and examinations of relevant anthropological studies), the author finds that the local wisdom of the Dayak Desa can illuminate and explain elements of the Catholic faith concerning Jesus the Savior in three aspects. First, Jesus the Savior can be understood as the integral Savior of the human person and all creation. Second, Jesus the Savior can be viewed as the Redeemer and Mediator who renews the relationship between humanity, creation, and God. Third, Jesus the Savior can be understood as the communal Savior of all members of the community.

Abstract

This article discusses the Hindutva issue that threatens pluralism and interfaith dialogue in India. Hindutva is a Hindu ideology in India proposed by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The purpose of this research is to critically analyze the biography, intellectual background, and how Sarvarkar expresses his thoughts. Hindutva is exclusive and legitimizes the practice of violence. The method used in this article is literature study with a focus on writings discussing Hindutva. The results show that Hindutva is an exclusive Indian nationalism with religions and cultures originating from outside Indian soil. This nationalist spirit has the potential to trigger radicalism similar to fascism patterns. This analysis emphasizes the need for religious moderation to avoid destructive radicalism that undermines interfaith dialogue.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the existence of Pantak in the religious system of the Dayak Kanayatn people as a spiritual bridge connecting humans with ancestral spirits. The focus of the study is to discuss the background of beliefs in Pantak, the process and types of its manufacture, the forms of rituals that accompany it, and the challenges of the sustainability of the Pantak tradition in the contemporary era. This research uses an exploratory study method with an interpretative approach, which integrates descriptive-ethnographic data and the author's cultural experience as part of the Dayak Kanayatn community. The results of the study show that Pantak was born from the belief in the continuity of the relationship between humans and ancestors after death, as well as the belief in Jubata as the source of life. This research confirms that Pantak is not just a cultural artifact, but a living religious symbol that is continuously negotiated amidst the dynamics and changes in religiosity, modern rationality, and social and cultural transformations of the Dayak Kanayatn people.
