Student engagement is a great factor that influences a good classroom culture and emboldens students to learn and thrive. Having a good classroom culture will help students learn the best of their abilities and increase their achievements. Utilizing a descriptive correlational approach, this study aimed to determine the degree of application of the three (3) pillars of student engagement and classroom culture of 332 randomly selected Junior High teachers. A validated and reliability tested questionnaire was used to gather the needed data from randomly selected respondents. Statistical tools used to analyze and interpret the data were frequency count, percentage, mean, t-test, analysis of variance, and Pearson r. The findings of the study revealed that respondents themselves perceived their application of the three pillars of student engagement and classroom culture as “very high” respectively. There was no significant difference in the degree of application of the three (3) pillars of student engagement when respondents were grouped according to their sex, age, and highest educational attainment, except in length of service. There was no significant difference existed in the level of classroom culture when Junior High School teachers were grouped according to sex, age, highest educational attainment, and length of service. Generally, the degree application of the three (3) pillars of student engagement is significantly related to the level of classroom culture. Thus, student engagement fosters positive classroom culture. It is therefore recommended that teachers should highly utilize student engagement such as cognitive, affective and creative into their teaching practices to promote positive classroom culture, an environment conducive to learning and self-development.

It also examined whether there was a significant difference in theextent of enablers and barriers among respondents. The researcher utilized a mixed-methodapproach, combining quantitative data from a researcher-made questionnaire that was carriedout with a sample population of 224 from the total of 506 educational leaders with qualitativeinsights from in-depth interviews using the method of Colaizzi (1978) with five participantsfollowing Dworkin (2019).Proportionate random sampling was employed to determine thenumber of respondents per school. Statistical tools used were frequency count, percentage, mean, T-test, ANNOVA and Spearman rank correlation analysis. The study found moderatedegree of competency barriers among leaders, but widespread enablers. The study identifiedthree primary enablers: dialogic interdependence, curriculum-driven leadership, and strategicaptitude. These enablers emphasize the importance of collaborative networks, continuouslearning, and goal alignment for effective leadership. However, the research identified twoprimary obstacles to competency: ideological deflection and structural drawbacks. Structuraldrawbacks include hierarchical structures and diverse cultural backgrounds, while ideologicaldeflection lacks self-discipline and goal orientation. Practical recommendations includecustomized coaching and mentoring programs, systemic interventions, and leadershipdevelopment focused on cultural competency. Abstract

The study aimed to determine the extent of budget allocation and the degree of budget utilization of schools in a province in the Philippines. The descriptive-correlational design was utilized to treat the data from the 175 employees composed of School Heads, Senior Bookkeepers and Disbursing Officers of Secondary Schools as respondents. This study was descriptive because it described the extent of budget allocation and the degree of budget utilization of schools. Likewise, it was correlational as it also tried to find out whether there was a significant difference in the extent of budget allocation when grouped according to their school location and school size; and whether there was a significant difference in the degree of budget utilization when grouped according to their school location and school size. Moreover, it was also correlational as it tried to measure whether there was indeed a significant relationship between the extent of budget allocation and the degree of budget utilization among the respondents. The results revealed that the extent of budget allocation was high. In terms of fixed costs, it was high and in terms of variable costs, it was average; and the degree of budget utilization as a whole and in terms of procurement and augmentation was high.  The results also showed that there was a significant difference in the extent of budget allocation and the degree of budget utilization when respondents are grouped according to their school size. Finally, the extent of budget allocation and the degree of budget utilization of schools in the Province of Capiz are significantly related and mutually dependent. The findings indicate an alignment of budgetary priorities with actual spending, highlighting a strategic approach to resource allocation. The significant relationship underscores the importance of coherent and targeted budgeting practices, contributing to efficient utilization of financial resources. Considering the study’s findings, it is recommended to implement a transparent and collaborative budgeting process, involving key stakeholders such as parents, teachers, and other partners. Moreover, to effectively track the utilization of funds, it is recommended to establish a reliable monitoring system of budget utilization. Lastly, to maintain transparency and accountability in the allocation and utilization of budgets, it is recommended regular audits be conducted regularly.

Abstract

The study investigated the level of digital transformation of schools and degree of digital readiness of teachers in the District of Sigma. The respondents of the study were 174 randomly selected elementary school teachers in the District of Sigma. The study used the descriptive-correlational research design. Data were collected using a validated and reliability-tested researcher-made questionnaire. Statistical tools used to analyze and interpret data were frequency count, percentage, mean, t-test, and analysis of variance, and Pearson r. The results revealed that the level of digital transformation of schools was high and the degree of digital readiness of teachers was to a certain extent. There was no significant difference in the digital transformation of schools as perceived by the teachers when they were grouped according to gender, age, highest educational attainment, number of years in service and monthly income. Moreover, there was no significant difference the degree of digital readiness of teachers when they were grouped according to gender, age, highest educational attainment, number of years in service and monthly income. The digital transformation of schools was found to be significantly associated with the digital readiness of teachers. The result indicated that the more digitally ready are the teachers, the more they will utilize their digital abilities in their classes. Hence, the school needs to provide them with the needed facilities like equipment, connectivity and instructional materials. Digitally ready educators perceive technology for all of its innovative potential, rather than something they are required to do in a step-by-step manner.

Abstract

The sense of loss is a universal human condition which does not exclude anyone regardless of demographics and societal roles. Despite numerous investigations with the sense of loss, there remains a gap in higher education institutions (HEIs) locally. Hence, this study attempted to explore the sense of loss among a purposive sampled tertiary students encompassing their academic, personal, and social life utilizing a phenomenological approach. Through interviews vis-à-vis the use of a validated semi-structured questionnaire with open-ended questions, the experiences of the participants were gathered, transcribed, thematically analyzed, and interpreted. Results of the study revealed the experiences which constitute the sense of loss are death, brokenness, rejection, and separation; the impact of loss in the participants’ academic life is brought about by lack of focus and interest, however a positive pursuit to education became apparent; given the negative disposition that is evident, there was a positive disposition among the participants despite the impact of loss in their personal life; in terms of the impact of loss to the participants’ social life, the occurrence of isolation and alienation surfaced, however, self-direction and support system emerged in the captured essences from the participants’ experiences; and, a simulacrum of the sense of loss among college students was developed. It is recommended that a supportive school mechanism be established through institutional services and programs juxtaposed with the sensitivity to issues of loss be manifested during curricular engagement. Further investigations should consider variances in research approaches to improve the understanding surrounding the phenomenon of loss. Â
