Abstract

This study aims to compare the exam results of paper-based and online-based assessments among vocational high school students majoring in Office Management and Business Services. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a post-test only control group design. Using purposive sampling, the study involved 32 tenth-grade students from the Office Management program as the experimental group and tenth-grade students from the Logistics Management program as the control group at Yogyakarta State Vocational High School. The results showed an average score of 65.16 for the experimental group and 68.97 for the control group. This indicates that students who took the paper-based exam achieved higher average scores than those who took the online-based exam. These findings provide empirical evidence that there is a significant difference between paper-based and online-based exam results among vocational students. The study also demonstrates that the choice of exam method has an impact on students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

Internships, learning achievement, and attitude are essential for every vocational high school student to enter the workforce in fields aligned by their competencies and areas of specialization. This study investigates the influence of internships and learning achievement on the work readiness of 12th-grade students at VHS YPI Darussalam 2 Cerme, with attitude examined as a mediating variable by 79 students. This study employed data collection through the distribution of questionnaires. The data analysis technique used was Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis by SmartPLS that includes measurement model testing (outer model), structural model testing (inner model), and hypothesis testing. The findings show that internships significantly enhance work readiness, particularly through the development of discipline, which emerged as the strongest indicator of internship quality. Learning achievement also demonstrates a strong direct effect on work readiness. This study underscore the need for vocational schools to integrate structured internship programs, strengthen academic learning practices, and promote systematic character development. Well-designed collaboration between schools and industry is essential to ensure that students acquire both technical competencies and essential soft skills. The study affirms that a combination of strong academic performance, meaningful internship experiences, and positive attitudes forms the foundation of students’ successful transition into the workforce.

Abstract

The digital era requires young people to be able to adapt to technological developments and emerging business opportunities. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media, digital literacy, and resilience on the interest in digital entrepreneurship among students at Surabaya State University. The research method used an associative quantitative approach with a sample of 225 students selected through proportional stratified random sampling. The research instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that social media had a significant negative effect on interest in digital entrepreneurship, digital literacy had a significant positive effect, and resilience has a significant negative effect. Simultaneously, the three variables have a significant effect with a coefficient of determination. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of digital literacy in increasing interest in digital entrepreneurship, as well as the need for productive use of social media and an understanding of the appropriate role of resilience in career decision-making.

Abstract

The rapid digitalization of administrative services in higher education has accelerated the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), fundamentally reshaping the competencies required of administrative staff. While previous research has largely focused on AI’s implications for teaching and learning, relatively little is known about how non-academic administrative personnel adapt to AI-enabled environments. This qualitative study explores the competencies needed by administrative staff to sustain accuracy, responsiveness, and accountability in an increasingly automated institutional landscape. Guided by Creswell’s qualitative research design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with administrative staff across multiple units in a higher education institution. Thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke’s reflexive approach generated four interrelated themes. Findings show that administrative roles have expanded beyond procedural tasks toward interpretive, supervisory, and evaluative functions, requiring staff to understand how AI systems operate, validate AI outputs, and intervene in cases requiring contextual judgment. Data literacy emerged as critical for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of institutional reporting, while human oversight was essential for maintaining ethical and contextually appropriate decision-making. Continuous learning—supported by structured training and organizational mechanisms—proved indispensable for sustaining these competencies. The study contributes to current debates on AI in higher education by highlighting the multidimensional and socio-technical nature of administrative competency in the AI era and offers practical recommendations for workforce development and institutional policy.
