Abstract

This study aims to describe financial literacy, use of technology and financial behavior with the performance of MSMEs Consumption Sector in Probolinggo City, with 51 MSMEs that have been operating 3 years to become a research sample. Data obtained from questionnaire were used combination of dichotomus and Likert scale to know level of financial literacy among SMEs owner in Probolinggo City, use of technology and financial behavior. The result of this study indicate that a medium level of financial literacy among SMEs owner in Probolinggo City. The MSME owners have not used technology maximally to help business activities. The MSME owners have shown responsibility of financial behavior so it can improve the performance of  MSMEs.

Abstract

The central aim of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of corporate bonds and government bonds against the stock price fluctuation in ASEAN-5 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore). Highlighting an important event of COVID-19, we investigate whether bonds provide protection by utilizing Q-REG method. The noteworthy finding is that bonds consistently act as a hedge for Malaysia and Philippines, while regarded as a diversifier for Indonesia’s capital market. However, this study observed that corporate bonds successfully become a strong safe haven for Thailand and Singapore capital market. Similar result was also found for Singapore government bonds which provides a valuable return during the pandemic of COVID-19.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between quality of work-life, perceived union effectiveness and job security with union commitment among bank employees in Malaysia. This study is motivated by the decline of union density worldwide in recent times. Indeed, the National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) has experienced a huge decline of membership, which may weaken and challenge the union to perform efficiently. Hence, this study examined the influence of quality of work-life, perceived union effectiveness and job security on union commitment. Survey questionnaires were distributed using simple random sampling to all five branches of the NUBE in Malaysia. The primary data were collected from 350 respondents and analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analysis. The findings of the study indicated that quality of work-life and perceived union effectiveness have positive and significant influences on union commitment. On the other hand, job security showed no significant influence on union commitment. Thus, representatives or the leaders in NUBE should focus more on the job insecurity of member in banking sector and should encourage the younger generation to participate in the union activities. Membership declining dilemma can be resolved by giving priorities to important issue such as job security among banking employees.

Abstract

Many restaurants and cafes use Social Media Influencer (SMI) services to promote their products/ services. The three dimensions of SMI include reach, relevance, and resonance; and these can influence brand awareness and purchase decision of generation Z consumers. This study involved 108 respondents and used SPSS and Partial Least Square (PLS) as data analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that reach, relevance and resonance of SMI have positive and significant influences on brand awareness. Reach has positive but insignificant influence on purchase decisions; whereas, relevance and resonance have positive and significant influences on purchase decision. Finally, brand awareness has positive but insignificant influence on purchase decision of Generation Z to restaurants and cafes in Surabaya.

Abstract

Global economy is suffering from a crisis due to COVID-19, during few months after the virus had begun to spread stock prices had been falling drastically all over the world. This paper aim to analyze what is happening to the stock market in Indonesia during the period of COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis will be done by looking at the historical data of several composite index from different sectors during the period of pandemic. We will take notes of important dates during this pandemic such as: first confirmed case, first death, work-from-home policy date, and other dates, to see whether these events can affect the index price during this pandemic by analyzing abnormal return on a certain period near those dates.

Abstract

This paper discusses the causal relationship between servant leadership, professionality, work culture, motivation, and the performance of Surabaya City government employees. One model is proposed to examine the role of motivation as a mediating variable in the indirect relationship of servant leadership, professionality, work culture and performance. The population is the government employees of Surabaya City. Analysis by SEM, on 290 respondents, using the convenience sampling method. The results show that the model is accepted, and also show that servant leadership, professional, and work culture has an effect on motivation. Servant leadership, work culture and motivation have an effect on employee performance. Motivation is a positive mediating variable in the relationship between servant leadership, professional, and work culture with performance.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the effect of different color scheme in perceptions and food product preference, product trial, and purchase intention. Using quantitative approach, the questionnaires data were cross tested by chi square and one-way ANOVA. The study found there were no significant differences between the price perception, the perceived quality, product preferences, product trial and intense to buy in the different color schemes, except white dominant color in perceived quality aspect. Respondents assessed the use of monochrome color schemes tended to have higher price perceptions and higher quality than white, yellow, analog, and complementary color schemes. It is expected to be a reference to provide an understanding of packaging design strategy especially food products by using color scheme. Keywords: Color scheme, packaging, product preference, perception, SME.

Abstract

The study intended to elaborate on the contribution of exhibitions and community for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This qualitative research employed a case study design, as the group of SMEs in Tangerang Selatan became the analysis unit. 25 SMEs, which are engaged in fashion, craft, and culinary participated in the study. The researchers obtained the data from observation, interviews, and document analysis. The research has revealed that participating in exhibitions brings an economic impact on their sales ranging from 20-80 percent. In terms of the involvement of the SME community, entrepreneurs obtained a lot of beneficial impacts on the improvement of their products as well. It implied the more exhibitions the more benefits SMEs obtain.

Abstract

As a world-class tourism destination, Indonesia is facing challenges in providing competent tourism human capital. Currently, the majority of tourism labor in Indonesia are low levels of education and only a few of them are graduated from higher education. Empirically, numerous studies suggest that many graduates from various tourism schools in several countries preferred to not opt for the tourism careers. This study aims to discover and analyze the perceptions and attitudes of final year students majoring in tourism and hospitality in Indonesia to pursue a career in the tourism industry. Using online distributed questionnaire through snowball sampling method, this study obtained 422 completed responses of tourism and hospitality undergraduates from Jakarta, Bandung, Lombok, Makassar, Palembang, Bali, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, and Batam. The collected data then analyzed by Importance Performance Analysis and cross-tabulation analysis. This study found that the career advancement and salaries were two factors in the industry considered as important factors but got a bad perception.  However, the nature of work of tourism industry which offering enjoyable and fun environment are considered important and earned positive perception. This study also presents some impli­cations, mainly for the tourism industry in Indonesia.
