Abstract

This research aims to design and build a security system at the Medan State Polytechnic Campus based on the Internet of Things (IoT) which is equipped with motion detection and remote surveillance features. The system is designed to improve campus security by utilizing sensor technology and internet connectivity that allows real-time monitoring. In this study, motion sensors were installed in strategic areas on campus to detect suspicious activity. The data from the sensor will be sent to the server and processed to provide notifications to users through the mobile application when unusual movements are detected. The system is also equipped with remotely accessible surveillance cameras, allowing users to monitor the situation on campus anytime and anywhere. Research methods include system design, hardware and software programming, and system testing to ensure its performance and reliability. The test results showed that the system could detect movement with high accuracy and send notifications in less than a second. The remote surveillance feature also works well, giving users direct access to view live video footage. The conclusion of this study is that the designed IoT-based security system is effective in improving the security of the Polmed Campus. It is hoped that this system can be widely applied in other educational institutions to support the safety of students and staff. This research also opens up opportunities for further development in IoT-based security technologies.

Abstract

This research aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based air quality monitoring system in the Medan State Polytechnic Campus. Given the importance of air quality for the health and comfort of the academic community, the system is designed to monitor air quality parameters such as PM2.5 concentration, CO2, and temperature in real-time. The developed system uses sensors integrated with microcontrollers and wireless communication modules to transmit data to the cloud platform. The collected data will be analyzed and displayed through a mobile application, which allows users to access air quality information at various locations within the campus directly. The test results show that the system can provide accurate data with a fast response rate, as well as the ability to identify patterns of changes in air quality. Feedback from users shows that this system is very helpful in raising awareness of the importance of air quality and its impact on health. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of an IoT-based air quality monitoring system in the Medan State Polytechnic Campus can contribute positively to maintaining the health of the academic community and supporting efforts to sustain the campus environment.

Abstract

This research aims to design and build an Internet of Things (IoT)-based gas leak detection system aimed at improving safety in the household environment. Gas leaks, which can potentially lead to fires and explosions, require quick and efficient detection. The developed system uses gas sensors connected to microcontrollers to monitor the concentration of hazardous gases, such as methane and propane, in real-time. Data from the sensor is sent via a wireless communication module to the mobile app, which allows users to receive instant notifications if a gas leak is detected. The test results show that the system is capable of detecting leaks with high accuracy and fast response times. Field trials also indicate that the system functions effectively in a wide range of environmental conditions. Feedback from users shows that the developed mobile app is easy to use and provides clear information about the status of gas leaks. This study concludes that IoT-based gas leak detection systems can be an effective solution to improve safety in households. It is hoped that this system can be widely applied to protect the public from the risk of gas leaks.

Abstract

Biannual preventive-maintenance results (2022 & 2024) for the 150 kV Tanjung Pura line bay circuit breaker at Pangkalan Brandan Substation confirm reliable performance. Offline tests with Kyoritsu 3125 (5 kV) and ISA CBA-2000/Megger evaluated insulation resistance, contact resistance, operating time and contact synchronization against SPLN 52-1:1984, KEPDIR 0520-2.K/DIR/2014 and OEM limits (≤120 % FAT, ≤120 ms for 150 kV). Insulation far exceeded 1 MΩ/kV: 315–428 GΩ (62 600–85 600 MΩ/kV) in 2022 and 181–190 GΩ (36 200–38 000 MΩ/kV) in 2024; the drop is within safe bounds and linked to instrument variance and insulator surface condition. Contact resistance stayed low at 36.0–38.7 µΩ (<40 µΩ), although resistive loss rose from 0.13–0.139 W to 0.435–0.468 W due to higher load current. Opening time was 37.3–38.9 ms and closing time 68.2–72.6 ms, both compliant. Contact synchronization measured 0.3–0.8 ms open and 3–3.4 ms close, well below the 10 ms limit. The breaker is operationally healthy. Recommendations: periodic instrument calibration, pre-test insulator cleaning, strict adherence to SOPs and safety standards, and improved crew coordination for future consistency and safety.

Abstract

The rapid growth of electricity demand demands an efficient and reliable electricity distribution system. Conventional distribution systems in Indonesia still face various obstacles such as high power losses, low supply fulfillment, and uneven network infrastructure. Smart grids are present as an innovative solution through the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) in distribution systems, which allows real-time monitoring and control of power flow. This study aims to examine the effect of smart grid implementation on the efficiency and efficiency of electricity distribution systems, as well as identify the challenges and benefits of implementing them in Indonesia. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature studies from various journals, technical reports, and related policies. The results of the study show that smart grids are able to reduce losses by 3–6% and significantly reduce SAIDI and SAIFI values. In addition, this system increases consumer participation through demand response and facilitates the integration of renewable energy. The main obstacles identified include high investment costs, limited regulations, and low public awareness of this technology. These findings are expected to be a reference in developing a more modern and sustainable electricity distribution system in Indonesia.

Abstract

The use of information technology in the world of education is very important to increase the effectiveness of academic services and the promotion of study programs. This research aims to design and build a website-based information system in the Philosophy Study Program, Panca Budi Development University. The method used is software development with an object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) approach, starting from needs analysis, design, and implementation to system testing. The results of the study show that the developed website is able to provide profile information, news, activities, galleries, and contacts online, making it easier to access information for students, lecturers, prospective students, and the general public. This website also functions as an effective digital promotional medium and supports the digitization of academic services in the study program environment. System testing shows a high level of user satisfaction with the ease of access and completeness of information.

Abstract

School libraries play an important role in supporting the learning process, especially at the elementary school level. As a learning resource center, the library provides a variety of reading materials that support the learning activities of both students and teachers. However, library management that is still carried out manually—such as recording book loans and returns using logbooks—often causes several problems, including recording errors, delays in data searches, and difficulties in report preparation. This condition requires a technology-based solution that can improve the efficiency and accuracy of library data management. This study aims to design and develop a web-based library information system to be used at SD Negeri 028303 Binjai Barat. The development method used is the prototyping model, which allows users to provide direct feedback on the early version (prototype) of the system being developed. This method was chosen to ensure the system truly aligns with users' needs in the field. The system includes key features such as user login, book data management, member data management, loan and return transactions, as well as automated transaction reporting. The implementation results show that the system functions well as expected. It is capable of speeding up library services, minimizing recording errors, and providing convenience for staff and students in accessing information. Therefore, the implementation of this web-based library information system can significantly improve the quality of library services and support a more effective teaching and learning process at SD Negeri 028303 Binjai Barat.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi telah mendorong berbagai sektor usaha untuk beralih ke sistem berbasis digital, termasuk dalam kegiatan penjualan, Toko Asia Fashion yang bergerak di bidang penjualan baju sebelumnya masih menggunakan sistem manual dalam proses transaksi dan kurang efisien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sistem penjualan baju berbasis website yang dapat membantu mempercepat dan mempermudah proses transaksi, pengelolaan data produk, serta pelaporan penjualan, Metode pengembangan sistem yang digunakan adalah model waterfall yang terdiri dari tahapan analisis, desain, implementasi, dan pengujian. Sistem dibangun menggunakan Bahasa pemrograman PHP dan basis data MySQL. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sistem yang dirancang mampu memberikan kemudahan bagi pelanggan dalam melakukan pemesanan produk secara online, serta mempermudah admin toko dalam mengelola stok barang, trasanksi, dan laporan penjualan.

Abstract

The development of information technology in the era of Industry 4.0 Revolution has driven digitalization in various sectors, including education. This study aims to design a prototype of an online attendance system based on the web as a solution to the problems of manual attendance systems still used in SMP Negeri 2 Tanah Jawa. The identified problems include the potential for data manipulation, lack of efficiency, and difficulties in managing and reporting attendance data. The method used in this study is Design Thinking, which consists of five stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. The design process was carried out using Figma, Balsamiq, and Canva software. The resulting prototype design includes features such as login, account registration, lesson schedule display, daily attendance filling, and student profile. The design results show that the system is able to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in the process of recording student attendance. It is hoped that this design will become the basis for the development of an online attendance system in reality and can support efforts to digitalize school administration. Further recommendations include integrating the system with notifications to parents and analyzing attendance data based on graphics for improved monitoring

Abstract

As technology rapidly advances, many business sectors are shifting to digital platforms, including the skincare industry. The aim of this study is to design and develop an effective and efficient website-based sales system for the Four Beauty skincare store. This system is designed to provide convenience for customers shopping online, while also simplifying inventory and transaction management for the store operators. The development approach used for this system is the Agile software development model, supported by technologies such as PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL for database management. The outcome of this development is an integrated online store website featuring various functions, such as a product catalog, payment system, and management of transactions and customer data, all of which enhance the overall digital shopping experience for customers.
