Abstract

A house garden is potential to be managed for thecultivation of vegetables for the fulfillment of nutrition and arelative reduction in the cost of living of poor families. Thecondition of the land and the limited knowledge and life skillsof the poor in the Maritengngae District, Sidrap Regency,became the main limiting factor for the use of the garden forcultivation. The Community Service-Learning and CommunityEmpowerment activity program (KKN = PPM) of UNMorganized program for target families to provide knowledgeand skills in the manufacture of organic fertilizers andcultivation of hydroponic systems. The goal was achieved byusing training methods, demonstration plots and mentoring.The activities that were realized included: a) increasedknowledge and skills of target residents in making organicfertilizer from household waste, and vegetable cultivation ofhydroponic systems; and b) fulfillment of the need for severaltypes of vegetables through utilization of the garden forcultivation. If this activity is sustainable and well developed,then the needs for the vegetable foodstuffs of the targetresidents will be fulfilled independently.

Abstract

Nutrition and health are important prerequisites forthe success of early childhood education. The nutrients arebrain-forming materials and other organs related to childdevelopment, and play a role in the formation of childimmunity. Whereas health is a guarantee for the continuity ofthe early childhood education process. This activity aims toprovide counseling to early childhood education teachers onhow to monitor or check children's health in general, andanalyze the nutritional status of early childhood based onanthropometric measurements (weight and height). Themethod used was direct observational nature that is natural andpleasant. In addition, the methods used were interviews andinteractive discussions between participants and theimplementation team and between participants andparticipants. The counseling participants were kindergartenteachers who are members of the Takalar District KindergartenTeacher Association and parents of Azzahra PAUDKindergarten children. Based on the results of monitoring bythe implementing team, it was found that the participants wereable to detect children's health status by recognizing physicalsigns of healthy children, and were able to assess thenutritional status of children by measuring and analyzinganthropometric status based on body weight and height. Theparticipants were very enthusiastic about participating in thisprogram. They were very active during the discussion sessionand they also attended the event until it was completed.Furthermore, some participants asked for additional time toobtain more information about children's health and nutrition.

Abstract

An athlete must have good stamina in supporting hisachievement improvement. Good stamina for an athlete can onlybe obtained if he consumes nutrients that are appropriate to theneeds of both during training and when competing. The body'sneed for nutrition is an absolute thing, nutrients needed tomaintain cell life in the body, both at rest and during exercise.All nutrients needed by the body are found in the food we eatevery day. The need for nutrients is absolute for the body to beable to carry out its normal functions. This energy is obtainedfrom the food eaten by a swimming athlete on a daily basis. Theright food will be able to produce good physical conditionsbecause the food will provide energy that is in accordance withthe needs of his body in his daily life.

Abstract

The problem faced by the farming community in theTugondeng Village, Herlang District, Bulukumba Regencywas that they did not have the knowledge and skills to processthe coconut shell. The coconut shell is abundant in Tugondengvillage area and it can be an alternative fuel briquette, whichhas high economic value. If this potential is managed properly,it will be able to lift the economy of the local farmingcommunity. The approach taken in this program was toprovide training in the form of lectures and directdemonstrations on how to process coconut shells intobriquettes, discussions and question, and answer sessions withthe community members regarding the things needed bytrainees related to the manufacture of briquettes, includinghow to market them. The PKM output is coconut shellbriquettes that can meet the fuel needs of the local community,and can even be exported overseas.
