Abstract

This study explores the impact of microteaching practices on EFL undergraduate students’ teaching skills and self-confidence in preparing to teach English to young learners (TEYL). Conducted with 12 participants enrolled in a TEYL course, the research applied a mixed-methods approach involving pre- and post-tests and thematic analysis of reflective journals. The teaching skills assessed included classroom management, instructional clarity, use of child-centered strategies, and the ability to actively engage young learners. Results showed a marked improvement in both pedagogical competence and confidence following a series of microteaching sessions. Statistical analysis using paired-sample t-tests confirmed significant differences between pre- and post-intervention scores. Qualitative data further revealed enhanced student awareness of effective TEYL practices and growing readiness for classroom teaching. The findings suggest that microteaching is a valuable pedagogical tool, not only for building instructional proficiency but also for developing the emotional and psychological readiness needed to teach young learners. This study highlights the need for experiential learning in TEYL teacher preparation programs.

Abstract

Self-confidence is one of the most essential qualities every individual should possess. A common issue observedtoday is that many adolescents still struggle with low self-confidence in their daily lives. One of the main causesof low self-confidence is the lack of attention to oneself, or in other words, the lack of self-love. Self-love playsa crucial role in enabling individuals to live their lives in a more balanced manner. Loving oneself means valuingone’s well-being and personal happiness. The method used to address this issue is a qualitative approach, inwhich data were collected through literature studies, observations, and interviews with both the target audienceand experts. The findings indicate that individuals with a strong sense of self-love tend to be more confident, less affected by others’ negative opinions, and more capable of facing challenges with conviction. However, selflove also requires support from the surrounding environment, or at least a source of motivation that helpsindividuals rise again. Therefore, an illustrated book on the theme of self-love was designed to provide insightsand enhance self-confidence through the practice of loving oneself. The book contains guidance and methods onhow to manage and cultivate self-love, as many people still lack an understanding of how to implement it intheir lives. Through these illustrations, it is hoped that individuals experiencing self-doubt can learn to applyself-love and overcome their lack of confidence.

Abstract

Although it is most usual to study the shared characteristics of community members, in this paper we instead emphasize the pluralism within a community. The framework within which we will proceed is Explorationism, a perspective that all our knowledge is (so far) less than certain, that all our knowledge is indeed (so far) only partial and only tentative. This perspective will help us better elucidate how pluralism in every community contributes to the community’s vitality and success.

Abstract

The focus of this paper is on the pivotal role of analytical thinking in student education, irrespective of the curriculum. Teaching analytical thinking is a vital instructional skill and a foundation of student learning. Instructors should be well-versed in teaching analytical thinking, as it forms the bedrock of critical thinking and problem-solving. Despite not being explicitly listed as one of the seven high-impact teaching practices in undergraduate education by Chickering & Gamson (1987), critical thinking and analytical thinking are frequently cited as Student Learning Outcomes in academic courses and programs in the United States (Grandinetti & Puncochar, 2019; Peñaloza & Puncochar, 2019; Puncochar, Barch, Albrecht, & Klett, 2018). University instructors often claim that they incorporate critical thinking into their teaching to improve student learning outcomes (Janssen et al., 2019). In 2014, Oceans of Data outlined the specific skills and knowledge required to compete in a big-data-centered economy. Analytical thinking ranked highest in both knowledge AND skills. The results were validated by nearly 100 data analyst peers (see Krumhansl, 2016). Although analytical thinking ranked higher than critical thinking in both knowledge and skills, this paper posits that analytical thinking is a necessary precursor to critical thinking and problem-solving.
