Abstract

Soybean meal is a source of protein that is commonly used for animal feed, however, the availability of soybean meal in Indonesia is still dependent on import so it is necessary to find the feed alternative for substitution of soybean meal. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the effect of black soldier fly (BSF) larvae meal for protein source to substitutesoybean meal on New Zealand White rabbit through the excreted ofcreatinine. The research was carried out usinga completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments werea complete feed with 100% soybean meal(T0), acomplete feed with 90% soybean meal + 10% BSFmeal (T1), acomplete feed with 80% soybean meal + 20% BSFmeal(T2), acomplete feed with 70% soybean meal + 30% BSFmeal (T3). The results showed that there was no effect of the BSF mealon the energy comsumption with an average 273.50 kcal/day and creatinine excretion (P> 0.05) with an average of 16.80mg/day atthe 6th week and 22.54 mg/day at the 10th week. Therefore, it can be concluded that theBSF larvae can replace soybean meal in the ration without negative effect on metabolismprotein rate of NZW rabbit. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of concentration of petung bamboo vinegar, kinds of varieties, and the interaction of both on the growth of shrub pepper cuttings. The study used a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three blocks. The first factor is the concentration of petung bamboo vinegar (Dendrocalamus asper) consisting of 0 ppm, 1.000 ppm, 2.000 ppm, 3.000 ppm, 4.000 ppm, 5.000 ppm, and 1.000 ppm Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) as a synthetic growth regulator. The second factor is kinds of varieties: Natar-1 and Ciinten. The results showed that the use of petung bamboo vinegar for 5.000 ppm produces the highest number of leaves, fresh weight of shoots, and dry weight of shoots on Ciinten variety, while the Natar-1 variety with concentration of petung bamboo vinegar for 3.000 ppm obtained the highest fresh weight of shoots and dry weight of shoots. Ciinten variety obtained the highest results on shoot height, number of leaves, longest root length, number of roots, fresh weigh of shoots, dry weight of shoots, fresh weight of roots, and dry weight of roots. The interaction between the concentration of petung bamboo vinegar and kinds of varieties has no significant on all observed parameters. The use of petung bamboo vinegar at 3.000 ppm for Natar-1 and 5.000 ppm for Ciinten can replace the role of IAA growth regulator at concentrations of 1.000 ppm. Keywords: Dendrocalamus asper, bamboo vinegar concentration, Piper nigrum L., shrubs pepper cuttings, varieties.

Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L) are a horticultural plant commodity that has high economic value and is widely consumed by humans as a mixture of cooking spices after chili. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of spacing on the growth of bima variety (Allium ascalonicum L) and the best distance to increase the growth and yield of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L) bima varieties. The method used in this study was a randomized block design (RBD), with four replications and five treatments, namely, JT1: 15 cm × 15 cm, JT2: 20 cm × 10 cm, JT3: 20 cm × 15 cm, JT4: 20 cm. × 20 cm, HH5: 20 cm × 30 cm. The observation variables included plant height and number of leaves aged 4 mst and 6 mst, number of tubers per plant, tuber wet weight per plant, tuber wet weight per bed, and tuber dry weight per plant. The results of this study showed significant effect on the number of shallots aged 6 mst, the number of tubers per plant, tuber wet weight per plant, tuber dry weight per plant, and tuber wet weight per hectare. But not significantly different from the height of shallots aged 4 mst and 6 mst, and the number of shallots aged 4 mst and 20 cm x 20 cm (JT4) planting distance is the best planting distance in increasing the growth of 6 mst onion leaves (6 24.11 strands) and tuber wet weight per bed (1.92 kg / bed). Abstract

Population growth will be followed by the fulfillment of a residence or settlement so that it will trigger a land conversion. Land conversion or land conversion is defined as a change in the function of part or all of the land area from its original function (as planned) to other functions that have negative impacts (problems) on the environment and the potential of the land itself. According to BPS (2001) in a period of 7 years (1993-2000) there was a reduction in Indonesian agricultural land by 710,000 ha or 56.167 ha per year. As the population in Indonesia increases, it is followed by a decrease in the area of agricultural land due to the process of land conversion to meet residential needs. Land conversion that is carried out directly or indirectly, can be temporary or permanent, can be in the form of gradual conversion with a sporadic pattern, systematic conversion with an “enclave” pattern, land conversion in response to population growth, conversion caused by social problems, conversion without burden and Agricultural adaptation conversion Land conversion is influenced by external factors including economic, socio-cultural, increasing population and regulations, while internal factors such as less productive land and economic pressure from farmers. Conversion of agricultural land has a positive impact in the form of increased investment in the non-agricultural sector but has a negative impact on threatening national food security and decreasing environmental quality. Abstract

Garlic (Allium sativum L) is a horticultural product that can easily be damaged if not handled properly. Damage that usually occurs in garlic includes softening of tubers, wrinkles, empty tubers, rot, sprouting, root growth and mold growth. Some of the familiar storage methods used by farmers include storage using pesticides and fumigation, while storage with ozone has only been introduced to farmers. Most of the farmers (84,44%) gave high perceptions of garlic storage technology using pesticides, 78.05% of farmers gave high perceptions of garlic storage technology with smoking and 60.25% of farmers gave moderate perceptions of garlic storage technology with ozone. In terms of ease of application, all farmers assessed storage with pesticides as easy to apply, storage with fumigation 96.77% of farmers considered it easy while the majority of farmers (63.33%) considered storage with ozone difficult to apply. This means that the majority of respondents are not too interested in using ozone technology for storing garlic. Ozone technology required a large investment to make closed storage without ventilation so ozone can work optimally, while now farmer's storage still simple and open. Keywords : garlic, ozon technology, perception
