Abstract

According to WHO, reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not just the absence of disease or infirmity in all matters relating to the reproductive system and its functions and processes. Narcotics is an abbreviation for narcotics, psychotropic substances and other addictive substances. Narcotics are substances or drugs derived from plants or non-plants, either synthetic or semi-synthetic, which can cause a decrease or change in consciousness, loss of taste, reduce or eliminate pain, and cause dependence. This activity aims to implement health promotion and preventive efforts based on collaboration between professions regarding the provision of health education on the impact of drugs on adolescent reproductive health. The methods used are preparation stages, implementation stages, and activity evaluation. The result of implementing this activity was an increase in teenagers' knowledge and attitudes about the impact of drugs on reproductive health from not knowing to knowing. It was concluded that there is a need for regular outreach and involvement in many communities, health cadres, and schools. Through increasing this knowledge, it is hoped that teenagers can take preventive and proactive steps in preventing the dangers of drugs to health. This holistic approach involves collaboration with health workers, exploring local resources, and ensuring social support to support efforts to prevent and abuse drugs.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and heart disease continue to increase in Indonesia, threatening public health and adding to the country's economic burden. Efforts to control NCDs require an integrated approach, one of which is through community service programs that focus on communication, education, and information (KIE). This community service program aims to increase public awareness and knowledge about NCDs, especially diabetes mellitus, by involving various parties, including academics, health workers, and local communities. The methods used in this program include health counseling, campaigns through social media, and interactive training in various villages and sub-districts. The results of this program show a significant improvement in public understanding of risk factors, early signs, and NCD prevention measures. The active participation of the community in this activity also strengthens collective awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and regular health checkups. This program has succeeded in having a positive impact on efforts to prevent and control NCDs in the community. The recommendations of this program include expanding the reach of KIE activities, wider use of information technology, and continuous collaboration between various sectors to create a healthier society.

Abstract

The increasing number of older adults in Indonesia demands more attention to efforts to optimize their health. The elderly are susceptible to various chronic and degenerative diseases that can reduce the quality of life. Therefore, a comprehensive approach through screening and health education is urgently needed to improve the health status of older adults. This community service aims to conduct health screenings and provide health education to older adults in certain areas. The methods used include basic health checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and body mass index (BMI), as well as counseling on healthy lifestyles, nutrition, and the importance of physical activity. The results of this activity show that many older adults are not aware of their actual health conditions. Through screening, several cases of hypertension, diabetes, and obesity were found that required further treatment. In addition, the health education provided is able to increase the knowledge and awareness of older adults regarding the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This community service concludes that the combination of screening and health education is effective in detecting health problems and increasing the awareness of the elderly about the importance of prevention and early treatment. Recommendations for similar programs in the future are to expand the reach of activities, strengthen collaboration with local health facilities, and develop more comprehensive educational materials

Abstract

Stunting is a significant public health problem, especially among toddlers, caused by chronic malnutrition and suboptimal parenting. This community service program aims to overcome these problems by providing relevant education and interventions to mothers of toddlers who experience stunting. This program aims to improve the knowledge and skills of mothers under five in terms of parenting and healthy nutrition, as well as encourage behavioral changes that support optimal child growth and development. This program is carried out through a series of educational activities, including training on balanced nutrition, how to serve nutritious food, and parenting techniques that support children's health. In addition, this activity also involves direct counseling and the provision of educational materials that are easy to understand by mothers of toddlers. The evaluation was carried out to measure the improvement of parenting knowledge, skills, and practices and their impact on the nutritional status of children. Early results showed a significant increase in maternal knowledge about the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy parenting. Practical skills in the presentation of nutritious food have also improved. Further evaluation showed that there was an improvement in the nutritional status of toddlers and a decrease in the prevalence of stunting in the target community. This community service program has succeeded in improving parenting and healthy nutrition knowledge for mothers of stunted toddlers. This intervention is expected to be a model for similar programs in other regions and make a positive contribution to reducing stunting rates more broadly

Abstract

Aging brings various health challenges, including hypertension and diabetes mellitus, which can affect the quality of life of the elderly. This study aims to identify the prevalence of these two diseases in Kepatihan Village, Kaliwates District, Jember Regency, and evaluate the effectiveness of health education in managing them. Community service activities include initial examinations that show a high prevalence of hypertension and prediabetes among the elderly, with only a few having normal blood pressure and blood sugar levels. The program involves health examinations, disease prevention and control education, and re-examination two weeks after the education. The results showed that older adults with normal blood pressure increased from 3 to 8 people, and regular blood sugar levels increased from 5 to 21 people. A significant decrease in cases of prehypertension and diabetes indicates the success of the education in increasing participants' awareness and knowledge about managing their health. However, high initial health conditions and limited resources remain barriers. This program shows the effectiveness of education in reducing the prevalence of non-communicable diseases among the elderly but requires continued efforts to support more sustainable health improvements

Abstract

Stunting is a condition in which a child has a lower height than their standard age, which can be caused by chronic malnutrition. This community service aims to educate children about balanced nutrition to prevent stunting. The methods used in this program include direct counseling, distribution of informative brochures, and demonstrations of the presentation of nutritious food. The target of the program is parents, especially mothers who have children under the age of five. The activity results showed increased participants' knowledge and awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition in child growth. The conclusion is that this community service program has succeeded in increasing public understanding and awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition in preventing stunting in children. This can be seen from the increase in the participants' knowledge about balanced nutrition and the steps that must be taken to ensure that children get enough food. In addition, this program has also succeeded in encouraging behavioral changes in the diet of participants' families, which is expected to contribute to reducing stunting rates in the area. With continuous education and support from various parties, it is hoped that stunting prevention efforts can run more effectively and children can grow healthy and optimally.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the cancers that has a high prevalence in women, especially in childbearing age. Early detection through Visual Inspection of Acetic Acid (IVA) is an effective method to reduce the incidence and mortality rate due to cervical cancer. This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to increase the knowledge of women of childbearing age about the importance of early detection of cervical cancer and facilitate IVA examinations for them. The methods used include health counseling through interactive lectures, distribution of educational materials, and the implementation of free IVA examinations. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge about cervical cancer and the importance of early detection. In addition, enthusiasm and participation in IVA examinations increased, with more than 80% of participants attending undergoing examinations. This activity is expected to contribute to reducing the incidence of cervical cancer through preventive and educational efforts. A continuation of this program is the establishment of support groups in the community that will continue to promote reproductive health and early detection of cancer.
