Abstract

The Enhancement of Students' Cognitive Learning Achievement Through Contextual Learning Model on Multiplication and Division’s Matter. This research was based on the number of students who produce the resuits of cognitive learning under minimal mastery. The purpose of this research was to improve student cognitive learning outcomes and improve the learning process by applying the contextual learning model. The approach used in this research was descritptive qualitative approach with classroom action research method consisting of two cyeles. Subjects in this researchwere the students of elementary school  classs III 48 Lepung Beruang were 43 students who taught  by the modeling of contextstual. The instrument for measuring cognitive learning outcomes. The data obtained were analyzed by using desctiptive whit mean and Classical completeness value. The result of descriptive analysis shows that in cycle I, the result of 29 students is complete with an average of 66,00 and classical completeness of 67,44%. Furthermore, in cycle II, students who complete 37 students with average of 78,60 and classical completeness of 86,04% of students into good category. The results of this study can be concluded tahat the modeling of use can improve student learning outcomes on mathematic materials.Based on, the result of the teacher activity observation has been received 60% the first meeting, 65% the second meeting on the first cycle, meanwhile  on the second cycle at the  first meeting has got constantly becoming increasing 100%. The results of this research can be concluded that the use of contextual learning can improve the cognitive learning outcomes of students in multiplication and division material and improve the learning process of learning

Abstract

The Application of the ELPSA Framework Assisted by Game in Teaching Exponential. There is still a tendency for students to avoid mathematical assignments is a challenge for educators. Therefore, to present interesting and quality mathematics learning, one of them can be through the ELPSA framework. ELPSA framework is a mathematical learning approach that contains five components, namely experience, language, pictorial, symbolic, and application. The game was chosen to present training as a part of symbolic component that attract students. This study aims to determine the mastery of student learning through the application of the ELPSA framework assisted by games on exponential material, student responses to the learning activity, and the dynamics of students' emotional activity in game utilization. This research use mixed method with convergent parallel mixed method design. The instruments used were learning outcomes tests, student response questionnaires, and observation sheets of student emotional activity. The study population was all students of MTsN 1 Aceh Tengah, and the sample was 17 students of class VIII-1. Based on the results of data processing using the t test, it can be concluded that the value of students reaches completeness. In addition, students respond well to learning and the use of games. Observation of the emotional activity of students during play shows the seriousness is dominating the emotional activity that arises, followed by pleasure, and curiosity. Whereas signs of boredom and disappointment do not arise. This study presents alternative mathematical learning designs to achieve learning goals, as well as attracting students.

Abstract

The Implementation of Spot Capturing Learning Methods in Global Warming Materials to Improve Science Process Skills. This research aims to determine the implementation of Spot Caturing learning methods and to know the improvement of the student science process skills after the use of Spot Capturing learning methods on global warming topic. This study uses one group pretest - posttest design where the subjects in this study were a class of students from Department of Science Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Lamongan Islamic University in the first semester of the 2018-2019 academic year. Research data is obtained through observation methods and tests and then analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The results of the study showed the level of implementation learning using spot capturing method of study at the first meeting average score 3.8 with excellent criteria, second meeting average score 3.8 with excellent criteria and the third meeting of the average score 3.9 with excellent criteria. The results of N-gain calculations on the science process skills showed increases with the medium category on the aspect of formulating issues with score 0.6, compiling hypotheses with score 0.4, and identifying variables with score 0.6, whereas aspects high category N-gain is there is observing aspect with score 1.0, communicating the data with score 0.7, and concluding the data with score 0.9. These results show that there is increases in the science process skills of student using the Spot Capturing learning method.

Abstract

The Implementation of Small Group Discussion Learning Methods to Improve Learning Outcomes and Student Activity. This study aims to improve the learning outcomes and activeness of STKIP Paracendekia NW English Language Education students in the Basic Natural Sciences (IAD) course through the application of small group discussion methods. Student cognitive learning outcomes are still low, so it is necessary to apply new methods in learning. The activity in this research includes activeness in asking questions, answering questions, discussing, and presenting. This research is a classroom action research with two cycles. Stages of research include planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 55 students of STKIP Paracendekia NW Sumbawa English Language Education semester I (one) in the Basic Science (IAD) course. Data collection techniques are tests (pretest and post test) and non-tests (observation). The result of this study were an increase in student learning outcomes and activity. Learning outcomes can be seen from the value of the pretest and post test. The average value of pretest and post test in cycle I is 65,22 and 70,67. Cycle II, the average value of the post test is 85,34. Student activeness before the action in only 15 active students. After being given the action, in the first cycle, students were activein asking, answering questions, discussing, and presenting 30 peoples. In cycle II, active students reached 42 peoples.

Abstract

The Validity of the Inquiry Model Intervened by the Reflective Process to Facilitate Preservice Teachers' Critical Thinking Ability. Critical thinking has become the main competency of 21st century learning and encourages the development of learner critical thinking at the higher education level regarded as an important outcome of education. This study develop an inquiry learning model which are intervened by reflective processes in their teaching, or in its development called Reflective-Inquiry Learning (RIL) Model which is specifically aim to improve critical thinking ability of preservice teachers. This research is the first step in development research in which the RIL model developed was constructed based on theoretical and empirical studies so that it gave birth to a hypothetical framework of the RIL model itself. The RIL model product was then validated by involving 7 experts as validators through the focus group discussion (FGD) mechanism. Validation aspects include content validity and construct validity. The data from the validation of the model were analyzed descriptively by averaging the results of validation. The validation results of the RIL model show that the validity level (Va) of 4.28 in a very valid category. Whereas Va in the content validity and construct validity aspects are 4.26 and 4.32, both in the very valid category. The hypothetical framework model developed based on the conceptual frame and the results of its validation is provided in this article.

Abstract

Improving Students' Mathematical Understanding Ability through Formulate-Share-Listen-Create (FSLC) Cooperative Learning. The aim of this research is to examine and to describe improvement in students' mathematical understanding ability using cooperative learning of Formulate-Share-Listen-Create (FSLC) type. The study was conducted at the Mathematics Education Study Program of Galuh University on Level I students of the 2018/2019 Academic Year. The research method used is Quasi-Experiment. To get the research data, the instrument was used in the form of a test of mathematical understanding ability. Data analysis was performed on data n-gain to see the difference improvement in mathematical understanding ability. The results of the research showed that the improvement in students' mathematical understanding ability between students using cooperative learning of Formulate-Share-Listen-Create (FSLC) type was better than students who used conventional learning.

Abstract

The Effectiveness of the Application of Basic Physics Learning Devices Based on Critical Thinking Skills Using the Edmodo Platform on Android. The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of the application of basic physics learning devices based on critical thinking skills using the Android platform Edmodo application. This research is a pre-experimental study with the research design used namely One Group Pretest Postest Design. The research subjects were 16 second semester students of the 2018 - 2019 academic year STKIP PGRI Mathematics Education Study Program Bangkalan subject matter of temperature and heat. The results of critical thinking skills at the pretest and posttest experienced a significant increase having N-Gain 0.6 in the moderate category. The results of the positive student responses to learning questionnaires were 86.4%. It can be concluded that the application of basic physics learning devices based on critical thinking skills using the android platform EDMODO application can improve students 'critical thinking skills and students' positive responses to learning so that they can be said to be effective.

Abstract

Development of Exploratory Student Worksheets Based on Banten Cultural Context in Mathematics Subjects in Elementary Schools. The purpose of this research to describe the development and feasibility process of the student worksheets based on Bantenese culture, to know the student’s understanding after using student worksheet in the topic of geometry especially volume. This research is the research and development (RnD) using 4-D models (Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination). The subject of this research was the fifth-grade students of SDN Serang 3 consist of 20 students. The data in this study were collected using the questionnaire and test. Based on the results of this research obtained a score with a percentage from content experts 84.16% with very feasible categories, from media experts 85.83% with very feasible categories, 79.99% from linguists expert with feasible categories, 99.33% from user responses with very good categories and 86.75% the test results with very good categories. The results of this research indicate that the product can be interpreted to be effective in increasing students' understanding of the geometry topic, especially volume.

Abstract

Improving Students' Learning Outcomes on Social Arithmetic Material Through Teams Games Tournament Learning Model. This study aims to describe the TGT learning steps that can improve the learning outcomes of social arithmetic material in class VII of PGRI 01 Singosari Middle School. This research is qualitative research with a type of classroom action research (CAR). Data sources were students of class VII D SMP PGRI 01 Singosari as many as 27 students. The procedure for collecting data in this study are (1) Observation, (2) Tests, and (3) Documentation. Stages of data analysis include reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Examination of the validity of the data used includes (1) persistence of observation, (2) triangulation, and (3) peer examination. The results of the study showed an increase in teacher and student activity from pre-action to action I and action II. The observation results of teacher activities in action I reached a percentage of 86.23%, in action II, it increased to 95.45% with a very good category. Furthermore, the observation results of student activities in action I reached a percentage of 79.3% and in action II, it increased to 91.73%. The percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes in pre-action was 40.74%, the percentage of completeness of action I was 66.67%, and the percentage of completeness of action II was 85.18%. Thus the increase in learning outcomes from the action I to action II is 18.51%.

Abstract

The Effects of Conflict Cognitive Strategy in Inquiry-Based Learning Model on Students' Critical Thinking Ability. Critical thinking has become a very important part of learning at all levels of education, and learning based on inquiry activities is recommended as a teaching foundation for practicing critical thinking. Generating learners' prior knowledge in inquiry activities is needed with cognitive conflict strategies, and theoretical studies show that cognitive conflict strategies can improve learners to think critically. This study aims to determine the effect of cognitive conflict strategies in scientific inquiry learning on improving the critical thinking ability of physics prospective-teacher. This research is an experimental research (weak experimental research) with the design of "one group pretest-posttest design" with a sample of 21 physics prospective-teachers at IKIP Mataram. Critical thinking ability were measured using a critical thinking ability test instrument. Data on critical thinking ability were analyzed descriptively and statistically, where homogeneity, normality, and t-test were used. The results showed that the implementation of cognitive conflict strategies in inquiry learning models had an impact on critical thinking ability of physics prospective-teacher. Descriptions of the results of further research are described in this article.
