Abstract

In theory, a scientific stratification (branches and disciplines) is frequently associated with the effectiveness of research groups but not professional mobility and other psychosocial factors. The study analyses the relationship among the organisational cultures specific to each field of speciality (human-social sciences versus exact-natural sciences), the satisfaction of researchers and the homogenisation of psychosocial behaviours with the mediation of the professional mobility variable; that is to say, the construction of organisational/disciplinary identities within the scientific system. Quantitative and qualitative techniques were used. Among the first, two questionnaires were used; among the latter, we used non-obstructive observation and interviews. This research concluded that Scientists' psychosocial responses and achievement levels vary according to their speciality areas, highlighting distinct disciplinary and organisational cultures within the scientific community. Dissatisfaction with team leadership is widespread across scientific disciplines, driven by factors such as effort, expectations, and societal influences, necessitating the development of transformative competencies, particularly leadership skills, to address these issues and promote well-being among scientists.

Abstract

First-year students face experiences in the primary adjustment stages with their transition to pre-university enrollment, and the experiences are typically highlighted as challenges that will be concentrated significantly in this systematic literature review. This systematic literature review critically synthesizes 20 published articles from 2014 to 2023 on the academic adjustment of first-year students in Cambodian higher education institutions. The qualitative study methods and exploratory design are used, and researchers compiled and evaluated relevant literature focusing on challenges faced by first-year students, factors influencing adjustment, strategies for academic adjustment, and outcomes of adjustment interventions. Data were gathered from reliable databases, and articles meeting predefined criteria were subjected to thematic analysis using Clark and Braunne's Thematic Analysis model. Findings highlight first-year students' challenges, such as academic performance, social identity issues, financial constraints, and language barriers. Factors influencing adjustment include social, personal-emotional, and institutional aspects, underlining the significance of social support and coping strategies. Strategies for academic adjustment focus on effective time management, utilizing support services, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Intervention outcomes aim to enhance first-year students' retention rates, mental health, and academic success. Qualitative research emerged as the predominant approach, enabling researchers to understand nuanced experiences and perspectives.

Abstract

English holds paramount significance as a global language, widely employed by diverse nations, including Cambodia, where it functions as a foreign language. Particularly in Cambodia, English has become indispensable for tertiary education. Employing a mixed methods approach, this study surveyed 183 university students, with ten subsequently participating in voluntary interviews. The findings indicate that students predominantly exhibit extrinsic motivation in their approach to English reading, with no discernible variance based on gender. The research also proposes several strategies for educators to enhance students' reading motivation, identifying the strategy of having students explain their comprehension to others as particularly efficacious. The study underscores the significance of English reading and elucidates the challenges students encounter in related activities. Ultimately, the study advocates for future investigations with larger sample sizes to further enrich scholarly insights.

Abstract

This literature review critically assesses the pros and cons of self-study and self-management, shedding light on their impact on individual learning. The self-study provides flexibility, allowing undergraduate students to customize schedules and fostering autonomy and motivation. However, challenges like maintaining discipline and overcoming isolation are recognized. The review explores psychological benefits, such as improved time management and enhanced problem-solving, alongside drawbacks like procrastination. Affective self-management activities, including goal-setting and active learning, emerge as crucial for self-study success. Future research suggestions include exploring the role of emerging technologies, studying cultural factors, and proposing longitudinal research to assess the sustained effects of self-management activities.

Abstract

This study examines the intrinsic motivation level of academic staff at Svay Rieng University (SRU) and its relationship with job satisfaction. To understand what keeps these academicians from doing what they do, it is essential to research to establish the level by which achievement, recognition, work itself, responsibility, advancement, and growth intrinsically motivate them as they dispose of their daily functions as academic staff. A quantitative survey was conducted on 91 SRU academic staff. The main findings revealed a positive and significant correlation between intrinsic motivation and job satisfaction. The staff members exhibit high intrinsic motivation, but variations exist across different aspects of their work. They express a need for increased recognition and praise. To enhance intrinsic motivation and job satisfaction, it is recommended to implement recognition and reward policies, provide professional development support, and foster a supportive work environment. Involving staff in decision-making, conducting research-driven policy development, and monitoring and improving the work environment are vital. Additional measures include implementing flexible work policies, establishing regular feedback systems, creating recognition programs, and developing learning and development policies. Future research should explore the relationship between intrinsic motivation and other outcomes.

Abstract

This research is intended to prove that Problem-Based Learning can develop the writing skills of grade VII students of MTs Al-Khairaat Tondo. The study employs a quasi-experimental research design to assess the impact of PBL on students' abilities in writing procedure text. The researcher chose VII B and VII C Class as the sample for the study by using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed statistically to determine the significant difference in the student’s achievement before and after treatment. The results show the T-counted value of 5.95, surpassing the critical T-table value of 2.045. Consequently, the research hypothesis is accepted, signifying that implementing problem-based learning significantly contributes to developing writing skills among Grade VII students at MTS Al-Khairaat Tondo in constructing procedure text.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effect of the Learning Cycle 5E learning model on the interest and achievement of science learning of grade IV students at Singajaya Elementary School, Indramayu Regency. The research method used was experimental, with 20 students as participants. The research used an experimental method with steps: determining the problem, preparing instruments, determining samples, collecting, analyzing data, and preparing reports. The research results show that the Learning Cycle 5E learning model positively influences the increasing interest and learning achievement of fourth-grade students at Singajaya Elementary School, Krangkeng, Indramayu Regency. The analysis results with SPSS 26 showed an average N-Gain value of 0.61 for increased interest in learning and 0.47 for increased learning achievement. This research recommends applying the 5E Learning Cycle model to increase student interest and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Students often struggle with grammatical accuracy when writing in English as a second language. This study investigates the types and frequencies of errors made by ninth-grade Indonesian students in their English narrative compositions. The research objectives were to 1) identify common error categories within student-generated narrative texts and 2) determine which error type occurs most frequently. The study utilized a descriptive qualitative approach. Ninth-grade students at SMP IT Qurata’Ayun Palu were assigned a narrative writing task on a designated topic. The collected texts were analyzed using Dulay, Burt, and Krashen's (1982) surface approach error taxonomy. Results indicated a total of 70 errors across the students' work. The most prevalent error type was misformation (50%), followed by omission (36%), addition (13%), and misordering (1%). These findings suggest that difficulties applying correct grammatical forms are a significant obstacle to accurate narrative writing for these students.

Abstract

This study uses documentary research methods to thoroughly examine how the Cambodian court has changed over time, the problems it faces now, and the possible solutions that have been suggested. The study tells the story of Cambodia's court system from colonization to today, focusing on important events and ongoing problems. It uses rules, laws, old records, government reports, and survey numbers. According to structured research, the piece gives information about things that have been done, like setting up courts nationwide and settling criminal cases. The piece also discusses problems like insufficient people to work as judges, inadequate infrastructure, and no rules governing specific judicial jobs. This part of the research approach explains the video analysis strategy used in this study. This makes the research process more open and rigorous.

Abstract

In the present globalized, modernized and digitalized business environment, investors are attracted to the stock market for their investment in financial assets rather than real assets. Investors' Investment decisions are affected by various factors affecting their investment in financial assets in the stock market.  This research intends to address problems of how investors’ psychological factors (risk attitude & overconfidence) influence their investment decisions. Therefore, this paper examines the impact of investors’ risk tolerance capacity and overconfidence level on investors’ investment decisions in Nepal. This study has applied descriptive and causality (regression) research designs to investigate the effect of risk tolerance and overconfidence on investment decisions based on financial behavior theories. Data were obtained through the structured questionnaire survey. Investment decision-making is considered a dependent variable in this research, and risk tolerance and investors' overconfidence levels are used as explanatory variables. The correlation result reveals positive associations between explanatory variables and investment decisions. The regression result of this research study concludes that risk tolerance capacity and overconfidence level both significantly impact investors’ investment decisions in the Nepalese stock market. Therefore, policymakers, regulatory bodies, decision makers, market traders, and academics should focus on investors’ risk tolerance ability and overconfidence level to enhance investors' ability to make sound investment decisions to maximize their returns and minimize risk in Nepal.
