Abstract

Soil fertility depletion due to chemical fertilizers is one of the causes of low productivity of rice plants. This study aims to determine the application of balanced fertilization to rice farmers in Darat Sawah Ulu Village, Seginim District, South Bengkulu Regency, and to design an empowerment design that supports the implementation of a balanced fertilization system. This research was carried out from January to June 2024 in Darat Sawah Ulu Village, Seginim District, Bengkulu Province. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey method using a questionnaire as an instrument used in the research. The sample used was 40 respondents. The level of balanced fertilization application in Darat Sawah Ulu Village, Seginim District, South Bengkulu Regency is in the high category with the average percentage of 5 correct applications is 77.214%.  Agricultural extension workers need to assist to maintain the sustainability of implementing this highly balanced fertilizer with appropriate programs.

Abstract

Achievement and Success in Increasing Plant Growth is by Fertilising the Right Target and Method. Optimisation with inorganic fertilization may not be successful if the soil is not sufficient in nutrients. To fertilise the soil, it must be done by giving organic material, so that the soil is fertile. We are a large-scale manufacturer specialising in producing various mining machines including different types of sand and gravel equipment, milling equipment, mineral processing equipment and building materials equipment. Therefore, the right target, method and dose will determine the growth and development of palm oil plants in the Main Nursery. The research was conducted at the Field Laboratory of Soil Management, Conservation at the Institut Teknologi Sawit Indonesia, Medan. Soil Observations at the Soil, Plant, Fertilizer and Water Laboratories at the Agricultural Technology Assessment Centre, Johor, Sumatera Utara. The data results show that the parameters of Plant Height, Stem Circumference, Number of Leaf Sheaths and Leaf Sheats Length have the highest average numbers in the pocket Method, as well as in the Fresh Weight of Roots, Crowns, Dry Weight of Roots, Crowns also have the highest average numbers in the Pocket Method compared to the Sow, Sachet and Drip Fertigation Methods. This indicates that the growth of seedlings of PPKS 718 and PPKS 239 varieties is best in the Pocket Fertilization Method rather than the Sow, Sachet, and Drip Fertigation Methods.

Abstract

The production of chrysanthemum plants in large quantities can be obtained by in vitro growth of chrysanthemums. The growth media that is often used is MS media which has a relatively high price. Therefore, a substitution medium that has a relatively affordable price is needed in the form of foliar fertilizer media with coconut water and ambon bananas added. This study aims to examine the best medium that can be used for in vitro chrysanthemum growth. The research was carried out in June-September 2020 at the In Vitro Culture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The research was carried out by a single-factor experimental method with 7 treatments and each had 5 replicates and each replicate consisted of 3 samples arranged with a Complete Random Design (RAL). The treatment that was experimented with was the use of foliar fertilizers in the form of Growmore and Hyponex Green with the addition of coconut water and bananas. The concentrations of Growmore foliar fertilizer given were 3 g/l, 4 g/l, and 5 g/l. The concentrations of Green Hyponex foliar fertilizer given were 3 g/l, 4 g/l, and 5 g/l. The results of the research showed that foliar fertilizer added with coconut water and banana ambon could be used as a substitution medium for MS media in chrysanthemum growth in vitro. The use of Growmore 4 g/l foliar fertilizer shows the best hail against the tall growth of chrysanthemum shoots in vitro

Abstract

Plant growth response of palm oil seedlings (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) on D x P Yangambi varieties using biochar applications made from palm oil shells, rice husks, and corn cobs in the Main Nursery. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of several types of biochar on the growth of palm oil seedlings (main nursery) on soil chemical properties namely C-Organic, N-Total, Phosphorus Nutrients, Potassium Nutrients and Soil pH in Vertisol Soil Planting Media. This research was conducted at the Soil Laboratory Practice Farm of the Indonesian Institute of Palm Technology, Medan, North Sumatera. The research used Factorial Randomised Group Design (RGD) with 3 replications. The research was conducted for 4 months. The results showed a significant effect on the application of rice husk biochar, palm oil shells and palm oil cobs and the application of N.P.K.Mg 15.15.6.4 fertilizer at a fertilizer dose of 7.5 g.polybag-1 on the parameters of plant height, stem circumference, number of leaf midribs, and biochar treatment can increase soil pH, Phosphorus nutrients, and Potassium nutrients.

Abstract

The rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros) is a fairly important pest in oil palm plants, especially in young or unproductive plants. The purpose of this study is to examine the use of pheromones and lamps as horn beetle traps. The research was carried out in a community plantation in Sungai Lala, Kelawat District, Indragiri Hulu, Riau. The research was carried out for 1 month, with tools in the form of lamp traps and pheromones, as well as a combination of both.  The results showed that the combination of pheromones with trap lights provided the most catch compared to single treatment. There was no difference in the catch of male and female beetles in all treatments. It is hoped that the results of this research can be used to control rhino beetles in a simple way in community plantations.

Abstract

Various tropical pulses such as velvet bean, lima bean, and jack bean are leguminous plants that have legumes cultivated and are found in Indonesia. Legumes are a source of vegetable protein with a protein content ranging from 18% to 25%. The aim of study is to evaluate, assess, and identify genotypes of tropical minor legume landraces that show high emergence and vigor through this research, understanding genetic diversity in populations of tropical minor legume landraces can be obtained. This supports efforts to conserve plant genetic diversity, which is important for maintaining long-term food security and ensuring the survival of ecologically and culturally valuable plant species. The research was carried out at the Hydroponic Screen House, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Asahan, from December 2023 to February 2024. This research aims to evaluate the level of emergence or growth and identify genotypes of tropical minor legume landraces that show high emergence and vigor. The data design in this study used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) which was replicated in 3 replications and analyzed using Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) supported by the Tukey test at the 5% level, also to assist in the process of creating diagrams using the Microsoft Excel application in the insert menu, namely pivotTable, and all data analysis used SPSS application, the observed variables include: emergence, germination rate, vigor index, simultancity growth. Based on the Tukey analysis, the highest emergence is K5, P3, K4, B2, K3, B1, B4, P5, and the lowest is B3. The genotypes with the highest germination capacity were P1, P2, K1, K2, P3, P5, B1, B2, while P4, B4, K3, K4, K5, B3, B5 is the genotypes with the lowest values. The genotype with the highest vigor index is B3, P4, while the lowest is B1, P3. The genotypes with the highest growth uniformity were the P1, P2, P5, P3, B1 genotypes, and the lowest were the genotypes P4, B3, B5, K1.

Abstract

Replanting is a strategic effort to increase the productivity of oil palm plantations. This effort requires the procurement of quality seedlings, so that maintenance absolutely gets the main attention. This study aims to determine the benefits of co-products to increase nutrient use efficiency (NUE) and the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. This study used a completely randomized block design with treatments of oil palm co-products (empty bunches, mesocarp fiber, suspended solids applied as mulch on the surface of polybag media, and without co-products) and NPKMg (15:15:6:4) at the rate of 8, 10 and 12 grams/two weekly/seedlings. The treatment  applied at transplanting seedlings from PN to MN until the age of 8 months. The results showed that the growth of oil palm seedlings and NUEwere influenced by the types of co-products and NPKMg rates. Application of oil palm co-products (empty bunches, mesocarp fibers and suspended solids) as surface mulch and NPKMg fertilizer (15:15:6:4)  of 12, 10, and 8 grams/two weekly/seedling can increase the growth of 8-month-old MN oil palm seedlings. The better seedling growth was produced by the application of 8 grams of fertilizer/two weekly/seedling and empty bunches. Application of all co-products can improved NUE in MN nurseries. Improvement of  NUE along with the decrease in the dose of NPKMg application (8 ?10?12 grams/two weekly/seedling).

Abstract

The root system of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a critical component for plant growth. Roots play essential roles in water and mineral absorption, providing structural support, storing energy, and facilitating interactions between plants and microorganisms. In tissue culture, root initiation is one of the key parameters for the successful formation of plantlets. This study aims to analyze the response of growth regulators in inducing roots and increasing the percentage of root formation in oil palm plantlets in vitro using 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). The methods included plant material preparation, root growth medium preparation, treatment media preparation, inoculation and incubation, and data analysis. The experimental design employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with nine treatments and one control, each repeated seven times, resulting in 70 experimental units. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by further testing with DMRT at a 5% significance level. The results showed that NAA and IBA positively influenced root formation in oil palm plantlets. A single NAA treatment effectively stimulated root elongation and reduced the time required for root emergence. The combination treatment of 1 mg/L NAA + 2 mg/L IBA produced a higher number of roots in the plantlets.

Abstract

The study of income analysis of intercropping between corn and Sweet potato in Kediren Village, Kalitengah District, Lamongan Regency aims to determine the income of sweet potato farming and sweet corn farming. This research was conducted from September to November 2024 The method used in this study was a survey. Data collection was carried out through interviews and observations. Sampling used a non-probability sampling technique. The population in this study amounted to 30 people so that all respondents were taken as samples. The location of the study in Kediren Village, Kalitengah District, Lamongan Regency was determined purposively because it met the criteria set by the researcher. Thus, it is expected to answer the existing problems. Based on the research results, it can be seen that the production costs of farmers who carry out corn and sweet potato intercropping in Kediren Village, Kediren District, Lamongan Regency, it can be seen that the total cost of corn and sweet potato intercropping is Rp. 32,337,400,--. Corn income is 18,618,400,-- and sweet potato is Rp. 13,719,000,--. The difference in income between corn and sweet potatoes is Rp 4,899,400,-. This study shows that the harvest that is only planted with corn, the income is Rp 32,000,000,- compared to intercropping between corn and sweet potatoes, the income is Rp 54,200,000,-

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penggunaan arang sekam bakar dan pupuk NPK terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan berbagai perlakuan pemberian arang sekam bakar dan pupuk NPK pada media tanam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi arang sekam dengan pupuk kandang, khususnya dengan perbandingan 1:1 memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap peningkatan tinggi bibit kelapa sawit dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan perlakuan memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan bibit, dengan perlakuan P2 menghasilkan pertumbuhan tertinggi. Temuan ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya penggunaan media tanam yang tepat untuk optimalisasi pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit, yang dapat berimplikasi praktis terhadap pengelolaan perkebunan kelapa sawit.
